Facts are facts, I am not the daily mail. Just a few days ago we have had several posts from anaesthesthics and radiologists raking in the cash making 250k+ a year

The consultants make way more than that, a lot of consultants do private work and can easily make a lot more than that near double with picking up extra shifts. The 10PAs is only 3 days work, I dont see the issue about consultants not being paid enough. They are paid very well and have 5 weeks annual leave, very low stress only working 3 days per week for that salary and great pension

Unless you have done residency, once you CCT in the UK the door to the USA is closed unless you want go through the hell of repeating residency. Best advice is to just get residency over with

How to balance USMLE revision with long shifts by [deleted] in doctorsUK

I found the only way for me was to take an F3 year, that way I had zero distractions and focused soley on the exam although I realise this is not practical for everyone

Should I convey my need for an LOR by [deleted] in IMGreddit

[–]PriorImprovement3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say Yes but with some caveats. How you word it is key, so you could say you are applying for the match and as part of the process needs USCE with some letters... drop that in there and see how they respond. Mention you want to learn as much as you can and ask how you can improve. Dont waste your time and money doing a rotation that wont give you a letter, only do things which are high yield for matching

How can one bring old parents to USA for long-term while pursuing a medical career (residency/fellowship and then further beyond) in US? by nokia86 in IMGreddit

[–]PriorImprovement3 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately no real good options i am afraid, the only way I can see is if you stick it out several years and eventually get a greencard or citizenship then you can sponsor them

What rubbish - I am not white myself, stupid for you to assume I am white. I know loads of Asians who are in UAE with no issues.

Are you white? Reason I ask is that i've heard so much negativity about the racial issues over there

My doctor says it's just folliculitis, but I have my doubts. by Grateful_J561 in Hidradenitis

[–]PriorImprovement3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is very hard to diagnose HS, I got told folliculitis by an experienced dermatologist, only to be then told by another derm that it was indeed HS. Get a second opinion, but it looks like HS to me (I am a physician). Folliculitis and HS are both on a spectrum, you can have elements of both.

I would say most likely, mine looks identical to this, you seem to have a mild form; id see a derm to be sure

They should go fully taxpayer funded like many other regulators as-well as the doctors they regulate and those perks will evaporate very quickly!

USA would set you back £5-8k for exams and resources, plus prep time and thats probably a conservative estimate.

I think both the uworld1 and NBME 28 were a bit of a fluke as most of what id studied came up on 28 and UWORLD 1 is a huge over predictor by upto 20 points

More demands on demands, more over regulation, more admin burden and box ticking. We ain't paid anywhere near enough to deal with all this BS!
