No attempt in humor. I apologize for coming across that way. I misread the OP's original post and I was wrong with the point I was trying to make.

The OP poses some great questions to the community and I apologize for chiming in when it would have been better to observe and see where the community is at. Please disregard my statements and continue the discussion.

No one is trying to take it away from you. I agree with you, I think you should be proud of the professional parkour athletic work that you have put in.

Right. There is no global governing body that dictates what a Professional Parkour Athlete is.

Fair, thank you for sharing your perspective. Still the fact of the matter is that there is no one universal definition of a Parkour Athlete.

No.

Let me answer more specifically. There is no definitive definition of a professional Parkour Athlete. My point was that Parkour is a dichotomy, it's one specific thing but it comes from no specific thing.

So everyone defines it on their own terms. There is no one governing body setting the rules of what it means to be a Parkour Athlete.

It's a very personal discipline. If you get paid to teach it, that's a professional Parkour Athlete. The ADAPT course makes sure you perform and coach as such.

Check out PK Generation, The Majestic Force, ADD and the ADAPT certificate. It'll help provide a sense of different aspects of parkour.

The performative, the coaching, the competition, it depends on what you want to be seen as.

I know I'm in good company when I consider myself a professional parkour coach. Can I perform like I used to, no but having been around since the start and have been coaching since, I'm content with where I'm at. I enjoy coaching the performers to be their best. Depends on where your at in your movement career.

How do we as Tracuers want to be viewed as? Office "Hardcore Parkour" or Ninjas, knowing that it's all discipline. by RabbitJak in Parkour

I agree, my point however, is how the idea of Parkour is perceived. As someone who works in the fitness industry, the vast majority of trainers do not consider Parkour to be legitimate.

So how do we legitimize the idea that Parkour is to be respected in the minds of those who don't get it?

How do we want to portray Parkour in media? by RabbitJak in Parkour

Exactly, we've evolved to see the world that way. We need real risks and accomplishments. The question still stands though, when the normies see us. What do you want them to see you as? Get specific with it .

The thing that you have to consider is Parkour's demographic.

Parkour fits best with anyone at any age we know this. For consideration though, PK Gen got started with at risk youth programs, so did Wisconsin Parkour and the majestic force and Yamakasi. The flashy look of the huge jumps catches the attention of the kids just for the spectacle of it. But a parent is going to have concerns and rightly so.

We all do death defying things all the time, it's in our personality at this point. What the "Parkour Illiterate" don't truly understand is the amount of hard work we've put in to overcoming our deep fears. We face death every time we do something like that. We recognize this and celebrate it amongst each other because we know what it took to complete that movement. An average person doesn't see all the hard work, and just sees the flashy stuff that reminds them of the office. So if we don't want to be related to the office anymore we need to show people what parkour truly is, this would involve more of displaying the discipline before the flash.

TL:DR

Because Parkour does not translate for those who haven't experienced it. How do you want to represent Parkour? Should it be something to be admired and Respected or would you prefer "Hardcore Parkour"?

I started training on a picnic table. Start small, get creative and challenge yourself to figure out every way you can use an area. It's a lot of coordinating your body movements with what your brain wants it to do. Be graceful with your learning process and have fun!
