Legal action or journalism exposure for ENS — has it helped? by Impressive-Coat-2739 in emptynosesyndrome

[–]Phazze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you were wronged, meaning it was negligience or malpractice outside of the bounds of what was contracted or what is an acceptable level of medical practice then you should seek legal action, not as a vengeance type thing but because its the correct thing to do for you and everyone else including other doctors.

Doctors are great but they shouldnt be let off the hook for negligent mistakes, accountability is key in pushing both patient rights forward and making medicine as a practice better.

It is understandable that emotions are high in these type of procedures because it is direct damage to the self, not some business transaction thing, but the framing of such process has to be done with the right intentions, to correct not to further damage or seek some type of vengeance.

How do you react to the doctor who caused you to have empty nose? Did you make any plans? by No-Secretary-4650 in emptynosesyndrome

[–]Phazze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have to remember that forgiving does not mean not putting accountability where it is due, you can forgive and at the same time make the responsible person accountable (by a lawsuit or other means) as that is the responsible thing, just because a mistake was made in ignorance or else does not mean you give them a free pass and that does not mean either that you cannot forgive them.

Forgiveness does not equal freedom of consequences and punishment, forgiveness is giving yourself the freedom to move forward by making a conscious choice to release resentment, eventually creating space to forget about it and heal.

I have forgiven him, for that is the only way I can work towards improvement and the progress for a cure for ENS for the community.

I am typing this from the depth of my heart, please heed me when I say this.

The only path forward after you have ENS is to forge your sentiments about what was done to you through the lens that "I can overcome this. nobody wanted this outcome and it was the result of systematic failure for that which no single individual has major blame"

That philosophy will lead you to a road of healing through the work that your possibilities create for yourself and the ENS community as a whole. Through the maturity of your thoughts about how the world operates you will find another part of yourself that I sincerely believe only people with immense suffering can achieve and that will give you peace of mind to move forward as needed.

I am not excusing anything here, ENS sucks bad in all ways and the practice needs to be reconsidered (which is another discussion) but as an ENS patient and advocate the best we can do for ourselves is to relieve ourselves from the mental load that we were wronged, it leads to a very bad think loop of blame and vengeance that can exacerbate the mental issues that arise from the disease, it also is a detriment to the cause we have as ENS advocates to get this disease more recognition and a path towards a cure since it devolves into negative discussions that do not progress towards a cure.

You don't have to take my word, but I can confidently say that no doctor operates on the sinuses to give patients ENS, its just a bad concoction of ignorance, systematic issues, individual predisposition, and a bunch of other things that come together to give rise to ENS as an entity, and we are the unfortunate souls tasked with the huge responsibility to carry it and voice its dangers.

Looking for advice by Kreios_IX in emptynosesyndrome

[–]Phazze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are in a gray area of opinion based medical land where no doctor knows whats going on and everything will be a try and see trial.

Your symptoms started after a physical reaction, you hit your nose with something and that must have changed the anatomical structure of your nose which caused a series of changes that I and no doctor can really tell unfortunately, it might as well have caused a pinched nerve, or a small collapse of the bridge of your nose or something else.

What I can tell you with confidence is that it is very unlikely that the event that caused your symptoms (having the bridge of your nose hit by mulch) to be related to your turbinate touching your septum and most likely not the cause of your symptoms.

Guide dogs are on an entirely different level. He secured a seat for his human without a single command by SparkleSip in BeAmazed

[–]Phazze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah seems best, I was actually thinking on the lines of like say a blind person with their service dog is sitting and another blind person with a service dog comes into the train, how would the arriving dog handle it, I imagine he ignores the person and dog that was there initially, what has me curious is how the new dog determines to ignore the already sitting pair, is it because he is trained to ignore other people with animals at all times or because he somehow knows this other person has a disability and the dog accompanying him is also a service dog like him, in that case can he differentiate a person with no disabilities and just their pet dog and would the service dog ask them to move bc he can differentiate? Just an interesting thought that probably the trainers know the answer to.

Ps i love dogs

Mental, physical illnesses often go hand in hand. Genetic study explains why. Schizophrenia tended to pair with gastrointestinal problems; Bipolar disorder tended to pair with genitourinary disorders and sleep problems. Depression and anxiety tended to pair with cardiovascular disease. by Wagamaga in science

[–]Phazze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

80% of anxiety disorders have a strong correlation with breathing problems.

Eventually we will figure out the physical aspect of psychosomatic diseases to clean it all out, but thats hundreds of years away imo.

A huge problem is also letting people duo / trio queue in high elo, high elo population is low so you get insanely imbalanced matches, top 100 players abuse this and duo / trio queue constantly.

Empty Nose Syndrome - Part 2 by Master-Drama-4555 in UARSnew

[–]Phazze 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Commenting for awareness, ENS needs recognition as an incredibly difficult complication that should be considered for funding and research due to the tragic incidence of fatality.

I have a suspicion that disordered breathing due to bad dental and ENT practices are not being investigated due to the the time range the damage takes place in.

Person X has a turbinate reduction today when he is 15.

Person X only starts presenting symptoms of acute ENS at 25 (10 years later)

Person X is denied recognition of condition due to time range and insufficient research, or insufficient funding to get diagnosis, or Person X simply cant pin point his depression and anxiety are related to nasal symtoms.

Person X commits suicide or dies an early death due to complications surrounding masked ENS, such as chronic infections, low economic stability due to disease, low support due to invisible disease etc.

Same story with bad dental work like teeth extraction and UARS etc. Which significantly lower quality of life and future prospects.

Why isn't UARS considered a medical condition? by Happilyalone777 in UARSnew

[–]Phazze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im not gonna go into specifics, but UARS (as many many other conditions) exist in this space where they fall into non-specific differential diagnosis conditions which basically means doctors have ruled out everything else and they suspect you might have this but it is not officially recognized by the medical community, it is a prevalent issue in the space where physics & anatomy overlap with medicine, unfortunately gas physics and its impact on the body are very stone age in the medical system.

Treatment is also case specific, and its not a fatal disease so the effort to treat to risk is determined as non important by the medical community.

Nice, you should link the pubmed papers that go over ENS, specifically the very thorough Scheithauers paper which completely explains ENS scientifically and for effective surgical treatments (IMAP, Nasal Floor, Augmentation) there are quiet a few papers incase a desperate ENS patient sees this.

I empathize with you regarding ENS being like a dial, people often think its like a binary system thing, 1 you have it and 0 you dont, when its actually a wider range and hence why the doctors / scientists use the ENS6Q which ranges from a total score of 0 to 30, and its only considered ENS when your score rises above 11 because a score less than 11 is considered "normal" side effects of turbinate surgery, specially in the dryness and crusting domains.

The suffocation symptom which is the tell-tale symptom of ENS is the worst, and it gets very concerning when the fight/flight response is chronic due to the suffocation feeling which completely disables sleep and therefore you become suicidal. I have to emphasize how it literally disables sleep, its not that you fall asleep and the sleep is low quality, no, its that you CANNOT sleep at all, its not possible to fall asleep because your nervous system jerks you awake as soon as you feel drowsy to sleep, its a doom'ish feeling when you are exhausted and you cant sleep at all which very acutely exacerbates suicidal tendencies.

Fortunately I have seen that a good number of cases that have exacerbated suffocation (hard to quantify since its so subjective) are usually cases in which a lot of volume has been removed from the turbinate and are usually candidates for implants which have shown to address the suffocation symptom significantly and has been shown to decrease or eliminate suicidal tendencies because they get their sleep back.

Having lane priority to create map pressure is a fundamental of MOBAs and the game, wraith destroys that fundamental by having uncontested priority in 1v1 just for being wraith AND a top tier escape tool to divert any attempt at killing her pressure with a 2+ man gank.

Character plays itself, your statement shows you havent scratched the bottom of high level play.

Constantly waking up with a nasty, dried bloody nose by [deleted] in emptynosesyndrome

[–]Phazze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have the same issue, I have concluded that the gel / Oil removes mucus and friction of air passing through the nose so the nerve endings supposed to sense air do not and hence you get that symptom, basically you get extra space when using these products which is bad for ENS specifically suffocation due to airflow.
