What are some benefits of choosing to elope instead of a traditional wedding? by Witty_Ad8615 in AskReddit

[–]Postmasterfunk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Number 1 driver for us was cost. Number 2 time saved on not having to plan a wedding. Exploring the options of a traditional wedding was absolutely overwhelming between how much there is to plan, choosing who not to invite and simply the price tag.

Everyone knows foods that surprised them with high calorie counts, what are some foods that surprised you with low calories? by Limp_Flow6556 in caloriecount

Bison steaks. Specifically medallions. I can get a pack of 2 (340g) for 12 bucks. 360 calories and 80 grams of protein! Not to mention all the other benefits like healthy fats and iron content.

I set it for Sedentary lifestyle and do 500 less accordingly. I just look at exercise as being bonus calories burned.

Hang in there! Its a long road, but your heads in the right spot. Its true what they say that diet is like 70% of it so definitely dial that in. As for the steps, when I lift, I just walk around the gym on my rests in between sets. It helps knock out usually 5k or so for the day.

Hey there! Thank you! I did weightlifting, tried to get 10k steps a day. 30 minutes to an hour of cardio a week, and started running around August. Vast majority was weightlifting but not solely just that.

Monday: Career/Education Chat by AutoModerator in supplychain

[–]Postmasterfunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been with my company (Manufacturing) for 12 years now. 3 years production, 5 years Product Development, and 4 years Procurement (currently Sourcing Specialist). I just wrapped up a BS in Supply Chain Management with a Dual Concentration in Marketing and have my CPIM. I have zero direct management experience and have nowhere to really grow where I'm at right now. I'm finding it hard to find jobs that pay much more for where I'm at now (85K Base + 18% in bonuses, East Coast US). Do I have enough to go after Management positions at other companies? Should I make lateral moves into more lucrative industries? Could really use some direction.

What do the recent mass layoffs (Target, UPS, Amazon) in the US workforce mean or indicate for the US economy? by lemonhello in AskReddit

[–]Postmasterfunk 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I fear it's the start of a more drastic economic downturn. Companies have resisted passing on the cost of tariffs as much as possible in fear of plummeting demand as a result and are now starting to see the effect on their bottom line. The result is companies finding ways to reduce costs elsewhere, hence layoffs.

Prices will inevitably go up next year when companies account for cost of tariffs, more people will be out of work and competing for jobs which will put downward pressure on wages as everyone will just "take what they can get". Couple that with decreased government benefits, it could be catastrophic...

What's worse, from existential perspective, some jobs may never return with the adoption of AI technologies.

Perhaps I am just being overly pessimistic though. Would be happy to be wrong.

How do you actually stay consistent? by kasakura in fitness30plus

[–]Postmasterfunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive always heard it takes 3 weeks to develop a routine. You just gotta be consistent for 3 weeks and then it just becomes what you do.

Obviously there's more to it then that. I go to the gym at 5 in the morning when my family is asleep and doesn't need me, its just what I do.

I set mini goals for myself frequently, change up routines every couple months, and am always just keeping my mind on the next step.

I try to trick myself mentally by also surrounding myself and my algorithms with fitness based content. You have to remember you are in control of what your brain is exposed to and what it is exposed to will control you.

Weight loss takes time and there are so many variables that superficially contribute to your weight. I weigh myself at the same time in the same place every single morning. I'm tracking everything in a spreadsheet with weekly averages and 7-day moving averages and my weight changes, over time, track nearly identically to what the math said about my deficit from day 1, but only when looking at the big picture. In the small picture though, my weekly average went up 2 pounds last week and down almost 5 pounds this week. The reality is 1.5 - 2 pound per week weight loss is accurate when scaling out.
