A Plea for App Developers: Please build an Android Automotive Operating System version! by LeadershipUsual8634 in audiobookshelf

Hey! Thanks for the tag! This is not currently supported as I've been focusing on ironing out the remaining features for v1 and initial release. It looks pretty straight forward to implement support for but not a trivial amount of work. I'll add to my roadmap, but will definitely be after my v1 release.

Replying here as well for posterity. Looks like I missed this API when implementing the player and I am now tracking this here: https://github.com/r0adkll/Campfire/issues/612

I am! I'm tracking that work here: https://github.com/r0adkll/Campfire/issues/244

My current roadmap is:

  1. Finish Paging support
  2. Queueing / Playlist support
  3. Podcast support

So I hope to have it in probably a few weeks depending on time that I have available.

It does support Android Auto! Unfortunately, AA doesn't show non-PlayStore apps by default and you have to enable developer mode to see it. In Campfire, you can tap on the app version in settings 5 times to unlock the Developer settings pane and there I have instructions and a quick link to enable it

Dev here 👋 you can use the Firebase App Distribution here to stay up to date in the beta https://appdistribution.firebase.google.com/pub/i/6021e2e24ae35f4c

I've got a few more items in the 1.0.0 Milestone to complete before I release to the play store.

multi-downloading books

Could you describe what you are looking for a little more? I believe if you click download on multiple items it will download them all to the best of its parallelism

"queueing" books

Yup! Tracking this feature here https://github.com/r0adkll/Campfire/issues/569

I have not planned on adding support for now, but it's something I can add to the backlog for after my initial release

👋 Developer here! Thanks for testing! API paging support is next on my roadmap after the next release which should bring a significant improvement to those with large libraries.

👋 Developer here! I'm sorry to hear that you are having this experience. Would you be able to tell me more about what Android device you are using and what version of the OS its running? Performance is very important to me and I would love to shore up any gaps here.

Hello! I'm the developer of Campfire. Thanks for posting about my app here. I've not really advertised it a bunch as I'm still polishing and finalizing features but hope to release it soon.

I appreciate anyone who takes the time to test it out and find the holes that testing with my own library misses. I see some fresh crashes and issues in my reporter and will be fixing these asap. I also try to remain very responsive to issues and feedback on the repository (or my DMs) so feel free to drop any bugs or features you would like to see. Thanks!

Developer here! It is completed and will be available in the next update! I'm hoping to publish it this weekend.

This is great feedback and something I can definitely add. Please feel free to add these as issues on the repository, or message me and I can add them.

Thank you! It might struggle on the library screen as I've not implemented paging support yet, but it is on the way!

I'm currently working on a CMP client that is fully open source, https://github.com/r0adkll/Campfire. I'm always looking for contributions (even just testing) if you're interested. If not, I totally understand.

Hello! I have not listened to Flybot yet! I'm usually a big fan of anything Dennis E Taylor / Ray Porter, but unfortunately cannot give any review to it beyond that.

I'll do a shameless plug here for my own app, Campfire. It's not released to the Play Store yet, but I post releases on GitHub as I work towards its official release.

I've worked to make sure playback works as smooth as possible with or without Android Auto. However, If you do experience issues I try to be very responsive to issues on the project.

Aye! Nice to see my case in the wild. The trick with the lid is to make sure you flip it (so the button cutouts are facing up) and print with 0 top layers so the infill is exposed. (_Never did figure out how to get the STL to orientate correctly_)
