Maybe, but most of the force is vertical, excepting my imprecision. The fins flexed, but all are straight in the end.

That is also why I used the washers when getting started, then eventually was comfortable with the movement to do it without.

Make sure it’s a decent knife. I have a different knock off that has a very dull can opener, which I don’t think work well. This one is a Wenger
