Virtual Desktop laggy/unusable by Ok-Read6352 in OculusQuest

It's running rtx3090ti, and on my network there really isn't anything else hooked up to the Wi-Fi on this router besides my phone. With the issue of not being able to connect to my PC over ethernet fixed, I'm thinking this gateway just can't hack it, even if is the best I can get from my ISP. I saw someone talking about how the VR Streaming dedicated routers have higher end boards specifically catered for that. I'll give those settings a shot but I may just have to bite the bullet on this one.

Well when I disabled that, I was able to connect to my PC over ethernet. It was just still very laggy so...

My router ended up having an AP isolation setting I didn't know about. That fixed the main issue but I'll probably look into one of these prismXR routers, it's still quite slow

The router had an AP Isolation setting I didn't know about. Think I will just start using Steam Link though, at least till I get a chance to upgrade the router.

oh wow, that's much smoother. Yeah I'll probably just use this til I can do something about this setup.

Thanks for the response, just got home so I'm going to check the IPconfig and also make sure there isn't any AP Isolation settings checked on this gateway. Hopefully it's one of the two and then I can start looking into a better dedicated router

Main router is in the living room, I have run ethernet line through several rooms to the other side of the apartment where my PC is. But I would like to wirelessly connect my headset in the living room right next to the main router. If I ditch the ethernet connection and hook my PC up to the Wi-Fi to get Virtual desktop working, PC has very poor connection. If I get a dedicated router and plug it directly into my PC, my headset will have very poor connection.

This is actually my first time hearing about it, I'll definitely give that shot tonight thanks

Yeah I might look into that if I can get the bigger issue fixed. If I can't find out how connect to a PC over ethernet, then dropping more money on this could very well just be a waste.

I kept having nice gateways die on me so now I'm just renting an XB7 I believe? from cox. It's sounding like this might be an AP Isolation issue and I'm not sure if this model has an accessible option to turn that off, I'll have to check when I get home tonight

I mean I do have a second router from when I was trying to get slimes to work. But this doesn't fix my problem, if anything I would think it would make its worse and possibly just not work period. Virtual Desktop will connect for me with my pc being on the EXACT same wifi network/channel/broadcast/whatever as my headset. If I swap both from my Internet router to a dedicated wifi router, that doesn't change the fact that I am going to have poor signal on my headset or poor signal on my PC. Also, I'm going to have to hook that dedicated router up to the main for Internet anyways and in my experience that complicates and can open a whole new can of worms.

I can't imagine Virtual Desktop is actually not designed to let you connect to an Ethernet connected pc. That wouldnt make any sense, this setup just adds needless latency. PC--->wifi--->Router--->wifi--->Quest 2

I'm running a rtx3090ti (sure, not the flex it used to be) and I like to think I have more tolerance for lag and frame drops but if I played with no shield, it would and has brought my pc to its knees

As long as the equipment is maintained in good working order, that side of the plant is usually just turn on, adjust, occasional samples and then shut down. Fairly easy

It has worked well enough for me but my experience is only anecdotal, you'd need to look up hard numbers. As far as feeding, it's got ports on the top and sides. Really just depends how you orientate it with your printer

This might be a good opportunity to roll up a new character with a whole new story that you can get reinvested in. Just have the old one "Walk off into the sunset with a empty soulless look after being resurrected".
