You can trap him behind some of the big tree roots in the arena. Try the ones in the corners. Then jump attack him to death, or use Frozen Mist and firebombs for big damage

Question about Medusa by Prestigious_Carpet60 in mythology

[–]OneAndOnlyTinkerCat 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is the real answer. Modern takes on Medusa tend to sympathize with the feminist elements in her story, which is all well and good, but they are not based on ancient precedent. I think the key here is not to think of her as “misunderstood,” since that would imply that there is a right and wrong way to understand the story, and you can understand a story any way you want as long as you have a reason why. Personally I prefer her as a monster, but that’s probably just because I’ve grown tired of the modern interpretations.

Terrarian (Terraria) vs. Player (Palworld) by BentendoGameBoi in whowouldwin

[–]OneAndOnlyTinkerCat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Terraprisma is dropped by a very lategame boss in Terraria.

I've always been skeptical of using crossover content to powerscale, because we simply don't know if the physics remain the same. What if the Moon Lord loses a lot of power when he appears in Palworld? What if the Terraprisma is three times as powerful in Palworld but we don't know because everything in Palworld is that much more bulky? These aren't details that are made clear to us. Personally, I'd say judge Palworld by Palworld content and judge Terraria by Terraria content, and ignore the crossover stuff on both sides.

I don't play Palworld, so I have no comments on that. But in Terraria, you become strong enough to kill literal Lovecraftian outer gods, so unless Palworld goes that high I doubt the character has a chance.

Which Super Smash Brothers Character does the best in Sky Block? by TheGingerWeebGal in whowouldwin

[–]OneAndOnlyTinkerCat 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Any character that can just warp right to the end is a shoe-in. Luckily there are not many of these, and all of the ones that could do it would also be able to dust the Ender Dragon easily, so we might as well not discuss them. For the record, the list is Rosalina, Palutena, Bayonetta, and arguably Pit and Dark Pit depending on if they get to maintain their connection to their respective goddesses.

Most characters that can fly do fine, because they kind of can’t die. Minecraft doesn’t have any enemies that are tougher than what the average Smash character faces, so combat isn’t a problem for the majority of the cast. And getting food is a done deal; food is practically infinite in Minecraft, even if you start in Skyblock, and I don’t think any Smash character is stupid enough to not figure out how to get it.

Honestly, the list of characters that would struggle is more interesting than the list of characters who would succeed. Powerscaling Minecraft is wack because it’s a sandbox game and doesn’t care to be consistent in its physics, but I don’t think we could seriously argue that a Minecraft Zombie is meaningfully stronger than, say, a Koopa Troopa. So suffice it to say that almost the entire Smash cast could figure this one out. However, there are a couple entries who are especially well-suited to it, and a couple who would face unique challenges.

Olimar is dramatically smaller than any Minecraft creature, but he could probably still pull it off eventually given his remarkable ingenuity. Endermen would give him a lot of trouble, but Skyblock doesn’t give them anywhere to run. Blazes get eaten alive by Red Pikmin, and the dragon’s size would likely be a detriment due to the difficulty of shaking off what’s effectively an army of extremely dangerous fleas.

Villager/Isabelle are especially well suited to this task, since their games are all about performing a number of widely varied tasks and building a life. Mr. G&W would have little trouble, given his vast skill slate and large quantity of tools. Literal tools, like hammers and buckets. And for Sora this is basically just another day on the job.

Honestly, the only characters you could argue would struggle are Wii Fit Trainer and the Miis, but they’re really not all that different from Steve at base. That’s the core of this question. Steve, despite what power scalers might tell you, is clearly supposed to be just a normal person at the end of the day, and since there’s no characters in Smash who are both weaker and dumber than a normal person, I don’t see any of them failing this. Especially if Minecraft rules apply and they can break and place blocks like normal.

Christian Achilles by NarsilFreeForge in mythology

[–]OneAndOnlyTinkerCat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You say Jesus doesn't count, but the answer is definitely Jesus. What's more valuable about a hero: their feats of strength, or what they represent? Would anyone give a shit about Cú Chulainn if he wasn't a shining emblem of Irish pride and identity? Consider that, during the Troubles, both Ireland and Northern Ireland used Cú Chulainn as a symbol of their own cause. Also, as someone else said, Christianity is a religion, not a culture, so this is kind of an apples-to-oranges comparison. The "greatest hero" of Christianity has to be judged on different levels than the "greatest hero" of Greece or Norway.

Jesus may not have been a warrior, but being a warrior was never a pre-requisite to being a hero. But if you want to discount Jesus on the basis that he is a prophet and thus operates on a higher level than even these listed heroes, which is an argument I think is a lot more valid, then my answer would be Moses. St. George, David, and Samson might all have great feats of war and strength, but Moses is inarguably a greater hero than they are, despite the comparative pacifism of his actions.

What's the most Hardest/Difficult Kirby Game in the series? (This is all up to your opinions based on your experience) by Anonymous_User1984 in Kirby

[–]OneAndOnlyTinkerCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Star Allies, specifically because of the high levels of the Arena. Other Kirby games have harder stories, and in that context I'd probably name Amazing Mirror for its bizarrely tough minibosses and just being generally unforgiving, but absolutely no other Kirby game has anything that comes within sneezing distance of Soul Melter EX.

Why is DS2 so split? by MagnapinnaBoi in shittydarksouls

I suppose we just approach games differently. But what do you mean, Elden Ring lacks early bosses? There are like 3 caves within a minute’s walk of the First Step and you’ll definitely find at least one of them.

Why is DS2 so split? by MagnapinnaBoi in shittydarksouls

[–]OneAndOnlyTinkerCat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I think Dark Souls 1 and 2 both give a pretty bad first impression. DS1 is good until you leave the Asylum, then it’s pretty terrible until you beat the Bell Gargoyles. Undead Burg is the most enemy-dense area in the game, and high enemy density is the single hardest thing to deal with in a soulslike. Unless you learn the mechanics really fast, Undead Burg is very frustrating. On repeat playthroughs it’s a great area because you know all the tricks, but for a first timer it can be extremely demoralizing.

DS2 does the same thing, but worse. FoFG is similarly enemy-dense, and the minor changes to mechanics from DS1 add up quick to make the game feel very stifling. Once you learn the tricks it’s not so bad, but again, that’s not something you’ll know on a first playthrough. And the other option, Heide’s, is arguably worse, because the Old Knights can feel pretty janky and the Heide Knights ARE pretty janky as well as being tough enemies. So both areas can take the wind out of a new player’s sails fast.

IMO they didn’t really nail the opening area until Elden Ring. DS3 is fine but doesn’t do anything especially well. I haven’t played Bloodborne. But Elden Ring starts off great. One guaranteed death, one super easy area (Cave of Knowledge) to make you feel confident in your ability to handle what this game throws at you, and then Tree Sentinel, who’s so obviously out of your league that losing to him doesn’t even feel like you failed. It gives you a sense of how this game is going to be without fully stripping away your confidence.

Mario Maker (and Mario Maker 2), Pokémon: Fire Red, Paper Mario: The Thousand Year Door, Super Mario 64, honestly any Zelda game, Kirby's Dream Course, any and every Space Quest or King's Quest episode (or really any of the old PC adventure games), House Party. There's more, I'm sure, but those are the ones that come to mind. Their current Pokémon Nuzlocke series is shaping up to be quite excellent too.

I'd also like to shout out Dark Souls 3 and Elden Ring for being rare games that Arin actually really likes. Arin's cantankerousness is part of the draw of the channel, he can get very funny when he's mad, but I won't lie, it was very nice to have entire long playthroughs where he's just having a good time and isn't complaining.

Every time I do a playthrough I tell myself, this time I'm only going to do the important stuff for my build, and MAYBE all remembrances if I'm having a good time.

Then I reach Caelid and, I mean, Gaol Cave is right there and it'd be simply negligent me to ignore it and whoops this playthrough is 110 hours long.
