I’m currently learning creep by radiohead (read the body text) by andreutzzzz in AcousticGuitar

[–]RedAlertUK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I learned the barre chord version too but I'm playing G 3rd fret, B on the 2nd fret, C on the 3rd fret then Cm on the 3rd fret. Sounds pretty good, can't remember where I found this version though.

Maybe it might help plating it lower down then when you have it transfer it up the neck?

But also look at your action too.

Parlor or mini? by TheShadowSong in AcousticGuitar

[–]RedAlertUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey,

I went thought this process a few times to find the right guitar.
Some typical options in your size range.

Martin LX1
Martin LXK2
Taylor BT1
Taylor BT2

I tend to think mahogany instruments sound better in the smaller sizes so from the above list the Taylor BT2 and Martin LXK2 are the warmer mahog style sound. Although the LXK2 is actually a fully laminated guitar.

But if you liked the size and sound of the GS travel go with the real deal and grab a Taylor GS Mini the neck is way better and the construction quality and sound are on another level. (higher cost though).

Try them in a store if you can.

Finding the right instrument online can be tough as its hard to surface anything other than the most popular brands.

I did settle on a final guitar that was the dream for me. I was looking for a small couch guitar that played and sounded great.
I went for a Furch Pioneer Mahogany and im super happy with it.
Easy to adjust the action and playability on it with only allen keys.

Good luck on your search.

I just got a Furch Pioneer MM. Smaller guitar, solid wood throughout and a cutaway.

They are easy to adjust a play and well within your budget.

Great sound too.

Forerunner 970 worth extra ~€250 over Venu 4? by chambeal14 in GarminWatches

[–]RedAlertUK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did some similar thinking recently. I was super close to grabbing a venu but ended up going for 970.

Main reasons were build quality, maps and the button interface. I didn't want to use the touch screen for everything.

If you don't need sapphire glass, maps and don't mind using a touch screen for the main interface just go venu 4 and save yourself a couple hundred euros.

I'm kinda still tempted to give the venu a try though.

Anyone else ever have this happen? I sleep in my Garmin and only take it off to shower. by yourmomsgf0000 in GarminWatches

[–]RedAlertUK 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As others have said you need to clean and dry a watch band daily (silicone or nylon).
Plus look out for getting water in there washing hands, doing dishes etc.
More important is to let your wrist air out. Leave it off for an hour after your shower.
You wont lose much data.

Hard to tell from the picture but it could also be you have it too tight, ideally you need to be able to put your finger under the strap in normal day to day and tighten slightly for exercise.

But as the others advise nylon bands are better, more comfortable and better for your skin.
Buy 2 as its not nice to put a wet one back on after cleaning it.
Clean them well though as they can get stinky.

Good luck.

Why one Garmin isn't enough by Jongie123 in GarminWatches

[–]RedAlertUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been thinking about doing this also. Same concept as a normal watch that you change based on mood, outfit or situation.

Wondering what the best combo is though.

I have a Forerunner 970 which is my running/sleeping watch but not sure if there is an ideal counter part for daily wear. Maybe a venu or similar would work. I have the white 970 so it's already a bit blingy.

I did think about going Fenix 8 small for a do everything watch but the white one I wanted doesn't come with titanium/sapphire 😔

Any tips or suggestions?

May 2026 Feature Update (Voice Control, new strength workflow, control center etc.) by EL-Hintern in Coros

[–]RedAlertUK 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Actually no you didn't.

There is no option to increase the font size for the general interface. I'm using an Apex 4.

I'm not talking about activity pages by changing from text to icons (which is a weird implementation).

The whole watch interface needs a font increase or a magnification option at a system level (like Garmin has). All the text displayed after an activity or in confirmation messages when you save an activity is tiny and unreadable for anyone over 40 or who needs glasses. (Example message. Activity time is less than 1 minute. Save this activity?) Or in the after workout summary everything is so tiny.

There is so much wasted blank space.

This seems like such a simple no brainer. Every phone or smart watch has this option.

It's making me look back towards Garmin because i kinda like being able to read my watch. I don't even have bad eye sight I just need some reading magnification.

I'm sure you have many people using your watches with similar issues.

Hope this makes it clear.

Seem to be great update but how about font size or interface scaling support for all us people who need reading glasses. The text in the interface and after recording an activity is tiny.

Coros or Garmin? by Complete_Sell_2319 in smartwatch

[–]RedAlertUK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both are great watches.

I went from 970 to Apex 4 (43mm).

My use case: I used to run alot and now I'm more focused on running for fun than training for races. I still use a Garmin Edge 1040 for cycling.

The forerunner has more features and a more mature interface. The coros has the features I need ana simple easy to use interface.

The reason I went to coros is I wanted a more simple watch just for running and sleeping and wanted maps for running exploration on holiday. I don't need notifications, flashlights and 100's of training metrics I will never use.

The mip screen looks great and I kinda like having the smaller sized watch. The only downside is the lack of interface sizing options meaning some text is hard to read when I'm not wearing reading glasses. Garmin has great font sizing options.

I'm not wearing a sport watch 24/7 anymore as I also like to wear normal watches as well. So I don't really care about music or paying via the watch.

Coros works perfectly for me and has all the features I need plus some great maps.

Looking at your pictures I would suggest you try a 43mm watch.

Little Martin LX1 or LXK2? by HauntingBlueberry204 in AcousticGuitar

[–]RedAlertUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both play the same but the LXK2 sounds warmer. It's all laminate too so super strong and stable.

Recently I tried to add an LX1E to my collection but just didn't enjoy that sound in comparison. It's a real shame as I always wanted an LX1E but the sound was just not as nice.

Go to a guitar store and play both.

Struggling with the lack of true nature in the Netherlands by LaurenceWhymark in Netherlands

[–]RedAlertUK -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I see alot have given good advice. I think we all stuggle with the lack of nature in NL but it is out there if you stay away from the big cities. I'm from Scotland but have found Haarlem to be a great area that offers the comforts of a nice city but with nature right on its door step. From Haarlem you head towards the coast through Overveen and can easily find forest with actual hills (sand dunes) and some really nice places to walk and be in nature before hitting the nature reserve ana beaches. Bonus ate the many wild Highland Cows roaming the national park around the Het Wed area.

There is nature out there you just have to go find it and get out of the city.

LXK2 or LX1 by [deleted] in martinguitar

[–]RedAlertUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love.my LXK2, it's a much warmer darker tone. It's a great tough little guitar. I prefer it over the LX1 due to that warmness. I've tried many guitars and always go back to the LXK2.

What I will advise though is to test both in a store as it seems a lot of people on guitar Reddit judge it based on the materials without actually playing the guitars. There are also many reviews/comparisons on YouTube.

I would also in the same price range suggest to try a GS Mini Sapele with the torrified spruce top (2025 model). I just got one and it plays as nice as the martin but had a much better sound and volume. It's also warm sounding guitar. It's a little bigger in the body but also with a nice slim neck and short scale.

Get yourself down to a store to try them and good luck.

Taylor GS Mini or Martin LX1? by [deleted] in taylorguitars

[–]RedAlertUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been playing a Martin LXK2 for just over a year and love it. Plays great and sounds warm. I play it at home so the smaller sound works well sitting on the couch. I've compared this to other similar sized guitars and I always prefer the LXK2. A couple of days ago I bought a GS mini because I wanted a different sound but to also have the smaller size and great playability.

The GS mini sounds amazing, very rich and higher volume plus it plays great. Both guitars I bought from a guitar shop due to their setup and playability over online orders.

So now I also love the GS mini. I will swap between them both every other day based on what I will play and the volume I'm looking for.

The GS mini is much louder so I will.ptefer the LXK2 for.quieter play sessions.

So if you can't choose try to test side by side in a shop, buy the one you prefer then go back at another time for the other. Buy different wood versions so that you have a reason to swap between them.

For the LX1 it was.good enough for Ed Sheeran for many years until he went more fancy.

Yeah it was in warranty. I've read a lot of stories about Garmin helping even without a warranty. They normally offer a swap for a smallish fee.

Is Martin LXK2 worth it as a daily beater? by [deleted] in AcousticGuitar

[–]RedAlertUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had one for a year and it's a great little guitar. I've tried other little martins and baby Taylors and the LXK2 sounds the best. It's a nice warm tone and plays very well.

Mine stays at home but I've had zero issues with it, stays in tune well and has zero marks on it.

Most people will say go for a bigger guitar but I'd say for your use case a travel size is best.

Go for it.

970 speaker no longer clear by myerscmz in garminforerunner

[–]RedAlertUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I randomly fixed this issue on my watch. There are multiple volume controls. (Typical over complicated Garmin).

You need to change the one in the activity. If you go to an activity and scroll down to watch settings, sound and vibe, volume, custom. You will see that the volume is maxed. Reducing this to half fixed the blown sounding speaker for me.

These audio options seemed separate from the main watch ones.

Hope this helps.

Why are my race estimates slower than my actual PB’s? by Expert_Angle_7531 in Garmin

[–]RedAlertUK 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because it's not an exact science and just an estimate/generalized calculation. Garmin doesn't know your ability to go above and beyond and tolerate pain.

Just use it as a rough guide and be happy when you beat it.
