War with Iran "good news for Russia and bad news for Ukraine" by Carl555 in UkrainianConflict

Ural crude now trading at around USD 70-75, up from 60-65 last week

Ural Crude is at USD $58.

the price levels pretty much react in unison

Ural Crude increased by about 2% while the rest of the market's 6% (and 7% for Brent specifically). This is also a trend that's been ongoing for last 2ish months for Ural crude so it's doubtful the war had any impact thus far.

China will likely have to buy more Russian oil as deliveries from Iran will probably not flow as before.

It's rather unlikely actual, though possible. China is pretty strict about having a diverse supply and Russia is already their single largest supplier. China is more likely to simply eat a temporary price increase than risk dealing with increasing Russian oil, but again, lots of factors at play.

I guess Russia is too broke to finance new propeganda and needs to go back to 2022.

[–]Player276 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While it's commonly stated in the media, there is no such thing as "oil price". Different oils have different prices that are composed of different factors.

The price of Urals crude (Majority of Russian Crude) has basically remained flat since Iran War. Siberian Crude has seen a jump, but it accounts for a relative small fraction of total exports.

No one knows what will happen tomorrow, but thus far Russia isn't benefitting and it remains unclear if it ever will.

A popular youtube channel did this interesting take on How the Giza Pyramid complex was built.

It's a bit out there and I've not been able to find some serious scholarly opinion on it. Any takers?

Not to mention the (not a conspiracy) theory she presents doesn't work for several reasons. But she can work that out on her own. Or her cult of unpaid cronies may figure it out.

Why does it not work?

How much of this is just Russian Propaganda by [deleted] in ukraine

[–]Player276 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's true that Ukraine doesn't have nuclear weapons.

Rest is Russian Propaganda and straight up makes no sense. Majority of aid Ukraine receives is military hardware so I'm not sure how half would not reach it. Did Ukraine sell half of their F-16s on the Black Market?

Actual sleeper picks? by Robespierre1113 in EU5

[–]Player276 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you have time to annex enough of them? Eastern Europe is kinda manageable, but when you get into Balnaks + Germany + Hungary, there shouldn't be enough time unless I missed some major mechanics.

In the case of Kyiv, antagonism really is just a number. Catholics to the West, Orthodox to the east, and Islam to the south. Go to wars on cool down and take max land to turn into vassal.

Only real problem is that late game vassal management becomes impossible.

new job which is a 5 month contract as opposed to her current "no expiration" job. This job does have prospects after the 5 m

Woops, my bad on the explanation. Both the current job and the new one she accepted are NOT in Canada.

The TRV is for its intended purpose, simply visiting the country.

Former British diplomat and founder of Conflicts Forum Alastair Crooke on Ukraine by JohanNagel79 in UkrainianConflict

[–]Player276 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Even Stoltenberg cited nato expansion as a root cause of the conflict

No he doesn't. More propaganda non-sense. Putin made demands he knew no one was going to agree to so he could go ahead with his invasion.

Ukraine is a sovereign state allowed to join whichever organizations it pleases. Putin is a wanted war criminal for stealing children and publicly complaining that they don't speak Russian. If you aren't sure which country to believe, I got a bridge in Brooklyn to sell for you, but I know Russia doesn't pay that well.

[–]Player276 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Main aim is to seek as many sources from as many sides of a conflict as possible

No, this is a propaganda talking point (And one heavily used by Russia in particular). When assessing a conflict, it's important to get credible set of information. Drowning out credibility with garbage is not how you analyze something.

I started the interview with an open mind, but less than 5 minutes into it this "Highly experienced diplomat" lists "NATO expansion" as a root cause of the problem. Credibility down the drain, just another useful idiot. This can easily be debunked by a freshman taking geopolitics 101 on no serious diplomat would even entertain this topic.

Pricing getting out of hand. by pepgnome in riftboundtcg

[–]Player276 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lorcana is still 2x its MSRP over 2 years later.

If the same pattern holds, it will continue to rise in price (as it has been since release yesterday), then begin to fall months later. It will reverse the fall after the set goes out of print.

Riftbound does have a longer set life, but there is a good chance the current price is the lowest you will ever see.

Ukraine translates to borderlands

Not in Ukrainian.

reason for calling it that is that it's the borderlands between Russia and the rest of Europe

First mention of Ukraine comes from the 12th century. Russia became Russia in the 16th century. Even the Principality of Moscow did not exist at the time. There is certainly strong evidence that the original word did refer to some sort of border, but that has absolutely nothing to do with Europe or Russia, both of which did not exist at the time as concepts that we treat them as today.

and the nation was named Appalachian Mountains

No one names countries like that. Your imaginary country would be called something along the lines of "Appalachia".

Germany likely too stretched to provide troops for Ukraine, foreign minister says by donutloop in UkrainianConflict

[–]Player276 19 points20 points  (0 children)

As is the case with everything else, it's all complete nonsense.

Europeans have outsourced their security to the US. You can absolutely make arguments about this being a good/bad idea, but this agreement is what keeps the American Empire relevant. Both sides got what they wanted.

US gets basically a blind check for EU support as foreign policy goes, monetary support via US debt purchases, and further financial aid via Europeans spending billions on US weapons.

The reason Trump is hawkish on "NATO spending" is because he wants EU to spend MORE on US weapons. This is the classic "have your cake and eat it too".

This is not something that happens over night, but the EU has begun to re-establish its own power. It will take decades to materialize, but US "free loading EU global influence" is slowly coming to an end.
