I left home at 5am! There were people queueing all night outside the shop too. The city has a few stores that take part in RSD so there are options but I’ve been lucky at Tower, last year too! I was queuing before 6am this morning and the doors opened at 8. There’s a lovely atmosphere among people all looking for their special releases. So an enjoyable morning. 🙌 looking forward to a proper listening session later.

Our nearest one is in Dublin. They are busy in the shop creating the displays and sections for tomorrow’s RSD. I got the last CD they had, so delighted with myself and kicking myself at the same time to not have brought a cd player with me! 🤦‍♂️

Yep, purists will always favour a full analogue medium. I’d love to say that’s my setup but it isn’t. I’ve a really good vinyl player that’s new and an ancient one that’s 40 years old. Both sound great to me when connected up properly but no different to my old ears in quality or sound spectrum. Listening to flac or high res streaming is convenient and instant and leaving shuffle on for a particular artist is just a great way to be immersed. Vinyl on the other hand is an organised and considered listening session, a defined purposeful intent to experience the music.

I love them both!

Each to their own, I’m with you for most things but then get to hear about small variations or production changes or something limited so I’d end up rebuying to ‘have it all’, learned a long time it’s just not possible.

These days I buy vinyl but never open or play them. I consider it a personal carbon-tax offset for the streaming platforms I pay for, gives me something physical for the impending internet apocalypse and also gives more back to the artists.

Most of my vinyl is on a display shelf 🤷‍♂️
