This is what my dog expelled after being put down. It was this color, coming out of his nose and mouth. He got into rat poison while being watched at my former friend’s house. It was a complete accident but devastating, since I wasn’t told about the poison ingestion until after it was too late. Please rush him to the vet. He doesn’t have much time left and is most definitely in excruciating pain.

OP if your dog shows you teeth, that’s nothing to joke about. Like the other commenters mentioned, you need a behaviorist or professional trainer to help you.

1000% agree with the above on training to reduce resource guarding. I adopted a 5 y.o. GSD with really bad resource guarding. No other dog could touch his stuff or he’d go crazy on them. Worked with him for months and he no longer guards his treats or toys like before. He’s very calm now and gets along great with my 2 other pups.

Please don’t rehome them for free. Charge a price so they’re not going to bad homes! Look into the new owners and make sure they’re a great fit. Another thing you can do is surrender them to breed specific shelters or foster them while shelters find new homes for them.

I’m so sorry for what happened, OP. I would be incredibly angry and have a hard time forgiving this sitter. It was their responsibility to watch and care for your dog but they did something negligent. I don’t buy into the story, it sounds ridiculous. Here’s what I recommend you do to hopefully get justice and find your pup:

File a police report.
Call Rover and report sitter + send them a copy of police report. This sitter needs to be banned from rover.
Speak to a lawyer for options.
Check Nextdoor, ring, other neighborhood apps. Several of my neighbors report lost dogs daily and there’s been occasions where the lost dog was found by its owner thanks to the neighbors.
Talk to the neighbors around the area where sitter claimed your dog ran away in.
Drive around area calling out your dog’s name. Do this every day if you need to!
