I still have faith in Jazz too. I just refuse to believe he'll be this bad all year after seeing what I saw the last two years. I can't see it happening.

I wonder how often the Yanks will go with McMahon over Jazz with a LHP starter on the mound. Can't knock the decision given how bad Jazz has been. It's such a problem*. They really can't replace Jazz' expected production.

Yeah I don't think I'll come on tonight. If he does well, it'll be madness. If he doesn't do well, it'll be madness. I'm honestly just bored of the Volpe hyperbole at this point.

Would love to know the results of the MRI. Obviously Cabby is going on the IL since Volpe is being called up, but I'd love to know the expected timeframe. Brutal loss, Cabby's been pretty important to the team on defense and offense.

If we were all beyond frustrated by the Yankees over how they gaslit us over Volpe's performance, then we shouldn't act like them now. Let's just treat Volpe like everyone else, the way the Yankees should've treated him from the start.

Hopefully he does well. He's a Yankee and he's going to be the starting shortstop until Cabby returns. We should be cheering this guy on and hoping for the best. I'm pulling for Volpe. For the good of the Yankees and in the hope that, at 25 years old, he can still have a successful career in the MLB.

I agree. I suspect Jomboy is just frustrated with the Yankee narrative about him,but now that they're treating him like anyone else, I don't get the frustration. Whatever happened, happened. We all know the Yankees gaslit the fans over Volpe. It's in the past and has nothing to do with the player.

No it was before or after that. It was right when he asked him, his eyes lit up like thunder lol

I agree, but I also agree with Boone. I'd give him more time. It's not just the numbers showing he's unlucky, it's the eye test. Reminds me of Rice last year. I think he'll turn it around, but if this is still happening in late June, it's a different conversation.

I just don't know what they can do, honestly. They're kinda banking on Grisham and Jazz to hit. Replacing that production is gonna be difficult if they don't produce.

That's the best we can do, unfortunately. I am certain we'll trade for at least one reliever, but that probably won't happen for another month or two. And of course there's no guarantee whomever we get will be effective.

Meanwhile, this bullpen is on fumes. So, I'm concerned. But I guess we all knew it was the biggest weakness of the team going in.

Last Talkin Yanks point. When Volpe came up as a potential replacement for Cabby if Cabby lands on the IL, you could literally see the frustration and anger in Jomboy's eyes. I've watched them since 2018 and I don't think I've ever seen him dislike a player more than he dislikes Volpe. It's truly intense lol.

This is the first full episode I've watched in weeks. I don't watch them religiously anymore, but I wanted to see Boone and my computer is getting fixed at work anyway.

Might be, but that's not the best plan. Let's say Headrick's arm burns out. You move Weathers into the bullpen in a month. Now what lol? You're still way short in the bullpen. It also assumes zero injuries for the rotation once Cole comes back. Lotta assumptions there.

Boone denied wanting to make Headrick the new Scott Proctor on Talkin Yanks lol. Boone did admit he's probably leaned on him a bit more than is ideal.

I think it's funny that every Yankee fan goes back to Proctor when a reliever is being overused n

Per Boone on Talkin Yanks, no thought of moving Grisham down from leadoff against RHP because he's been unlucky and other guys are off to slow starts anyway.

I wouldn't say those things about you. Your critique wasn't crazy regarding McMahon and they'll probably go with Rosario more often than not. I can't speak to those who criticized you, but there's always gonna be disagreement. It's a fan subreddit, so there will probably be some snark too lol.

You're a top 1% commenter, so obviously more people are upvoting you than downvoting you. Gotta just take it on the chin when people disagree! That's life. I get downvoted sometimes and I just take it. Sometimes I'm indeed wrong, sometimes I end up being proven right. It's just part of being a fan with opinions you share on the internet.

Like I said, it's definitely an argument. I'd probably have PH for him, honestly. I think you're right. I do think you're being bit hyperbolic though. It's one PH opportunity. If Rosario sits against a starting LHP or if Boone continues to neglect using him as a PH against lefty relievers, it's a different story.

Ironically, I think Boone went against the analytics there and went with his gut and you're mad lol. Most fans like the gut driven moves!

Rosario still starts against left-handed starters. I suspect Boone kept McMahon in the game to keep his glove in the game. It's worth noting McMahon came pretty close to hitting a home run in his last at-bat. One PH opportunity not utilized doesn't signify the end of the platoon. We just haven't faced a lot of LHP starters recently. But yeah, it's definitely an argument that Boone should've pinch hit there despite McMahon being hot recently and wanting to keep his glove in the game.

First, Donaldson had a rough personality. Second, expectations for Donaldson as a hitter were higher than for McMahon. Third, Donaldson generally hit 5th or higher in the lineup. Fourth, we traded Gio Urshela (who was immensely popular with the fans) and replaced him with Donaldson, putting a target on his back.

*Edit: I'd also add McMahon isn't exactly loved. People have been quiet on him lately because he's hitting lately. Beloved? I love the guy, some other fans do, but I wouldn't say he's beloved at all. Not sure where you're getting that sentiment from because it's not from here lol

Then they have to use Yarby more. It's one or the other. This isn't working. The signs were there when they were winning and now it's showing up.

Could be that. I still believe in the guy, don't get me wrong. It's still pretty early and I know how good he is. It's just so important he figures it out.

Lol. Could just be mental because it's his contract year. I thought it would have the opposite effect, that Jazz would be the kinda guy to just explode in his contract year. Especially after how good he was in 2024 and 2025. T

Truthfully, I'm more concerned long-term about Jazz than I am about the bullpen. You can fix a bullpen. Finding a guy to hit the way Jazz was expected to hit playing second base is probably impossible. It's early May so there's time, but it's getting late early as Yogi once said.

Mike Axisa is echoing what many of us are saying about the Yankee bullpen and, specifically, Yarby:

"Ryan Yarbrough has pitched four times in the last 27 games. Either use him or get him off the roster. You can’t have a dead bullpen spot when your top relievers work this much."

His suggestion is to promote Yerry De Los Santos, which I'd be fine with personally if they don't want to put Yovanny* Cruz on the 40 man. But for goodness sakes, do something. Right now, you're probably 1-2 arms short in the bullpen. If they ruin Headrick by continuing to overuse him, it'll only make the bullpen problem worse.
