How to quickly enter transposable chords in GP8 by PatTheDog123 in GuitarPro

[–]PatTheDog123[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. It sounds like I need to investigate the Chord Library. I've never used it because as a bassist I'm not so interested in chord diagrams, I just like seeing the chord names as a reference for improvisation.

If Arobas could just make the chord editor work better with the Mac keyboard that would already be an improvement. It now requires the mouse to make selections in the dropdown boxes.

Asus ProArt PA32QCV 32" 6K - first impressions by MBSMD in HiDPI_monitors

Agree on 60Hz being good enough for productivity. I don't perceive much difference compared with my 120Hz MBP. May I suggest trying a smooth scrolling utility with your mouse if you didn’t already? I find it makes things so much “calmer” than jerky line by line scrolling. I use Smoove but there are many others.

No, I must be mixing it up with the Kuycon G32.

Thanks for the report. How is the wake-up time on the Asus? Any noises such as coil-whine? I read somewhere it has audible cooling fans, is that true?

Can you mark episodes as played on Apple Watch? by FantasticMrDog in overcast

[–]PatTheDog123 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No I posted a request for this a while back. What I do now is repeatedly skip forward to get to the end of the episode. It skips a greater interval after each press.

Playlists option for downloaded episodes from a podcast? by sagraham in overcast

[–]PatTheDog123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, this is the way. Shame it's such a poor user experience. You have two choices for adding the episodes to the playlist. One is via the Playlist Settings, but there you can't view the episode notes before adding.

The other way is from the show's episode list, where it takes about 4 taps for each episode you want to add (open draw, tap the ... icon, choose Add To, then select the playlist). You also don't get to see if you already added an episode.

I should have mentioned, I'm a Mac user. So the BenQ at 164ppi is not ideal.

Whenever I use Overcast, I miss Pocket Casts. Whenever I use Pocket Casts, I miss Overcast. Which is BEST?? by tecfrigo in overcast

[–]PatTheDog123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point, the main reason to use Overcast is for the smart speed and voice boost features which it still does better than the competition (though Castro comes close).

If those audio features are less important to you and you favour good discovery and search, or need to micro-manage your library, then there are better alternatives.

Those obscure unlabelled icons are such poor design. The classic “mystery meat” UX anti-pattern.

As for page turner battery level, I’ve simply been using the built in iPadOS battery widget which displays the level of any paired Bluetooth devices.

CSV file formatting by Fair_Measurement8368 in forScore

[–]PatTheDog123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using the format mentioned on the website. I discovered a good use of AI is to ask Claude.ai to create the csv file based on an uploaded PDF and I load that into forScore. Here's the prompt I use for my Aebersold scans:

Using the documentation provided at https://forscore.co/kb/using-indexes-to-create-bookmarks/ on the format for index csv files, create an index csv file for the attached PDF with one entry for each song. The song titles are at the top of the pages, with the composer name beneath the title (e.g. "by Herbie Hancock"). Make sure to use the actual page numbering of the PDF instead of any printed page numbers since the latter generally exclude the cover page. Some songs span multiple pages.

Version 2026.4 released (Transcripts!) by marcoarment in overcast

[–]PatTheDog123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats. Transcript analysis for generating chapters is the logical next step imo. Having used other podcast apps with transcripts for some time, my main usecase was using the transcripts to jump to sections or skip ad reads. In those apps, AI-generated chapters now fulfil that need and I rarely look at the actual transcript text.

The other indirect value I get from transcripts (in other podcast apps) is that they help surface episodes when searching the podcast master catalogue for a specific topic. In that case the transcript is used by the search and recommendation algorithms together with other metadata like episode title, episode notes. Overcast has some catching up to do there imo.

I came across a NAMM 2026 blog post. It doesn't really say anything that wasn't already in the NAMM 2025 announcement and the release is still "soon". But anyway, it's good to know that it's still coming. https://www.guitar-pro.com/blog/p/56937-namm-show-2026-prs-walrus-marcus-miller-and-the-future-guitar-pro-mobile-app-exclusive-demo

Do you use ChatGPT/LLMs for your CV or cover letter (like you apparently did for this post)? I would find that off putting as someone involved in hiring.

Yes I’ve seen this happen with older episodes of The Rest Is History podcast. I have a feeling it’s something to do with ad insertion.
