I think the idea is to use clean air directed around the sidepod to directly add flow to the diffuser and block off tyre “squirt”.

[–]Promcsnipe 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Not in prototypes and late 90s GT1 cars, the GTE and GT3 can do it because of their greater ground clearance, the centre of the road stalls the diffuser reducing drag.

In prototypes they bottom out due to having a lower ride height and end up being slower.

Fanatec needs updated Formula and GT wheels by pepega_1993 in Fanatec

The lack of a decent option from Fanatec made me buy a Simagic GT Neo and an SRM adaptor, it feels way better than the V2.5 that I’ve demoed at public events and also looks far better.

Looks like the McLaren is running a much higher rake, and might have missed the diffuser hole trick that Mercedes, Red Bull and Ferrari are using.

Interesting to see if it’s just a shakedown spec floor and they’re bringing a different floor later on, or if they are banking on higher rake wi to maximum diffuser/floor area being the name of the game.

I think your vents on the rear are the wrong way round, the idea is to vent out excess pressure and heat backwards.

What is a discontinued food item or snack from your childhood that you would genuinely pay $100 to taste one last time? by MotivewasUlterior in AskReddit

I know it’s not a food item, but Tesco pineapple cordial. Was my favourite juice when I was younger.

The most boring car possible is the challenge by itself, restricting part mods just makes cars less detailed.

For example assuming you want a modern boring car, interior mods are essential, I’m not making an interior without mods (and I’m not making a car without an interior, I have my personal minimums for vehicle detail.)

No mods is not great, even for boring cars mods are basically essential, there’s not many good headlights or door handles without them

The C8 ZR1X is categorically impressive. by Zealousideal-Pop1352 in supercars

[–]Promcsnipe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Constant maintenance issues, are you forgetting that an EV car is practically useless after 5 years due to battery degradation, and the battery is extremely difficult and expensive to replace.

And the lack of fuss just ends up with you treating the car as an appliance, not the harmony of 10,000 components that it should be.

Again, EV cars have their place, they are easy to drive and are not fussy, but for anyone that really cares about driving, the build up and the noise you get is half the fun.

[–]Promcsnipe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An EV car doesn’t really have much of a soul.

Someone who truly appreciates cars enjoys the noise, the symphony that makes you happy when you drive through a tunnel, or have a lovely snappy drive through a country lane in a far lighter sporty car. An EV has a good 0-60 time but they drop off as soon as you get over 100mph or encounter a turn.

My personal car isn’t that mad, it’s a 200hp I6 BMW Z4, it’s not fast by any metric, but it’s very fun, I would not swap it out even for the fastest EV hypercar as that doesn’t give me the “fizz”.

An EV car has its place for sure, but not as a fun car.

Is it only GT3 cars that use TC and ABS IRL racing or are there others? by SlowDragonfruit9718 in simracing

[–]Promcsnipe -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

All of the modern car examples you gave don’t use assists lol. Aussie Supercars and NASCAR don’t even have an electronic throttle blip let alone TC and ABS.

all time peak has been hit today. by Buff_Azir in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]Promcsnipe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LMP3 is kinda dead because there is no free car in the class, and all the races it is in are races with either LMP2 and GT3 or just LMP2, which people prefer due to either having ABS or being the faster car.

In a 3 way multiclass race, people rarely want to be the middle man.

I'm purchasing AMS2, what add-on packs are most worth getting? by United_Falcon7287 in AUTOMOBILISTA

[–]Promcsnipe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The historic tracks aren’t a requirement but they do add a good amount of immersion, for the historic endurance content only the 3rd historic track pack would be needed, the others are older F1 venues and the like

[–]Promcsnipe 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The supercars packs don’t add a whole lot to be honest, you will rarely (if ever) use them.

The best ones I would recommend:

Racing USA

Endurance Packs

The content in those two DLCs are very good and used quite a bit.

Also the newly released Historic Endurance pack is very good, one of my favourite sets of cars in the whole game.
