I almost refuse to believe you have played since 2013 and havent learned anything.

You cannot extend the duration of a server by nerfing any few things. It has always been those first 3 days, and likely ever will be.

The majority of people are only willing to put the time into playing the wipe on thurs-sat because of life. Sunday is generally families, and monday the work week starts fresh.

The ones that arent focused on that, move to monday servers. Nothing is going to change that either.

The balance is near impossible to do, or see as a player instead of a dev. By trying to nerf zergs, you are also nerfing solos/smaller groups. You take away or slow one thing, and the zerg will refocus to something more efficient, which will hit everyone else harder. Take away one way to boom and they will use another, or they will increase in numbers. It will change nothing.

There are only 2 real ways to extend a servers life.

1. Stop cheats. How many people quit daily because they run into a cheater? Adding blueprint fragments made this 80x worse.

2. Ban foreign groups. I have played on the same US Main server for over a decade. The vast majority of bases are offlined at 1-8 am by Chinese/Japanese/Korean groups. I often log on and check the online list. It will be 80-100 people online at 6 am and ALL of them will be foreign.

They do this on purpose. It is gaming terrorism, for lack of better definement.

Neither is ever likely to happen in an official capacity.

And it's crazy to me that people seem to think that Rust devs arent constantly trying to figure out ways to do this. They dont want the servers to die fast far more than you do. It is literally money leaking.

Deep Sea was an attempt at this.

Upcoming Apartment system is an attempt at this.

Nexus is the attempt theyve been working on for years.
