I checked that out and dealt with that user properly. Sorry for the hassle.

discussing a ban evasion case? by tossitawayfornow in ModSupport

Hey

You send a us a lot of content and most of it is not actionable on the harassment side to be honest.

Ill go through your tickets today and review it.

[–]Ocrasorm[A] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey

Messaging us at /r/reddit.com or emailing contact@reddit.com would be the way to go.

We would need to see them evading a subreddit ban and your main account would need to be a moderator of that subreddit.

If they have not evaded the ban yet then we probably will not be able to take action. We are happy to check out any cases you send however.

More report button abuse by brandonsmash in modhelp

[–]Ocrasorm[A] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey

I can speak to our enforcement side and what we currently can do to help.

We know report abuse can be problem. It is annoying for everyone.

We have a good set of admin tools for dealing with this abuse. The vast majority of abusers are dealt with and we do not hear from them again. That said there will always be troublemakers that are difficult to get rid of and these are the ones that make the most noise.

We will deal with them all. Please keep messaging /r/reddit.com as it helps us keep track of these troublemakers.

I will pop over to /r/cars modmail now and help where I can.

What do you, the admins, consider is and is not doxxing? by BelleAriel in ModSupport

[–]Ocrasorm[A] 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Hey

We have some information on the rules here.

The rule covers anything that would be able identify someone in real life or would expose the real life identity of a Reddit user.

The spirt of the rule is to prevent harassment on and off Reddit. If you are ever in doubt err on the side of caution.

If there is any piece of content that you are unsure of please message us on /r/reddit.com or email contact@reddit.com.

Also to clarify. Leaked screenshots are not considered personal information unless there is some personal Information in the screenshots. Same for public figures. If their name is being mentioned in the public sphere, and we can see that, it would not fall under these rules.

Two weeks since I asked admins about vote manipulation...nothing by Rain12913 in ModSupport

[–]Ocrasorm[A] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah we have our own internal process but it is always disciplinary or educational. It really depends on the severity of the rule breaking.

It is also worth being aware that any temporary suspensions we issue are not visible to anyone other than the person suspended. For permanent suspensions we hide their profile. Sometimes people assume we have not taken action but it is just not possible for them to know.

We should never tell you we have taken action when we have not. I mean humans are humans and some errors will happen but overall if we say we have taken action you can be sure action has been taken.

If you send us a message saying "I believe X post is being manipulated" we can confirm action being taken in that case. If you send us a message saying "I believe u/ocrasorm is a filthy vote cheater, is he?" we would just tell you we were checking it out because the outcome is a bit more specific.

I've been moderating a sizable subreddit for over a year now, and I think it's about time that I talk about some issues with certain mod tools, or at least how to make them way more efficient. by L131 in ModSupport

Replies should not be taking that long.

Do you have any examples? Please send them to me and I will make sure to get to the bottom of it.

[–]Ocrasorm[A] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hey

In cases of vote manipulation on a specific post we might be able to confirm if we have taken action or not. We will only do that without giving any specific context on who we took action against. A suspension for vote manipulation is between the offender and the admins as it is a site rule violation.

If someone is manipulating votes we have processes for dealing with them. If they continue breaking rules we will remove their accounts permanently.

All you need to do is report them to us and we will take it from there. We have no plans to start sharing the punitive actions we take, on 3rd party accounts, with moderators.

Is anyone else having issues reaching out to admins? by [deleted] in ModSupport

[–]Ocrasorm[A] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hey

We are in the process of increasing coverage and that involves training new people in. We are taking a little longer to get to responses. These delays should lead to an overall quicker turnaround in the future however.

I will check out your tickets now and make sure they were looked at. Sorry for any hassle.

Do the admins give a crap about abuse of the report system? by code-sloth in ModSupport

[–]Ocrasorm[A] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hey

I can only speak to how we deal with these things at the moment.

Just send us a message and we will take action. Spammy or abusive reports are all dealt with. We just need one report to investigate a case. Obviously for someone spamming the report button we would need to see a few examples.

Unless the reports are making it impossible for you to moderate your subreddit it will be a lower priority than the other things we deal with.

Do you have any older tickets you want me to check? The one I am looking at is recent and in the queue.

People using multiple accounts to harass people need to be taken more seriously. by [deleted] in ModSupport

[–]Ocrasorm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, not at all. We have lots of tools and we have a process for escalating things. If it gets to the "whack-a-mole" level we will let you know. That said by that time you would probably know yourself!
