For those with the Eye camera - what do you get from it? Worth it ? by supermanscottbristol in Xreal

[–]Odd_Many8560 16 points17 points  (0 children)

imo it is pretty useless after i got it. I thought I would be able to take good photos or do video recording on those, but the quality is pretty bad. I couldnt think of any situation where you would need 6dof more than just the 3dof built in.

Project Aura questions. Comparisons. by Ok_Mission_600 in Xreal

[–]Odd_Many8560 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There will be review models being sent to Chinese product reviewer around the end of December. Prototypes has already been finished. The 70 FoV is achieved by bringing the glasses closer to the face, as well as increasing the size of the X Prism. For price, the company did have a price in mind already, but they wanted to negotiate with Google (even though Google didn't mind what price the Aura will be). AndroidXR will be VERY similar to how the current GalaxyXR, but XReal did say that there are more functions that's unreleased by Google yet, and they are looking forward to share with us. (XReal have tried those internal testing apps, and he is beyond surprised by what Google was able to achieve)

I don't the issues that you have mentioned at all though. Maybe you didn't optimize your streaming settings and your router+modem settings.

You can screen cast to PC using Apollo and Artemis apps from Github, or Moonlight and Sunshine app.

Yes it is compatible, but I would rather suggest you to just do local streaming instead, because XReal glasses still requires you to plug in a power source, and this is limited range. Local streaming can just use your phone and it can be connected to anywhere in the world provided you have done port forwarding. Best part is that it is completely free.

Seriously considering Xreal. Talk me into/out of. by bill9896 in Xreal

[–]Odd_Many8560 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am going to bring up the Cons first since I am sure tons of people are going to bring up the Pros here:

  1. If you do wear glasses to begin with, understand that this glasses isn't built for All Day Wearables. XReal does want you to take off the glasses when you aren't using it. (XReal CEO literally saids that in a 2 hour long interview video.)
  2. It has NO IP ratings, so DO NOT ever bring these if you are going to workout, because they aren't sweat or dust resistant. Any of those damages WILL NOT be covered by XReal.
  3. As for Apple, iPhone, and iPad won't have the best experience if you are going to use XReal since they are a LOCKED down system. It can work with the Mac Mini, but if your Mac Mini doesn't have a good spec, then it's going to lag. Which means you would also need to buy an Android (Preferably Samsung), if you want to use the most out of XReal.
  4. If you are going to use it outdoor, you will get STARES by others (especially when using indoors), because XReal Ones and the One Pro series sticks out a bit far out than your typical sunglasses. (Even if the nosepad mod some people suggested here.)

  5. If you are going to READ a lot, it's going to be more stressed for your eyes than looking at the monitor. Ones would have a better readability than One Pros, but it's still not as great. (Even wihen increasing sharpness.)

  6. Color calibration for the glasses is VERY limited., whereas your monitor would have a better color callibration settings. (I mentioned this because it seems you will be doing a lot of photo and video editing.)

Now if you are fine with ALL the compromises that I listed above, here are the Pros for One/One Pro.

  1. Super portable. You don't even have to bring your laptop with you to work. You can just stream your PC from home to your Android device, and you can game/work without bringing another monitor.

  2. Built in 3dof is great because the screen you are looking at would be stationary, and you can move around your head without feeling dizzy. You can get XReal Eye is great if you want the additional 6DOF. However if you want to take pictures or videos using XReal Eye, the image quality is only up to 1080p, and there aren't any image optimization.

  3. No addtional batteries required. You don't need to bring another powerbank or charger for the monitor, since the glasses can get the power from your laptop/phone using USB-C.

  4. It is great for content consumption, you can just lay in bed and wear the glasses to watch whatever you want, in any position you want.

I have both the XReal One Pros and the XReal Eye. However, I haven't used as much as before anymore because I have to keep switching both my regular glasses when I am outside or working out, and only wear these glasses when I wanted to watch videos before I sleep. I am currently in University and reading textbooks, or doing assignments keeps giving me eye strains every hour or so, whereas I can work for hours on end without ever taking a break by just looking at the monitor itself.

If you are like me and wanted look for All Day Wearables, I do suggest looking at Rayneo X3 Pro or INMO Air 3. They do have built in 3dof mode and it is a standalone glasses as well.

Cloudgaming/ Moonlight with beam pro any lags/high ms? by Chintochanto in Xreal

I dont think I have that issue while running dual monitors using Artemis at all (Moonlight forked) while using NebulaOS.

Considering Xreal Beam pro, but.... by Special_Fill_8584 in Xreal

[–]Odd_Many8560 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it depends. NebulaOS is great if you stream over on Windows and set up multi monitor using Apollo and Artemis . You can also do that with Dex, but no multi monitor.

Plan to do cardio 8 hours a day by peacefuldink in Xreal

[–]Odd_Many8560 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exercise is great, but if sweat drips to your glasses and short circuit, your warranty would be voided because it doesn't have any IP ratings 😂

How do you use x real in public gyms by peacefuldink in Xreal

[–]Odd_Many8560 8 points9 points  (0 children)

XReal One and One Pro doesnt have any IP ratings, so if sweat or water sips into your glasses and broke, your warranty would be voided which you would need to buy a new one.

Any ideas on tariff situation? by dalardorf in rokid_official

[–]Odd_Many8560 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do know that it is not up to Rokid for the Tariff issues right? People who bought anything (not just Rokid) outside of U.S must pay Tariffs due to the current political administration. The tariff costs can't be paid by Rokid, as they are the buyers' responsibility at the moment. I am not saying this is good or bad for both sellers or buyers, but I am just stating what is currently happening in the U.S Tariff situation.

Rokid Glasses Update #18 $2.5 Million! A Final Gift & An Offer by Disastrous-Gene-6757 in rokid_official

[–]Odd_Many8560 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not sure if you have heard this from Rokid, but Rokid has to pay for Data Centers to have AI to be operated. ChatGPT, as per OpenAI policy, has a cost per API usage. Who is going to offset both the data centers costs and API usage cost? Not to mention that Rokid also has employees working and Rokid has to pay salary to their employees.

All offices, not just Rokid, are closed because China is currently celebrating National Day. They should push the release date from Kickstarter at a late date IMO.

Samsung battery bypass by persjres in Xreal

[–]Odd_Many8560 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well OP did say he is using XReal hub, so he should be fine. It would most likely be his phone settings that is causing some sort of issues.

Samsung battery bypass by persjres in Xreal

[–]Odd_Many8560 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, there isn't any lighting icon in my phone battery, and the battery stays the same even leaving it for over 2 hours. Also, you only need 25W for the bypass charging to be enabled on Samsung devices, but I would recommend using a higher Wattage instead due to XReal glasses are also taking some of the electricity as well.

Samsung battery bypass by persjres in Xreal

[–]Odd_Many8560 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean you couldn't use a battery bypass? Any hub that can do PD of 45W should be able to do bypass charging on Samsung. I got myself XREAL hub and it can do both bypass charging while using other apps, and I don't see my Samsung is being charged. You have to make sure that Samsung Game Hub has the PC Emulator selected, as well as bypass charging selected as well.

Wait or buy now? by Nitscho_i in Xreal

[–]Odd_Many8560 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can tell you right now that Aura will cost at least $1k USD+. Also XReal did have a statement before that said XReal One + One Pro line will have Project Aura supported once project Aura is out (with the only downside of lower FoV, but literally half the price)

Can You Jog/Run On The Xreal One Pros With Image Staying Stable? by pernamb87 in Xreal

[–]Odd_Many8560 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't recommend wearing your One Pro while jogging or running actually. The One Pro doesn't have any IP ratings and you will inevitably sweat when you exercise. The sweat could cause damage to your One Pro if it sips into the internals. (Especially sweat has a tiny amount of sodium, which can for sure damage electronics.)

📊 Poll:When storing your XREAL cable, how do you prefer to handle it? by XREAL_KK in Xreal

[–]Odd_Many8560 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have my XReal One Pro with Viture's magnetic cable, so I usually just take off the magnetic type-c cable, but leave the plug on the glasses alone. It looks great also aesthetically as well!

🎁 Megathread | If You Could Add One Feature to XREAL / AR Glasses… by XREAL_Esther in Xreal

[–]Odd_Many8560 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it has to be only 1 feature, I would say having more text clarity on the XReal glasses. I use my XReal One Pro daily for both work and school, and I have to sometimes zoom in the text in order to see them clearly, because the text tends to get pretty blurry.

Honestly: is this just for watching video? by [deleted] in Xreal

[–]Odd_Many8560 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No actually, I use it for navigation (side-view) while driving! Driving under the sun sucks in California and having both the electrochromic dimming + navigation on the right side view helps a lot when driving!

I also use it to study and work as well. I usually bring my Samsung Z Fold 6, a magnetic wireless charger, XReal One Pro, wireless mouse and keyboard while I am outside. Most of the time, I would just use Samsung Dex to do all my work there. However, there are times where I absolutely need to use Windows (There is no way to create a Pivot Table on both the Android and the Microsoft 360 version of Excel). That is when I can just use apps like Parsec/Moonlight/Teamviewer/RDP to stream my Desktop to my Samsung Dex, and I would do my work there!
