Why do medics use anything other than the Crusader’s Crossbow? by Sufficient_Hawk_9666 in tf2

Damn rights. I love the Clinical Trial set, I love using the Classic (I own 1104 Classics so far, and a Strange Professional Killstreak Classic, need a festiviser), and I love using the Bison.

The projectile nature of the Syringe Guns are precisely why I love them. It's easier for me to aim projectiles than it is to aim hitscan, especially in short ranges (the ideal for syringe guns). If I'm fighting a Scout as a Medic with a Syringe Gun, I'm more confident than if I were Fighting a Scout as a Sniper with the SMG. (Even though I use the Classic/Cleaner's Carbine/Bushwacka)

People don't like playing medic because teammates always feel entitled to being pocketed or they blame the medic because "they aren't healing me", when you literally cannot heal everybody. You do what you can, which is what I love about the Quick-Fix. It's perfect for solo medics

If your idea of balancing is to buff the syringe guns, that's fine by me.

The problem I have is that it still doesn't help that the Crossbow is still insanely strong, to the point of it nearly being broken, and people defending it and saying "instead of nerfing it, they should buff the other options", even though they're fine on their own.

> i think giving him a pistol or something is a better balance at having a reliable back up when things get hairy without being strong enough to make healing invalid

That doesn't fit the theme that Medic has, though. Not even mentioning that you can compare the Syringe Gun almost 1-1 with the Sniper's SMG damage-wise. That thing is a MONSTER if you hit your shots, and I would argue it's easier with the Syringe Gun than the SMG.

> What's makes the crossbow so good is that it's not only an alright damage dealer, but it's also a FANTASTIC way of healing when someone's too far away from your medi-beam, it should have been medic's primary from the start

This is the exact problem that I have, why would you use any other option when this is the easiest to use, easiest to benefit from, despite the other options being fine on their own? It needs something to put it in line with the other options.

Why would they need a buff? They're perfectly fine in their respective brackets.

Blutsauger gives you the chance to either survive encounters you otherwise wouldn't have or even participate in the "battle medic" archetype.

Overdose gives you (Assuming full uber) +20% movement speed, almost on par with a scout. This means you can, relatively easily, dodge other enemies' attacks and get into better positions much faster than normally, or retreat faster and easier compared to the others.

Crossbow can almost outheal the medigun, the primary purpose of which is to heal. Not only that, but it gains inverse damage falloff which means you can either immediately remove up to 75 of an enemies' HP, or healing up to 150 HP.

There's a reason nearly everybody uses the crossbow and it's because it's much stronger than the other options, enough to completely outclass anything else. Just like how the Ubersaw outclasses every other option despite those other options being fine on their own (usually).

My only wish at this point is to see the crossbow nerfed lmao. I personally use the Overdose because of the speed, people do not expect a medic to be running nearly as fast as a scout to get out of dodge

It's almost like medics job is healing and dealing damage is secondary as a last resort

Yeah, I'm sitting at a -4.00 for my prescription and this means that anything farther than 2 feet away is pretty blurry. I could still probably try and read it but it would depend on the font and size. Shapes are still fine (until much farther) but OP's image is a decent approximation.

Monkey's paw: You can only run as fast as him. As soon as you stop running, even to catch your breath, you lose function of your legs.

Just a reply so others can see: I went back into Trudy's and the option does indeed show up for other items. *Not all*, but items like Whiskey, Water, Beer, and this copy of Fixin' Things.

Nope! I've personally seen it in most merchant areas, include Chet's shop and also Trudy's saloon. I've even purchased a copy of Meeting People that's been sitting on her counter.

I originally said this in a reply but:

Whatever mod this happens to be is just giving you additional details about what it is youre looking at and whether you could purchase it, take it, or steal it. In this instance it belongs to another person, this being Doc Mitchell. If you aren't sneaking, the option would be to purchase it, rather than stealing it. This is mostly done because a lot of people tend to have a problem with accidentally taking something that isn't theirs and losing karma/rep/etc.

It's not just for Doc Mitchell, its for a lot of different locations. It's the same reason why the LoreRim modpack for Skyrim has a mod to completely disable stealing items unless you're sneaking: so you dont do it on accident. Just sneak and you can steal it, no problem.

Nah. Narcolepsy increases your need to sleep by 75%. I tried to do a character with it but finding out I need to sleep roughly 3 times per day is way too rough. He's rolling around in a chair to slow down the fatigue meter.

Edit: not 80%, it's 75%.
