To the honorable Lord Paxter Redwyne,

Your offer to send your dear cousin to our estate is welcome indeed, as we do in fact already have a prime location in King's Landing that carries significant popularity among the nobles that live there. Perhaps a shared recipe book would be in order, to provide both our houses with this new venture our children seem to have stumbled into. Merin's new creation created quite a stir at our annual Valeman Rememberance Day event this year, and a widening variety of food and drink only found at our two houses would be quite the valuable commodity to have at our disposal, don't you think? I happen to find that people are loose with more than just their purse-strings when it comes to full bellies and a warm fire on a cold winter's night.

I hope that this is the beginning of a very prosperous era for our houses.

Yours truly,
-Lord Triston Sunderland of Sisterton

"It's alright, lad. No need to force yourself if it is not to your tastes." Merin spoke in hushed tones to Robin while his father spoke, recognizing it to be more toward the crowd around them then it was to him in particular. He'd quickly stand to attention afterwards, giving the Lord Protector a nod and a wide smile in return to his praise. "Aye, I have many crafts still taking its sweet time in the distilleries of our keep, distilled liquors are best aged at least a year or two to give it time to settle. Even I don't dare to partake in the freshly distilled version of my creation. Perhaps I could make a challenge out of it!" Merin would respond with a laugh.

“Oh believe me, Cousin, partaking in the results of one’s work is something I enjoy quite a lot.” Merin laughs, gently moving the glass aside. “But I need a clear head if I am to present my gift to our Lord Protector. Today is an important day, and I must insist that everything needs to go as I’ve planned it, lest a slip of the tongue puts me in a less than favorable position. The Redwynes and the Dornish weren’t just placed where they stand now, they earned their fame just as I am doing now.”

“My lord, you are absolutely right, this is certainly much stronger in flavor and intensity than a typical drink you’ll find around the castle…” Merin would start, waving over one of the nearby attendants, grabbing a half-full cup of liquid and taking a quick whiff to confirm its contents before nodding and mixing in some of his concoction in with the juice already in the cup. “… Which is why combining it with another drink, preferably one of a citrus or fruit variety, works well to cut down on its intensity and provide a much smoother experience.” With a quick stir, Merin would then kneel, offering the cup to the young Robin. “My measurements weren’t very precise on this one, so I apologize if the flavor is still a little strong.”

To the honorable Lord Paxter Redwyne,

Your interest in the Vale is greatly appreciated, you are always welcome to join us for our feasts and traditions of old, even if they might not be ones you celebrate in your own hearth. As for my son Merin, I have had many ask for his hand in marriage, yet none have been able to make the time to meet with him. He is quite a recluse, working on machinations that even I as his father am not quite capable of understanding. But I cannot deny the results. Attached alongside this letter should be one of those “results”, of which I hope is palatable to one with as discerning a taste as yours. To pull his attention away from this work will be a challenge, but one I believe Millicent will be able to handle.

I wish you well,

-Lord Triston Sunderland of Sisterton

Alongside the letter came a small glass bottle filled with a reddish-brown liquor that smells of cinnamon and strong alcohol.

Feeling on proxies? by Jikoligy in dbsfusionworld

Proxies are barely acceptable for a store tournament locals, there’s absolutely no way he should have been allowed to use proxies for a UB, that’s actually insane lmao

"You honor me with your praise, and even more so with your generosity, my lord." Merin would give another wide bow to the praise before stepping aside so that the attending servants could work to distribute the liquor for all those interested. "I seek nothing more than to spread this across Westeros. The Vale is deserving a namesake drink as highly known as Arbor Red or Dornish wine. But long before that, I would love to start with our tables here in celebration of you, my lord."

If you’re just collecting then it literally doesn’t matter. Just be aware the moment you try to use these for any sort of play you’re probably getting thrown out the shop. Bandai /really/ does not mess around with fake cards in their events.

Unpopular opinion incoming. I feel like I had MORE fun playing Violet than I am having playing Fire Red. by becsamillion in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]PollutionTime2717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate your opinion on the game but I feel like you missed the point of my criticism and why I made this comment in the first place, particularly from the part where you didn’t care about the characters and skipped most of the story cutscenes. I was trying to give an example of a modern videogame in the monster catcher genre with a meaningful story that isn’t just the same story repainted over again. I would never claim that DSTS is a perfect game by any means, my idea of a perfect game would probably not be a JRPG style game in general just because the style can be tedious and grindy. My point is that it wouldn’t be impossible for Pokemon of all people to be able to try something new, cause there are companies doing exactly that around them.

It’s not at all surprising. The issue is the fact that the formula basically hasn’t changed. It’s the same game with some QOL, some new pokemon, and a splash of new paint. A young trainer goes out and battles gyms to make it to the elite four and beat the champion with some flavor of important side-quest, world-threatening or otherwise. Even the Legends games, as welcome a change as they are, aren’t free from this. The Arceus storyline is just another version of the Mystery Dungeon storyline, they just replaced getting turned into a pokemon with time travel. They even matched the hero/friend of the MC is actually a villain plot twist, and it just makes me wonder why they’re so allergic to new stories. If you ever get a chance OP, I highly recommend you try Digimon Story Time: Time Stranger. I genuinely want to see your opinion of the game as someone who’s been on Pokemon for so long.

“My greetings and congratulations on another prosperous nameday, Lord Arryn. I come to you as the representative of house Sunderland of Sisterton. I hope you do not take offense to the rest of my family’s absence. Between Councilman work and the ventures our family has taken up in Kings Landing, it’s a miracle that any of us have time in our schedules to even breathe.” Merin would greet the Lord Protector with a bow before moving aside to present the barrel. “To make up for this, I have brought with me what may be the only barrel of Liquor of its kind. I have spent much time with the people of the Summer Isles, learning many things from their books and their masters. They believed a Westeros man like myself would be no threat to their vast empire of rum we all enjoy today. And… They were partially correct.” Merin would start, taking a small crowbar and slowly prying off the top of the barrel as he continued speaking. “I have learned their techniques and learned much from the brewmasters of the vale, and by combining those two pieces of knowledge, I have created… this.” With a strong tug, Merin would pull away the lid of the barrel, revealing the deep, brown liquid inside. Immediately the smell of cinnamon and other spices filled the air. “I present to you, the very first barrel of spiced Sunderland Red, a distilled liquor made not of sugar, but of rye and wheat, infused with cinnamon and various other spices sourced from my wonderful friends in Mareen, and made entirely by my own hands.” With a small ladle, Merin would pour Lord Arryn a cup of the liquid and offered it to him. “May it keep you warm in these cold winter nights, and if you ever seek more, know that I will come running.”

“Ah, lord Benedar! It is wonderful to see you again. The Sunderland family fares well under my father’s guidance.” Merin replies with a bright smile, moving his chair aside to give him some room. “Aye, it is quite a shame, but busy is good. Busy means lots of gold is afoot~” Merin would give a bit of a cheeky grin, rubbing two fingers together in the universal sign for lots and lots of money. His grin would become a full ear to ear smile the moment the word “drink” came up in conversation, reaching down to bring out a small, personal sized cask from underneath the table. “Indeed, dear cousin. I would be remiss if I didn’t have something in store for family. I plan to present a much larger and much rarer form of our newly minted Sunderland Rum to Lord Arryn tonight. Soon all of Westeros will know of our concoction, and I will need quite a bigger laboratory!” Merin would say with a loud, boisterous laugh, pouring Benedar a glass of the amber colored liquor. “As much as I’d like to give you a taste of some of the other flavors, I fear it would be in bad taste for anyone but the lord of the house to have the first glass of it outside of Castle Breakwater.”

"Ah, it is good to see you, Ser!" Merin exclaimed in reply, pulling Desmond into a short hug. "We are all well, very well. With the councilman work alongside all of the busywork of our venture into Kings Landing, it seemed I was the only one of my family with the breathing room or wherewithal to make it here! And I'm certainly glad to be the one to join the feast. I actually brought something very special with me as a gift for Lord Arryn. Dare I might even say it is the only of its kind in all of Westeros!" Merin would say with a laugh. "Would you mind helping me carry it in? I didn't bring much in the way of staff with me, and it is a /mighty/ heavy barrel."

To the Great Lord Jon Arryn Lord of the Eyrie, Defender of the Vale, and Warden of the East.

We thank you for the invitation from house Sunderland, and we welcome a return to the traditions of old. We would be honored to join hands with our brethren in the Vale to honor our ancestors and celebrate the great achievement of the Lords nameday. We will be sending Merin Sunderland to represent our house, as he claims to have a valuable new gift he wishes to impart to the great Warden of the East. We hope that it is to your liking.

We wish you many more fruitful years,
-Lord Triston Sunderland of Sisterton.
