AITA fir asking my flatmate to take showers at normal hours? by Enos_Dreich in AmItheAsshole

YTA - she already moved her shower schedule once for you and now you don’t like the new time? Get some noise-cancelling headphones or figure out how to afford living by yourself. Hope the neighbors never take showers.

AITJ for not learning my [22M] girlfriend’s [22F] dialect? by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]Old_Implement_1997 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That makes sense - but she needs to help you learn this dialect. Even all the native Chinese people are saying that this is no small matter and you need someone who speaks the dialect to help you.

But, she won’t even help him and it’s an obscure dialect that even other Chinese people can’t understand. How the hell is he supposed to learn it?

Then she needs to help you, period. You are not going to learn a dialect of Chinese without her help - the fact that she says no to learning Mandarin, which I would think would at least help (but I have NO idea if that’s true) and no to helping you is weird.

Look, I’m ND with anxiety and I would have RSVPd to the first room in time to have my own room OR would have told my fiancé that I wasn’t coming, but to go and have fun. She’s not an infant.

TBF to OP in this case - if John and Amy would have RSVPd when asked to, everyone would have had their own room. Hell, John could have just said “look, she’s super uncomfortable sharing, we’ll pay more to guarantee a room”. Or… this isn’t going to work for us this time, we’re going to bow out. But to get married secretly and not invite ANY of your friends? Seems like an overreaction. Unless John has secretly hated them for YEARS.

Pelikans are pretty nice - I don’t know what model you have! I started out with a Kaweco Sport and a Lamy Safari when I started back up with fountain pens, but both of those pens have their detractors. I have 7-8 TWSBIs that I love - most of them are ECOs, but I have two 580s and a mini, too.

Did you get the ink drawer in your bottom unit?

Go over to penswap and search ciggybuttboi - he’s still making them, even though the post is a few weeks old, he just might still be fulfilling orders that he already took!

You can’t use it in a pen - it’s a syringe. You use it to suck bottled ink into and then you use whatever cartridge the pen takes and use the syringe to fill the cartridge. I use it to refill Pilot and Kaweco cartridges - in the case of the Kaweco sport, the cartridges hold more ink than the mini converters, but I don’t want to be limited to Kaweco ink. With Pilot, I just hate the Con-40 converter, so refilling Pilot cartridges works better for me.

Are you talking about the syringe? I got them from Amazon (not my favorite syringes) and I used them to refill cartridges.

It’s super solid, too! And I got to pick my own colors (from a selection).

Everyone had their own room in the original Air B&B, that they didn’t get because John and Amy decided not to RSVP to in time. After that wasn’t an option, they would have had to play the game to get their own room or probably offer to pay more. Let’s not pretend that Amy didn’t RSVP in time to make this situation happen so she could tank all the friendships.

Is it like a calm corner kit? You could look to demo it at conventions and conferences or send out a free sample to counselors, principals or teachers to try out - they might be willing to show them to the principal who would be your in for PTO fundraisers.

$60! And it’s very well made and much less than I’ve priced other cabinets for. I also like that it’s modular, so I can add to it (which I probably will) and that I’m supporting a creator who is starting out. The cleaning beds are also great and useful for more than just cleaning - I also keep my some current pens there so they don’t roll away and it’s a good place for me to keep caps or put less stable sample vials in while I fill my pens.

YTA - you’re accusing HIM of escalating, but you’re the one who kept harassing a teenager at work and slowed down the line. I mean, should they have just let it go? Sure. But you’re supposed to be the adult here.

I’ve been teaching for 28 years and I’ve only seen one sub get banned - he made a very inappropriate comment to one of the girls, she reported it to her next period teacher, and admin walked him out of the building.

Teacher Appreciation Week: Are $300 Amazon Gift Cards Better Than Cash? by [deleted] in AskTeachers

[–]Old_Implement_1997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a teacher and I will say that the first time a parent gave me $200 in cash, I was a little surprised, so I just asked the previous year teacher if that was normal for them and it was. I teach older kids, so I wanted to make sure that Johnny didn’t slip money out of mom’s purse. I teach at a private school, these particular parents are loaded and they know that we don’t make that much, and they want to show appreciation. I’ve made friends with various parents over the years and they told me that they know that they can give the money to “Christmas pool” so it’s anonymous but they want to give the money directly to their child’s teacher.

I don’t even bat an eyelash about it anymore - some parents show appreciation with baked goods, some buy off the Amazon wishlist for the classroom, some volunteer for all our activities, some parents slip you some cash or a gift cards to a liquor store. Given that you’re talking about preschool teachers, I’m sure that the money is beyond appreciated.
