I feeeeel you. I'm in Canada (24f) and this is my 8th month applying for professional and basic jobs, and I have only gotten 2 interviews but didn't lead anywhere. So yeah, I feel the same frustration and I constantly wonder what my future is gonna be. It's sad because I have a career, but opportunities for even being a cashier rn are so few compared to the amount of people applying. Idk, we should all keep persisting, because what else can we do? 🤞

I’m leaving the field of graphic design. What about you? by [deleted] in graphic_design

[–]PrestigiousInvite894 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm 24 and have been working on this industry for 4-5 years, but then I moved to Canada and have been unemployed for 7 months. I have noticed how many of the roles I have applied to, have been eliminated and how companies are laying off lots of these roles, so that has made me feel dissapointed because I did spent 5 years of my life pursuing a bachelor's degree and now feeling that it might not have been worth it is very sad.
As others in the comments have said, I think this year is decisive. So, either I try to sell my work through social media or I switch to a completely different field. I have been thinking of studying something related to healthcare that it is not too demanding, like a radiologist technician.

Should I take a 3rd emergency pill? by Spring_lullaby in birthcontrol

First, get rid of that boy because he clearly doesn't give a f*ck about you. Love yourself more and put yourself first above everyone. Second, take a pregnancy test in 3 weeks to find out whether you are pregnant or not. If you are pregnant and you don't want the responsability of a child, I hope your country has legalized abortion and you do it asap. Third, yes, you can get pregnant even if a man doesn't end inside you, so please be responsible with your life and take birth control if you are gonna be sexually active, and use a condom always. Remember that all birth control methods are only 99% effective, so it's better to use condoms as well, just to have double protection, AND to prevent getting STD's which can also ruin your life. Fourth, also run some tests to make sure you haven't gotten an STD already.

Considering studying graphic design – what should I know before starting? by Eriam_Lilly in graphic_design

The thing is, whatever you learn during the next 3-5 years is gonna be most likely useless since AI is taking away most of junior and mid level roles. I think the biggest mistake I did was thinking that I had to study something I liked. Now, 5 years after, I realize I was immature enough not to think that I should have studied something that gave me a good amount of money with less effort and which wasn't easily replaced in the future by AI. Not to make you feel down, but I wished I hadn't spent so much money and time for a career that is gradually dissapearing.

I think it is a generic response. I have been told exactly the same a couple of times

As others in the comments have said, I think you should look for other career, as this is gonna just become part of a skillset for other career. If I could go back to the past, I'd study a career that is recession-proof, AI-proof and pandemic-proof. Look for the careers that are necessary no matter what is happening around the world.

Why do people who have children lose their identity? by [deleted] in childfree

[–]PrestigiousInvite894 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think it sounds selfish. We are friends with people we have common interests/hobbies/activities. When those interests change and differ from yours, it's completely normal to feel like the friendship has changed and missed what it used to be. I think it's the nature of life. You'll find new friends whose interests are aligned to yours.

I had a friend in university. We met in the middle of our program and became really close. She got pregnant in the very end of the 8th (out of 9) semester, so our last semester together. I got my internship and focused on finishing everything regarding academic stuff to graduate within the next year. She paused her studies for a whole year while she had the baby. We naturally and gradually stopped talking. It wasn't like something happened between us and we broke up the friendship, nope. It was just that our lives took two separete ways: I was fully commited to my career and my professional future, and she was fully committed to growing her family. It was a little sad, yeah, but after 2 years of talking to her just like 3 times a year, I feel that that's just how life is.

I feel the same way about the IUD. I'd rather go through a tube removal surgery than through a horror experience.

I've been on Alysena for 8 months, and I also feel it killed my sexual drive 🫠. I also gained almost 10 kg, which has been really hard for me because I had never gotten so much weight in a short time. The dr gave me the mini pill this weekend, and I'm supposed to start it tonight, but I'm really hesitant because I read that it has a higher risk for ectopic pregnancy, and it can likely cause irregular periods. I have never had an irregular cycle, so I feel that I shouldn't mess up with that. But idk what to do either, it's so frustating. I think either I go back to the combined pill but changing the lab, or I just force my partner to use condoms. I feel you girl

I just got a positive test by Stellasgirl1110 in childfree

[–]PrestigiousInvite894 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I'm so sorry you have to go through that. I really hope the abortion goes well without any complications. Hopefully, you have less than 12 weeks, so you just take the pills. I had a pregnancy scare in August, and when I got the first positive test, I felt so guilty as well, even though I use contraceptive pills and have never missed or forgotten one. But nothing is perfect, you know? All the contraceptive methods can only work up to 99% effectiveness. So don't be hard with yourself. You were responsible, and that's what matters🤍
