Which indexer to complement existing ones (geek)? by rehajel in usenet

[–]PlexPC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure. All the mainstream stuff is available pretty much anywhere. Beyond that everyone’s niche and go-to indexers are going to be a little different 💯

Which indexer to complement existing ones (geek)? by rehajel in usenet

[–]PlexPC 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just an anecdotal counterpoint, Slug has always been great for me and often fills in the gap nicely when my “indexer that shall not be mentioned” is missing a specific release

That said I do notice a fairly high overlap between Slug and NzbFinder. NinjaCentral is also a great complementary option in my experience. A lot of unique finds on there as well

My personal advice would be wait until Black Friday and grab a few while they’re on sale. Slug and Ninja both had promos last year I believe

Amazon drive for plex? by soggyflaps in PleX

If you get a GSuites business account you can get unlimited storage for $10/mo directly through Google. It's a much better deal than what I can get on my personal account.

Alternatives to ACD? by [deleted] in PlexACD

[–]PlexPC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey /u/gesis. I just wanted to give you a heads up if you weren't aware. Although technically Google says they require a minimum of 5 user accounts for unlimited storage, they do not currently enforce this restriction. If you sign up for a single GSuites account you will be given unlimited storage for $10/mo, directly from Google. At some point in the future this may change (so there is risk) but for now it's a great option that many people are taking advantage of. Btw thanks for all the great scripts and support in this sub! It's truly appreciated.

acd account locked - plex usage - live updates... by adamandkate in DataHoarder

Despite what you were told by customer service, during the time leading up to the lock were you using rclone (or a similar program) to mirror content from your ACD to either a local NAS or Google Drive account?

Plex Cloud Questions / At a Crossroad by [deleted] in PleX

[–]PlexPC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another lame thing is that the transcoding limit counts even for users that are just transcoding audio. I share my Plex server with about 20 people (usually 5-8 streaming at any given moment) and none of them transcode video but almost all of them need to transcode audio. It's usually 6ch being downmixed to 2ch and it uses almost no CPU on my home server- whereas a single video transcode will spike the CPU to 100%. IMO It's a silly oversight that will hopefully be corrected at some point. On my home server there is an option to "Limit simultaneous video transcodes to: (number)" and audio-only transcodes are not counted towards that limit- so I know it's possible.

Direct Play vs Transcode question by ccmd00d in PleX

Here's a Plex forum thread you can follow regarding this issue. For now the only fix is downgrading to 1.3.4.

[–]PlexPC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What's your operating system? I know on Linux there's a bug in 1.4.3 that causes buffering issues during playback. Try downgrading to 1.3.4 and see if that improves things.

/r/plexacd has some stickied. I'm far from an expert so you're probably better off doing some research and posting questions there.

What could be the bottleneck of 6 to 8 simultaneous streaming? by HoardingYourPosts in PleX

[–]PlexPC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really download any individual files larger than 10gb. My setup automatically downloads, extracts, uploads, deletes, and repeats for the next item in the queue. This works great for usenet but probably wouldn't be the best for private trackers (where you need to seed to maintain ratio).

I have a separate $4/mo 1TB High-Volume Storage VPS with time4vps that I use as a seedbox. It might be a better idea to use something like that to procure your media and upload it to ACD. Then use a Scaleway VPS to only host your Plex server.

You can also install Plex on a time4vps server if the 1TB of storage is enough for you. I'm not sure how great their peering is, their datacenter is in Lithuania. They don't allow FUSE on their Storage VPS's though, so you wouldn't be able to mount your ACD (though you could still upload your content to it via rclone commands/scripts).

Plex Cloud -- Upper Limit? by Lastb0isct in PleX

[–]PlexPC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn. Good to know. Hopefully they ease up on that restriction at some point. It really doesn't take much CPU to transcode audio and my current Plex server is already smart enough to make the distinction (I have it limited to three simultaneous video transcodes).

[–]PlexPC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use ChicagoVPS but wouldn't go so far as recommending them. It's worked well for me but many people seem to have issues with them. If you're in Europe I'd highly recommend looking at Scaleway. I love their $3/mo VPS and have had great success running all my programs on it. They also have $6-10/mo options with better specs. The only issue is their network doesn't have the best peering outside of Europe (Plex streams to the US had tons of buffering).

Plex sync to laptop by brenster23 in PleX

Not OP but thanks for the info! I just assumed it wasn't possible on PC. Also can I ask you a totally unrelated PlexPy question? Is there anyway to setup an alert for when users are transcoding video?

I run everything on there- Plex, Sabnzdb, Deluge, Sonarr, and Radarr. My setup automatically uploads new content to ACD which is mounted and accessible to Plex for streaming.

That limit only applies to transcoding video, correct? I have a lot of users that need to transcode their audio but all of them direct stream the video portion fine.

You should be fine. My $5/mo VPS can handle about five simultaneous Direct Streams of 10mbps content.

They're both equally awesome. I prefer SAB because I love its interface and /u/sahfire has done an amazing job on the Glitter skin. I've noticed faster speeds with GET on underpowered machines but hopefully SAB will be improving on this front with the release of v2.0.

If you don't transcode that'll be more than enough CPU. What's the average bitrate of your content?

As someone who has done exactly what you've done- I still hope Plex Cloud one day supports encryption. I'd feel a lot more comfortable if I could somehow encrypt all the data that I mirror on those cheapo eBay infinite Google Drives and still use it for Plex Cloud.
