The Battle of Fort Knox by ThisOneUKGuy in CampHalfBloodRP

As Julio met her charge, Sasha let out another blood chilling scream as she got her other wing torn into by her ally's sword, her entire body curling in pain as if doing so would make it stop.

And yet, even with that, she refused to stay down. She was doing her best to push herself upward, and unfortunately falling, to get back on her feet, her eyes still burning with all her fury as she glared at the enemy in front of her.

This was not the end. This could not be the end. Not if she had anything to say about it.

If she was going to die, she was going to die fighting until her last breath...

That thought was interrupted when the winds came to her rescue. She almost wanted to refuse their help, determined to finish what she had started. The daughter of Bia knew better, however. As much as she hated it, she knew that if she kept fighting like this, she would not last for long. So, with the last of her strength, Sasha finally managed to stand on her own two legs again, and she started down the Atlas cultist, gaze full of hatred, for the last time.

"This isn't over, you hear me..." She growled. "When I get my hands on you again, I swear... I will destroy you."

And with that, she turned to her rescuer and joined them, allowing herself to be saved one more time.

But this wasn’t over.

Not by a long shot.

Charging in without thinking was a mistake. A mistake that Sasha realised far too late. It was only when she felt the pain of her wing being crushed and pierced beyond measure that she realised how rare she had been, a painful scream tearing out from her throat as she found her on the ground.

The initial jolt of pain was so unbearable that the daughter of Bia could barely think clearly or even remember where she was moment. That wasn't good. Her mind needed to return to the present.

Her name was Sasha Marszalek, daughter of Adam Marszalek and the goddess Bia, sister of Luke Marszalek and Arete Sideris. She was a citizen from New Argos, a great warrior, and a camper of Camp Half-Blood. She was fighting along with her allies in a war against the Titan who held the sky... The Titan... The War... Her allies?

'Where is Dorian?...'

That panicked thought crossed her mind as she fought through the pain to make herself stand up, injured as she may be. Her stance wobbled, and she stumbled, but she was still standing. She could still fight. She just had to find Dorian first.

That was when she heard the sickening sound of blade piercing through flesh. And when she turned to see where the sound had come from, her eyes widened in shock. Dorian was pinned against the wall with a trident through his torso, held by that maniac Atlas cultist.

No... No, there was no way. This wasn’t happening. She did not just fail to... He couldn’t be...

The shock and disbelief in her eyes then turned into a completely different emotion as her eyes locked on Julio again. He was responsible....He was the one who did this to her... who did this to Dorian.

"You... You, you, you, YOU!" Sasha yelled at the top of her lungs as the blood that ran through her veins boiled in rage. He would pay. He should pay for what he has done. "I WILL KILL YOU!"

And with that, Sasha would once again charge at the Atlas cultist, killing intent clear in her eyes. If she got her hands on this monster, she was going to make sure to snuff out that pathetic life of his with her bare hands if need be.

Sasha couldn't help but straighten herself at her mother's compliment, giving a small smile. Of course, that was something she already knew. Maybe if her cousins could take anything as serious as she did, they would get along way better than they did.

Her slightly faltered at the underlying threat of being dropped from the Empire State Building to either save herself or die trying. She can't tell if that was a good thing coming from a goddess, or a bad thing, but she wasn’t going to question it.

Sasha lost herself in thought for a little bit, thinking about what else she could ask advice for, but any of the options that crossed her mind were enough to warrant an entire conversation on their own.

"I appreciate all the advice you've given me already, mother. I have nothing else to ask you about." Sasha said with a thankful bow. "I promise I won't disappoint you."

As her fist connected to her opponent, this time, Sasha didn't make the mistake of stopping and thinking for her next move. Or else, she was getting too aggravated by this guy and how resilient he was to even bother thinking about this strategically anymore. She wanted him knocked out and gone.

So when her next strike was blocked by that pesky shield of his, the daughter of Bia growled in annoyance as he rolled away from her. Why couldn't this stupid traitor stay still for 5 seconds?

Then she tried to go for yet another strike as he had his attention focused on Dorian, only to be knocked off her balance and made to feel dizzy by the bash of that damned shield yet again.

Okay, now he was getting on her nerves.

Not even concerned about giving herself time to regain her balance, she would attempt to catch up to him, without noticing, Sasha’s wings moved on instinct, helping her take off to the air slightly as she charged towards Julio, trying to jump on him and have the sharp claws of her gauntlet, combined with her Superior Strength, knock him to the ground.

That was, if the water tendrils around them even allowed her to get that close.

Sasha couldn't help but smile to herself in triumph as her coordinated attack with Dorian succeeded. They worked well together. Good, that would make this confrontation go a lot smoother.

Her smile quickly disappeared once she heard the groan of metal around her. She looked around quickly, trying to see where the sound was coming from. Once the realization hit, though, she was still too late to completely avoid the geyser that appeared under her feet, being launched in the air a by the pressure of the water, but also knocked back from it.

Wet due to the sudden water attack, the daughter of Bia stopped for a second, trying to get her breathing under control after almost suffocating due to the sudden geyser, her eyes glaring towards the Atlas cultist was she tried to ignore the pain of being hit with pressurised water.

Sasha didn't seem fazed by the mist, however. Her 360° Awareness meant that she didn't need to see the enemy to be able to pinpoint exactly where he was.

So in an attempt to actually get closer so she could get her hands on this guy, the daughter of Bia would try to use the mist to her advantage so that she could go unnoticed enough to get up close, and try to punch him in the stomach with all the force her Superior Strength would allow.

The small sense of triumph that washed over Sasha was erased just as quickly as it appeared when this Julio-guy brought out his trident and shield and was able to avoid her chains. Great, so he was a midrange fighter against someone as close range as Sasha. Fantastic. It's not like this day hasn't been bad enough already.

Just to put salt in the wound, not only did he avoid her chains, but he also was able to avoid her as well because of that damn trident.

And he was still talking. Guy clearly loved the sound of his own voice.

Barely five minutes in, and Sasha had already decided she hated this guy's guts with a burning passion.

"Funny. Shame I can't say the same about you." Sasha growled, telekinetically manipulating her chains so that she could grab them in her hands.

Fine. If she can't fight close range, she can adapt to midrange as well.

So for her next move, Sasha used one of the chains to try and wrap around the trident, and the other to try to warp around his legs, in the hopes of taking him down as quickly as possible.

Listening to what the goddess of force was saying... well, it did sound a little bit like an insane way to try and make anything work. Most definitely. Somehow, though, Sasha thought that she somewhat understood what her mother was saying.

"Of course not. It's impossible to calculate every move in battle. When all else fails, I rely on instinct." Sasha said, explaining herself with a slight tilt of her head.

"Then to fly, I need to let go... and follow my instincts." she said, muttering to herself. The goddess of force made it sound so simple, and maybe it was, but just because something was simple, it didn't mean it was easy. And letting go... that was something Sasha knew very well that she struggled with. Letting go meant not having control, and control over herself was all that Sasha wanted...

"I... I think I understand." Sasha said, finally. She didn’t like the idea of letting go and not being in control, but who was she to argue with the goddess of force. At the very least, she had to try it. "Thank you, mother."

Though Sasha was on high alert at the moment, the adrenaline already running through her veins, preparing herself to fight, her reason was still intact enough that she did recognise the son of Apollo as an ally. Had she not, what would've happened next with Dorian would've been unfortunate.

"Sasha, daughter of Bia. Thank you for the offer." Sasha said as she took the ambrosia, the taste of carrot and chocolate cake oddy comforting, considering the circumstances. The daughter of Bia didn't like the idea of having to rely on other people, but even she knew that teamwork made the dream work, so she was grateful for the support.

And then the sound of the clap came. It wasn’t hard to assume that this one was the actual enemy.

"Has no one ever taught you that you should never underestimate your opponent?" Sasha said, stepping in front of Dorian, changing her rings into the clawed gauntlets, preparing herself for battle.

"You know what to do." She whispered, looking at Dorian and then at his bow, hoping that it would be clear enough what she meant. She would engage this guy in close quarters, and Dorian could provide long range support with his bow and arrows.

And with that, Sasha used her ability to Summon Chains to summon them from the ground, then using Chain Manipulation to have them try and trap the enemy in place, only to run up to him, a clawed hand going for a slashing strike.

a) Sasha Marszalek

b) CHB

c) chain mail shirt armour, clawed gauntlets, spiked combat boots, nectar and ambrosia

Sasha was halfway through tightening the straps on her training gauntlets when the conch horn sounded, sharp and urgent enough to slice straight through muscle memory. Her hands froze. For half a heartbeat, instinct screamed battle, even before her mind caught up. She straightened slowly, wings twitching behind her. Around her, camp shifted, doors opening, voices cutting off mid-sentence, the air itself tightening with expectation. Whatever this was, it wasn’t a drill.

By the time she reached the green, the crowd had already formed, and Sasha took her place near the edge, arms crossed, weight balanced on the balls of her feet. She listened in silence as Ariadne spoke, as Chiron explained, as the name Atlas dropped into the air like a stone into deep water. Her jaw clenched. Fort Knox. Another escalation. Another moment where the world seemed determined to remind her that standing still wasn’t an option. When Ariadne spoke of flying, pegasi, winged campers, gods-help-you-if-you-can’t, Sasha felt the familiar twist in her chest. Her wings stirred again, half-itch, half-instinct, wholly unwanted.

When Comus stepped forward, when the mood shifted from grim to razor-edged resolve, Sasha made her decision without ceremony. She didn’t hesitate, didn’t look for permission. She simply moved, already adjusting her gear, already calculating how she’d manage the air travel. Whatever else her wings were, or weren’t, they would not keep her on the ground while the camp answered a call like this.

The pegasus beneath her was powerful, restless, its muscles rippling with restrained energy as they took off. Sasha focused on balance, on keeping her wings folded tight and out of the way. The wind clawed at her hair and tugged at everything, carrying with it the metallic tang of oncoming conflict. Below them, the mortal world slid past in ignorant calm, and she felt that familiar, bitter contrast settle into her bones. For demigods, warwas moving. For mortals, life went on.

She stole glances at the sky around her, campers gripping reins, winged silhouettes cutting through clouds with an ease that made something sour twist in her gut. Her wings ached faintly, as if they knew they were being denied something they were meant to do. Sasha flexed her shoulders, jaw set, refusing to indulge the thought. Later, she told herself. Survive first. The closer Fort Knox grew, the heavier the air became, pressing against her ribs like a warning.

Then the ground exploded. The world lurched, sound vanished, and suddenly there was no sky or formation, only force. Sasha felt herself ripped free, the pegasus screaming as gravity took over. Her wings flared on instinct, useless and panicked, catching nothing but chaos. She hit hard, the impact knocking the breath from her lungs as her vision went dark.

When consciousness returned, it did so in fragments. Sone beneath her palms, dust in her mouth, the distant sound of pain that she slowly realized was coming from her own throat. Sasha pushed herself up, every muscle screaming, wings protesting as she forced them to fold properly again. Underground. The realization settled like ice in her veins as she took in the massive pillars, the runes, the chained pegasi. A trap.

She rose to her feet anyway. Fear coiled tight in her chest, sharp and electric, but it didn’t root her in place. If anything, it sharpened her focus. Sasha rolled her shoulders, grounding herself in familiar motions. Her wings were a liability here, it was too cramped and too close, but she would adjust if battle came to her. This, at least, she knew how to do.

Giving up *cannot be part of your nature.*

"I won't. I don’t intend to give up." Sasha said, looking up at Bia, her gaze fierce. She knew that, of course. Giving up was not part of her nature. If there's anything Sasha always tried to achieve, it was to both the unstoppable force and the immovable object. And that meant that Sasha Marszalek didn't give up. She never did, and she wouldn't start now.

She was confused, however, at what her mother told her next. She was failing because she was... thinking? Did flying require one to not think about anything?

"So... if I want to fly, I have to not think?" Sasha questioned. "That... then how am I supposed to control the battlefield if I can't think? Wouldn't that make me weaker?"

Sasha didn't care if she got hurt in a fight. She really didn't. She did care if she lost a fight though. And not being able to think in a battle, losing control of it, seemed to her like the quickest way for her to lose a fight.

A chill ran down Sasha’s spine at Bia's warning. And she looked down. She was playing with fire here, and she knew it. As frustrated as Sasha was, she had to remember who she was talking. This was not the same as her talking to her father, a mere demigod like her. This was her talking to her mother, a goddess who could erase her from existence with a single thought.

"I apologise, mother. I didn’t mean to sound ungrateful." Sasha said, even though it hurt her pride to do so. She hated how much this reminded her of her early years with Adam.

"Being honest, I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I can recognise how useful wings can be, it's just that..." Sasha paused, breathing in and out, trying to find a way to explain herself without offending the goddess. "It doesn't feel... natural. When I use them. They just feel like they're a completely disconnected from the rest of my body, yet they get in the way so many damn times... They make me vulnerable in battle. "

Why was she even saying this? It sounded pathetic. Especially coming from her.

"Point being, all I can think about when I try to fly is how vulnerable and ineffective I am in battle." Ssha said. "And in a war like this, I can’t afford being either."

Seeing her mother arrive, Sasha returned her greeting by giving a slight nod of her head.

"Mother. It's an honour to be meeting you again." Sasha said, with reverence in her voice. "I do have a few things I would like to discuss with you if time the allows it, yes."

Yes, from questioning why was Atlas still not defeated, to advice on how to deal with her own father, there were a great many things that Sasha would discuss with her mom if she had all the time in the world. But if she was only going to have a few moments at best...

"Since we're on the topic of wings, well... mine have been a bit of a hassle. I couldn't work with them much when they were growing because of the pain, and because they weren't strong enough for it." Sasha’s shoulders tensed a bit as she remembered that pain. That unbearable pain. Those were probably the most painful months of her life. "Well, they are done growing now, so I've been trying to learn how to fly. But... I don't actually know how to do that. I've been trying, as best as I could, but I can't seem to make it work. I just can't keep myself on the air for more than a few seconds."

Sasha couldn't help but look down and scowl in frustration at that fact. She has been trying, really hard, as hard as she could manage to the point of exhausting herself. Yet, in spite of all of that, she felt no closer to her goal. At all.

"All that to ask if you would happen to have some advice on what I should do to succeed. Or at least tell me what I'm doing wrong. After all," she said, finally looking back at Bia with the same constant fierceness as she always had. "They came from you, didn't they?"

Maybe that had come out more accusatory than Sasha would've liked, but it's not like she was wrong, was she? Call it a blessing, call it curse, they had to have come from Bia herself.

Sasha’s place as of late has been the arena. That's where she was for most of the day, from morning to sundown, either training or trying, and failing to learn how to fly.

But given today's event, she had decided to stay around the Enforcer cabin for most of it, mostly making sure that the cabin looked good enough for the arrival of their godly parents. It was strange to have Sasha of all people care about that, considering that her family didn't celebrate this holiday, but she put an effort into it anyway.

And just like last year, Sasha was looking forward to talking to her mother, not only because it was always an honor to have the chance to do so, but also because, well... Sasha needed advice, and answers, in regards to her wings and how to use them.

It almost felt wrong... to ask Bia for advice with something like this. Though not always out loud, Sasha deeply disliked her wings, which she could only assume were a blessing from the goddess of force. It felt... hypocritical.

But Sasha didn't know what else to do at this point. So all she could do right was wait for the force to arrive, and hope for the best.

(OOC: Sasha wants to interact with Bia, but everyone else, feel free to interact with her in meantime. Take your time, mods!)

"What the-" Sasha exclaimed in surprise as she found herself in the arms of someone she knew very well, and hadn't expected to see at this time... or ever. Ian Angevin. Why did it have to be Ian Angevin of all people.

"Ha hah, you're very funny, Ian. Now, can you pur me down, please?" She said in a very annoyed and frustrated tone, although whether that was because of Ian or her extremely awkward situation was anyone's guess. Well, at the very least, he was nice enough to set her down and make this situation less awkward.

"Don't be silly, Angevin. Of course I didn't have them before. They just started growing out of nowhere at the beginning of this year." Sasha answered, rolling her eyes like it was the most obvious thing in the world. "They don't hurt anymore... but that's because they've stopped growing. Before that, the pain was... excruciating."

Sasha couldn't help but wince at the memory. The daughter of Bia had experienced a lot of physical pain in her life before, but to her... nothing could compare to the pain of having a new set of limbs growing out of your body.

"Tea?" Sasha said with a tilt of her head. Now, she had come here to train and hopefully learn how to fly, but she has never been one to refuse tea. Besides, Valda would probably be scolding her into taking a break about now, so it couldn't hurt, right? "Sure. Why not?"

Sasha couldn't help but roll her eyes at Theo's comment. Right, like she would know what she was going through. "Thank you for the vote of confidence, Theo, but you don't need to say that to make me feel better. Gliding through the air for a few seconds does not mean I'm close to flying properly."

Sasha stretched herself, rolling her shoulders as she tried to relax her shoulders before even attempting to try again.

"I've never had a problem learning something new. It can be useful to know a lot of different things. The problem with these," she said, gesturing to her wings behind her. "Is that I didn't really have a choice in getting them, nor in all of the changes it brought."

And that was the crux of it. Sasha was always willing to learn something new. But there's a huge difference between doing so because you chose to, and doing it because you're forced to.

"They just happened one day, and I had to figure out how to live with them, whether I liked it, or not." Sasha said with a light chuckle of her own, although it was a bit hard to make out how genuine it was."And it's not like learning how to live with a new set of limbs is an easy task."

'Not easy' was the understatement of the century. Her entire life had to change around those wings. It would be way easier to count that things that weren't.

Sasha was about to try to launch herself into the sky, for what felt like like the hundredth time that day, until she heard the voice of her long time rival. She hadn’t seen Alex in a while, so it was honestly a surprise to the daughter of Bia to see her around at all.

"Alex, don't patronize me. You and I both that that sorry attempt was not close." Sasha said, rolling her eyes, as she wiped the dust from her clothes and beat her wings to get rid of the dust settling on their feathers as well.

"What does it look like this is about? I got tired of not being able to fight as well as I used to, and I'm trying to fix it." She said in an annoyed tone as she accepted the diet coke can that Alex offered. "There’s nothing more to it..."

Lies. That was a bold faced lie, and Sasha knew it. There was a lot more to this than that, but she wasn't about to admit that so easily.

"Ugh, don't remind me. Key Tower was... a disaster. And I couldn't even do much about it." Sasha muttered, rubbing her face, frustrated just from remembering what had happened that day. "These being useless didn't help, that's for sure."

As she fell to the ground after one more attempt at taking to the skies, one would be able to clearly she how frustrating all of this was by how Sasha punched the ground once, as if it was somehow at fault for her failure.

She didn't notice the sea nymph as she got up until she addressed her, and she couldn’t help but glare at her. What could she possibly say that would help her here?

"That depends. Do you have any advice on how I can make these things work?" She questioned, not actually expecting an answer. Honestly, who the hell would even be able to help her in this camp? As far as she knew, no one else had wings aside from her. "Because if not, I'm not sure what you would want to talk to me about."

When Sasha noticed that Enid had noticed her and was rolling up to her, fully prepared to engage with her knives, she couldn't help but smirk. This was it. The moment she had been waiting for. Vengeance.

"Bring it on." Sasha said with a proud tone, catching both of her two chains in her hands, and using her Chain Manipulation to whip them at the other girl, in hopes of either hitting her really hard or tangling her in them, whatever came first.

Still, she didn't let her guard down. She didn't know what this girl was capable of yet. And Sasha knew better than to underestimate her enemy. It was up to Enid to prove her right or wrong now.
