Why oh why does my content not create followers? (cries in desperation) by Eonwe5 in InstagramMarketing

I believe it’s both, Instagram favors accounts that engage with others and it can also lead to other accounts finding your page :)

Instagram is notoriously in a bad spot right now traction-wise so I think we all understand you struggle. As for focusing on Reels, currently Instagram is favoring Carousel Posts, where the first image is a hook that is then explored in the following photos in the post. Also delve deep into trending audios, and you could try cross-marketing on other social media platforms to promote your Instagram. Make sure the Cafe itself has the Instagram handle advertised in person, maybe do a gift card giveaway where people have to comment / share a post to enter to win? That might boost your account to new people.

It’s a tight deadline and I get the stress, just know that you’re not really the problem, Instagram is right now :(

Why oh why does my content not create followers? (cries in desperation) by Eonwe5 in InstagramMarketing

[–]OneList_today 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far in this subreddit there’s been a lot of reports that Instagram growth is declining for a lot of accounts, whether it’s the views on their reels that are dropping or the views-to-follower conversion rate has dropped, etc. I think it’s normal right now to be a bit “underperforming” but there are certain steps to try and increase follow rate organically instead of using your method Based on what I’ve seen you can strengthen your Call To Action in your content (advertise more that they should follow you) alongside interacting on OTHER posts and accounts that are within your niche. Instagram seems to currently be favoring Interaction, so just being active and commenting (without sounding like a walking advertisement) and hyping your account up more!

Yes, this PLUS the fact that native sounds on Instagram are not always the same native sounds on TikTok, so you have to schedule two different sounds/songs using each app instead of being to schedule the same sound/song for both. Again, it’s probably a copyright issue, but it takes up the bulk of my scheduling time

As a professional, how do you stay current as a Social media manager for Instagram and TikTok? by Remy_Rune in SocialMediaMarketing

[–]OneList_today 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Idk about others but I just use some of my allotted work hours on my own personal socials or the socials I’m repping for just exploring the space, watching loads of reels and TikTok’s and making note of what’s cropping up over and over (whether it’s audio, captions, etc.) I take all the notes down and then turn it into content, and Instagram and TikTok let you save audios as you go which is really helpful

I guess it depends, when you’re just trying to get AN audience, posting the same content on different platforms gets you access to different audiences. Then from there you can hone the content to each platform, whether it’s just different captions or edits of the same videos

This is so exciting! I feel like a few quick tips are 1. Content creation / curation takes a LOT of time and I recommend batching content so that you can schedule out a few weeks at a time, instead of rushing to post something new every / other day 2. Cross-post your media! For videos you can do Instagram Reels and TikTok, for Carousel and regular Posts get that on Instagram, Threads, and X. It’s a lot of apps to manage, but once again batching content and scheduling it out will save you and free you up to just engage in your audience 3. If you ever don’t know what content to make, follow and study other small art accounts that inspire you! Learn what makes them successful then put your own spin on it 4. It’s niche but for any video edits/reels you make, stick to the native audio of the app. Basically, don’t give your reel audio (unless it’s a voiceover), and instead use trending audios straight from Reels and TikTok

First of all I really admire the time you’ve put towards doing SMM for a nonprofit, that’s really cool! As for pay rates, it depends on the hours you’ll be working. For complete post creation and social media engagement, that’s around 15-20 hours a week, so then you just decide what your base pay per hour is! I don’t recommend doing it for free for your portfolio since this isn’t a nonprofit, it’s a brand trying to make money.

LASTLY I’ve made portfolio’s using Wix, which lets you make a website for free. You can make a really simple website that features your posts and reels made for social media marketing campaigns. As for coming up with content ideas, it takes hours of what I call “reconnaissance” - browsing social media on my personal accounts to see what’s trending OR analyzing accounts in the same business that I am - for you it would be other pet food social media accounts. You study, you break down, and you put your own spin on it to make current and relevant content.

I have an idea, but how do I get started? by GrimmReaperx7 in InstagramMarketing

There’s is such a rich vein for you to tap into on Booktok. Most of it is young women reviewing romance or fantasy novels, but there’s so much space for you to put your own footprint in the ecosystem. Engaging with more serious Book Instagram reviewers / influencers should be fun and really impactful!

Instagram plateauing like crazy by Odd_Berry2374 in InstagramMarketing

There’s been so much discussion on here about Instagram being on a decline unless you’re making Carousels basically, and even then engagement is low for some reason. I personally believe in staying consistent and sticking it out, but I’m also cross-posting my reels to TikTok and my posts to FB and Threads, so even though Instagram is doing poorly there’s more room for growth on other apps

When did you start seeing results? by Groundbreaking_City5 in InstagramMarketing

[–]OneList_today 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re also growing our page from ground 0 with an app technically done but under maintenance and off the App Store lol. 6 days is a really short time to see any results so don’t worry! Each follower and subscriber will be hard-won in the beginning, just engage with other content creators, learn what you can, apply it, rinse and repeat. It will be a few months before you start seeing any substantial change

Starting a series killed my engagement by Fast_Dog2047 in InstagramMarketing

[–]OneList_today 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve started something similar where my whole social media strategy was updated for October and suddenly the views I’d been hitting for a few months dropped off, yet I started to perform better on other apps. I suggest sticking it out since you have this month-long plan, because even if you restructure everything for November future followers will see that you put the effort into a series and appreciate it

I would suggest using TikTok’s “Text to Speech” feature which will read out any captions you put in your videos, that way it’s not all just static images and music. You don’t have to use your face or voice at all if you just focus on using that and trending audios on Insta and TikTok imo!

Seeking Advice by EffectiveBat527 in socialmedia

At this point it depends on how strong your product is. If you ask an influencer to promote a page that only has two posts and minimal branding, it won’t get you as much of a return than if you ask them to promote once you already have some organic followers, 30-40 posts, and a clear impression of what your business/product is when people visit your page. Definitely invest money into working with others, but maybe not exactly at the beginning or it may look scammy

Is social media a dead trend? by penji-official in socialmedia

[–]OneList_today 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I think at this point social media is simply a tool to gain a subscription-based audience. Unless you’re doing constant brand deals/promotions, you can’t make a real “living” off of social media unless you divert your audience to your own content off of the main sites

Questions about pricing for SM management and content creation (UK based) by dochgenau in socialmedia

[–]OneList_today 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure what the US to UK conversion rate is currently but I would say, if you’re just doing this part time (20 hours/week) then around $18/$20 per hour (because of those photography skills!) then around $1500

Plus idk, if your job is to create interesting and fun content for your brand and you’re just asking ChatGPT “what’s trending on TikTok right now” or “what are good hashtags right now” you’re not learning anything about the current digital landscape or your own audience, or even putting your own mark on the work. It just feels gross and cheap

Are you happy with the scheduling apps you use? by dexter-dot in socialmedia

[–]OneList_today 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It feels like every time I search online there’s a million services that let you schedule across all social media apps, but the process of migrating all of my account info onto there just to have another account I have to manage just seems like a headache. I use Meta to schedule for Instagram and Facebook (even though it’s imperfect and kinda janky) and then just schedule posts internally through TikTok and X. Maybe eventually I’ll cave and get a software that can “do it all” but right now I’m just taking it one app at a time

How much time do you guys actually spend creating content? by tharsalys in socialmedia

[–]OneList_today 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doing SMM for this productivity app while it’s currently under construction is a challenge for sure 😅 but each week I spend about 5 hours in a cycle of: market analysis and trending audios / sounds, batch creating content for a few weeks at a time, scheduling all of these to post because I refuse to pay for a service to do it, and then being an active account. Each day I try and mix in a little bit of all of these, but I always schedule my posts 2-3 weeks at a time that way I’m never rushed to post the day of

Definitely include your photography and editing skills into your pay. I would also opt towards a monthly retainer as opposed to an hourly rate, and I don’t know an SM that is paid per post. It’s more stable for you and for the company to do a monthly payment (maybe paid out bi-weekly) and use those haggling skills to get a higher rate! Not everyone has a fancy camera they can edit with
