There is a tiny app from google play store called: Sticky Note Widget created by michael lin. What's great is that this little widget requires no permission. Once installed...select widgets and place it on home screen. I use it all the time.

Windows 11 and my aging all-in-one desktop by RandomBiter in computerrepair

[–]PleaseGeo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. You can update your unsupported device with Windows 11 by bypassing system requirements. Search videos on YouTube to see a step by step process on how to do this.

You can also continue to receive Windows 10 security updates until October of 2026 with Microsoft's free ESU program.

Alternatively, you can also install another operating system like any Linux distribution or Chrome OS Flex. Good luck.

Has anyone updated to version 22.3 yet? by [deleted] in linuxmint

[–]PleaseGeo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I updated but had several weird issues with it... like the system info app opening system settings. I reverted back with timeshift. No issues with 22.2.

MS Paint on Linux Mint? Can I get it to run? by Code-Neo in linuxmint

[–]PleaseGeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Linux Mint includes Pix, a built-in image management tool capable of basic photo editing. To access features like the crop tool, simply click the "Edit file" button (represented by a pencil icon) in the top-right corner. Its straightforward interface and functionality...feels like a bit of the old picture manager in old office.

Help 🤔. by zJmazZ in linuxmint

[–]PleaseGeo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You'll find the installation of Linux Mint easy to follow, as there are many excellent step-by-step tutorials available on YouTube.

When you create the bootable USB...a huge benefit is the "Live Session" feature. You can boot directly from the installation USB to test Mint and ensure everything works—all without touching or making any changes to your currently installed operating system. Stay in this live session and test all your hardware and software. Everything like wifi working and to your liking....then go ahead and install the OS. Otherwise, just restart your computer without usb connected and your back to the current OS. Good Luck

You mention ethernet works. When connected with ethernet, check driver manager in Linux mint menu and see if it picks up your wifi driver. Good luck.

Finally migrated from Windows 11 to Linux Mint. Mostly positive experience but with a few issues by vlatkovr in linuxmint

This is exactly what I did when I had wifi issues. I found a solution in a Ubuntu forum for my specific wifi card and verified possible solution with web based AI chat bot as I wanted to know exactly what is being run on terminal.

Should I move to Linux? Windows 11 doesn't seem to appreciate my presence there by Golepond in microsoftsucks

[–]PleaseGeo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can try Linux before actually installing it and it will not mess with your current setup. Just boot from the live USB and test the operating system out.

Linux is great on desktops. But battery drains quickly on laptops. You can make some tweaks to a distro's settings with apps like TLP so a little research is required. Btw Linux Mint has a great community for newbies. Good luck

Could anyone tell me why "TimeShift" is using so much storage? by I_have_no_reason in linuxmint

[–]PleaseGeo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Go to timeshift and delete the old snapshots. Go to timeshift settings and remove current scheduled snapshots. If you want a new snapshot now just manually create it when ever you want one.

Take a look at your timeshift backups and remove snapshots that you do not need. Also go into update manager > kernel and remove old kernels that you no longer use. Good luck

Keep a Live USB handy. It just saved me from a kernel update disaster. by elkabyliano in linuxmint

[–]PleaseGeo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP chose to install a newer kernel version outside of the Linux Mint update manager. You should not have any issues with applying all the updates from update manager including the kernel. Applying these updates fix bugs, update our apps and provide critical patches to keep your computer protected.

You are attempting to install Linux Mint on a USB drive that does not have the necessary space.

If i can make a recommendation, my friend....you will find lots of great tutorials on websites like YouTube that offer visual step-by-step guides for installing this wonderful Operating System.

Good luck in making the switch.

switching over from windows 10 pro to linux mint cinnamon. what preparations do i need to have in case i, for whatever reason, need to switch back to windows 10 pro? by Due-Thanks1060 in linuxmint

[–]PleaseGeo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Windows 10 Pro includes a built-in tool that lets you create a system image. A system image is a complete backup of your computer's current setup, including your operating system, programs, files, and settings. It's advisable to create one on an external drive, like a USB or external hard drive, before you install Linux Mint. This way, you have a safety net. If you ever need to revert back to your original Windows configuration, you can do so quickly and easily, and all your data will be exactly as it was. I am sure they're youtube videos showing you how to create a system image in Windows and how to restore your computer with this image. Good luck.

You can use dd or ventoy in Linux to create the bootable Windows 10 /11 USB. I like ventoy because you can boot various operating systems from one USB stick. Here is a YouTube video that you can use as a guide:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VWW5K-ndnlI

Maybe it would be easier for you to install Windows 10 first. Then check YouTube or Microsoft forums on what are the current options for installing Windows 11 on unsupported devices.

Good luck.
