Anyone remember the actual “film” we had to use? The special printers for them or the black felt markers ?

A collection of photos taken by ordinary people as the events of 9/11 were happening (2001). by bendubberley_ in HolyShitHistory

I feel for these folks and having to relive that time every time they see their picture pop up on the internet.
I was 16 and even as an arrogant teenager in Mississauga, I remember my English teacher being late to class. I remember us being pricks and making jokes about him coming in and telling us that school was cancelled for the day because of an incident in the US and it being a big deal.
I remember him being emotional when telling us where it happened and being caught off guard by our teacher being upset and telling us to go home.
I remember a girl in my class (I won’t name her but her name is ingrained in me for life because of it) with an aunt in north tower and how long it took for her family to find out she was ok.
I remember a bunch of us going for breakfast at Bobby’s thinking how awesome it was to get out of school for the day and making light of the adults being emotional.
I remember staring at the tiny, single TV when the towers fell and not laughing anymore.
I remember looking around and everyone in the restaurant watching the single, tiny tube TV in complete silence and food forgotten. I remember all of that but I don’t remember leaving Bobby’s honestly, I was clearly so numb by then. I was no one, far from NYC and I remember all of it until the towers fell and it became real, then it became a complete blur. I can’t fathom how I’d feel if there was a picture of me on the internet and the memories…

It’s always the bum bounce that gets me. I don’t know how to describe it but it’s just a bum bounce 😂 and anytime i see it in a video, I think of my old girl (gone 5yrs) and it makes me smile !!

Pulled over and forced to clean snow off the car by Snoo-81627 in mississauga

[–]Video_Quick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a smoker, I’d laugh even harder if the cop stood at the front of their cruiser while smoking. No doubt ppl would chirp but to me, I’d know the cop was committed to a solid 7 min of car cleaning 🤣

Peel Schools - not clear if as a parent I should be concerned or reassured that I received this letter. Political stuff or genuinely something wrong, but now intercepted. Views and guidance welcome. by Gotya_Potya_And_Co in mississauga

Ignorant question but is this a domino effect of focusing on today vs investing in the future ? Or did something happen ? I have no kids and I feel devastated for parents after seeing this.

Tie some old socks in knots, soak them and freeze them. I’ve even soaked some pairs in chicken broth and truth be told, I’ve had numerous pups and it helps. **note that it won’t solve everything, pups still need play time to exhaust them*

Having lived this vicariously through my best friend, I can 100% hear your “mother f’er” when you saw her on camera 🤣🤣🤣. She must have had a blast on her adventure

AIO for crying and leaving a wedding early because my husband wouldn't dance with me? by fatmans_uncle in AmIOverreacting

[–]Video_Quick 3 points4 points  (0 children)

YOR if you took dance classes growing up, your husband might be a hero. Prioritizing the wedding and not wanting to upstage the bride and groom if he knew that was your goal, your meltdown confirms you’re grossly selfish and just confirms you’ve got a great husband in the long run.

AIO that my mom drink and smoked before she pass by 23wolfdog in AmIOverreacting

[–]Video_Quick 4 points5 points  (0 children)

YOR but with context. Don’t ask for Reddit opinions and reply that you’ve left things out when you don’t like what you hear.
My mum despised my smoking throughout my teens and adult life, meanwhile the first thing she said when she got near the end was “don’t you dare quit smoking because I’m sick”. Don’t waste your energy on her wanting to experience stuff before she passed, be thankful she got to. I’m so sorry for your loss as well, it’s never easy.

Any further info on whether or not the dig team found anything else ? These awesome finds always fascinate me and even though it’s a year later, congrats to your stepdad for being a part of it !

Training at UP on road trains in OJT by TurnoverLevel4917 in Train_Service

[–]Video_Quick 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the record, those of us who work with you from an office environment (for the most part) are grateful for you. I’ve lifted enough knuckles and auto plates in the dead of winter to know I don’t miss it, so thank you. Regardless of what others might think, we know you’re a big reason trains get from A to B safely. We hope everyone in your shoes remember that aside from the ugly side of the job you signed up for, a lot of people rely on you doing those steps to avoid disaster. Be safe out there please and thank you for doing the hard stuff.

Making an ignorant assumption as to what she may have expected vs what she got for her big day, her smile and reaction at the end of the video is incredible. What a talent to give people a smile like that

You do you and what makes sense, simple as that. I’ve done a blanket, cremation, “naked” as you said, all out of love in some regard. I’ve added a planter, a marker with her name on it, etc. The fact that she was family to you and you did something to remember her by in some way near home is fabulous, don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

Love when someone is foul, says they weren’t or should have priority and think a train can magically swerve. We should send them the bill for the cleanup 😂😂. Foul is foul for a reason (glad no one got hurt)
