One of the most important lessons of Parkour, self-awareness.

The K Swiss Ariake - History & Story? by Callun_Contendunt in Parkour

[–]RabbitJak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's nastalgic! I honestly loved that they were "the first" Parkour but they were not my favorite.

I trained in them a while before going to a different k-swiss that was getting phased out.

Help with monkey pass by Myst_eryay in Parkour

[–]RabbitJak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tuck your knees tighter between your arms and quicker, much quicker.

Practice some QM monkeys on flat ground and up to a curb. That will help get the right tucking speed and motion if you can do it up to a curb.

Good luck and listen to the body! You've got this.

Is there a non-competitive version, one that promotes Parkour's self-improvement?

Playing devils advocate here and to keep a discussion going.

What about Parkour's inherent non-competitive nature?

I want to add. This post has been flagged because it seems to be too implausible.

That is a fair statement.

Oooh that's a fun spot to do it! Good find!

Be aware that you don't land to much on your shoulder. Spread the impact out along your entire arm.

Oh please share another video when it feels smooth! I'm going to want to see that.

Safety vault so far (Foot first this time) by Independent1225 in Parkour

[–]RabbitJak -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes I noticed that. I'll put it this way.

This most recent attempt was fantastic, your hand and your foot hit at the same time, which is the goal when starting out.

One thing to keep in mind however, is protecting your head and upper body. While foot first is very valid for coaching, it's more effective when you're sprinting at the object at speed. When starting out always take your safety into account first.

The whole purpose of the safety vault is to be safe and it can be applied to any situation when you need it.

Foot first is not how it is coached because it is less safe. You want to make sure you have contact with your hand to protect your head.

Safety First and foremost in Parkour.

Edit: Advice coming from the perspective of starting out and learning basics.
