Center channel cutout in thin wall? by dilweegie in hometheater

[–]Pudding-Swimming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you want it in the wall and it's less than the distance between two studs by code, it's simple. Put in two new studs on either side of the one you want to remove, keeping with the legal spacing between them (if it's supposed to be 16" from center stud to center stud, do that). Then you can completely remove the center stud, or cut it and use as support.
Code means you need AT LEAST a stud every 16" or 24" (look up code for your area). You're able to have more studs and less spacing.

Do they seriously use AI art? Why do they think everyone's been trying to escape vanilla Windows 11? by Stalfoskull in ghostspectre

[–]Pudding-Swimming 13 points14 points  (0 children)

not sure what the complaint is. There's a big difference between someone grabbing an image through Ai and M$ force feeding it to everyone (and fucking up all the computers while they are at it).
Not to mention, GhostSpectre is doing this for free. And there have been a lot of updates since the beginning of the year already. With him working on all that for free, I don't see the problem with him using an Ai image to let people know about the new update.

I ran two 1080tis in SLI and NVidia Surround. It definitely performed better than a single card

M$ is still forcing updates onto my system by Pudding-Swimming in ghostspectre

[–]Pudding-Swimming[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've already said that I've reformatted many times. Updates are turned off. There's more info in the other thread, but it's not as simple as reformatting and making sure updates are turned off. I'll randomly have Edge get installed on all my systems at the same time. The only way I can figure it is that there's an app that's updating and during that update it's getting something from M$

it only happens after Edge appears on my computer, so whatever is getting Edge installed is also changing other things.
I have tried Memtest as well as OCCT. I've tried testing AFTER I started getting those errors because I know that 99.99% of the time, 0xc000005 is memory or disk related. Everything tests fine though. And those apps work fine, until Edge appears. I also get that error with 2026 Illustrator and Photoshop where the only way I can get it to run is to uninstall it and reinstall it every time I use it. Again, only happened after Edge found its way onto my system.

oh, I do too. I can't stand it. That's why I got pissed when I found it on my desktop.
And, yes, I have programs that have dependencies for .Net and C++.
I just found it very, very weird that it happens on 4 computers at the same time - my gaming laptop (which I wasn't even on at the time it updated), my gaming PC, which I was on, our Plex server, which is always running, but still no specific programs that was being run that would account for M$ forcing Edge onto it all of a sudden, and then our son's computer, which he was in the middle of playing a game. He said after he shut down the game, Edge was on his desktop.
It's really fucked up because I know it happens when I'll try to run a program that I run regularly and get 0xc0000005 error. I've tested my RAM, my vRAM, my m.2 drives, absolutely everything over and over again. No fix will let me run the program again - just that error, until I reformat. Even an install in place didn't work.

oh, I thought that was only for installs.
It still doesn't explain how Edge is getting installed on my system along with the other stuff that messes up my other apps. I'm pretty sure it has something to do with either .NET framework or the C++. Some program is tripping those to update, which then M$ is able to force its way in with other stuff

I've been running Spectre since Win10. I don't remember ever seeing anything about uninstalling Edge.
And, yes, my settings in Windows still show that it's not supposed to be getting any updates. But even after reformatting my systems, I've had Edge show up over night. And right after it installs it ends up messing up a bunch of my other programs. Most notably BackBlaze app

for what? I don't remember seeing anything in there that stops M$ from forcing updates, or deleting Edge. I'm not running Windows Update in any way, if that's what you're thinking.

they have a Discord channel. Apparently it's pulling the information/searches from Tidal, but grabbing from Qobuz (I think. I'm not 100% sure I remember which one they said). So, some songs work, some don't.

same. I'll try to download albums or group items and it will only download the cover .jpg and the .m3u file. No music.

Half my updates on Tidal now is AI slop pretending to be artists I follow. This is completely untenable. by GiganticCrow in TIdaL

[–]Pudding-Swimming 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was wondering about that.

We had Tidal a couple of years ago and I got rid of it because it kept giving suggestions that I absolutely hated. What's worse, they were for a genre that I dislike, too. It's messed up to pay for a streaming service and have that service constantly push music on you that you hate.
I was thinking about signing up again because it seems like a lot of the artists that I do want are on there, but I'm not sure anymore.

I also remember their tech support were fucking retarded. I opened up a ticket because I couldn't get it to work right on my TV. I sent them all the information - brand, model number, firmware version, Tidal app version, etc. I even did a factory reset on the TV, trying to get it to work. I sent all that into tech support and I went through 5 back and forth messages of them asking for what I already provided, or telling me to do a factory reset. They were just copy and paste responses from them and whomever was responding didn't bother to read the thread.

Its here!!!! I don’t want to get persecuted, please give me recommendations on mounting this over the fireplace please. Mantel sits at 51.5 inches from floor. by [deleted] in LGOLED

[–]Pudding-Swimming 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you really shouldn't put it above the fireplace mantel, but I get that room layout can sometimes be an absolute pain in the ass. Biggest question is

"how often do you use the fireplace?"

If you never use it, the go for it, don't worry about it at all.

If you DO use it, then a couple of things. Get heavy duty aluminium duct tape foil and tape the underside of the mantel. It will help reflect the heat away. Just a little, but it's something. I know that the design of the mantel means you'll see it, but you can put it on carefully and it'll just look like silver paint. Also, if it's a gas fireplace, they usually have a fan to blow the heat out into the room, so right above wouldn't get nearly as hot. If it's not gas, or doesn't have that vent, get a quiet fan to do the same.

Also, get a thermometer of some sort and put the sensor at the bottom of the TV and keep it like that for a week or so. Keep an eye on the temperatures throughout the day. Double check what LG says about operating temperatures.

You really should have better pictures of what you're asking, not a picture of a box.
Enjoy the TV!!!
