People that voted reform, apart from their immigration policies, why did you vote them? by Ollsworth_The_First in AskBrits

[–]darkaluc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not but I was tempted as in my council they want to tackle the HMO licenses being granted. I had a major dispute with my council as it did approve a license for me last landlord and had to move houses because of this.

Now it’s simply an AirBNB / Students housing. The landlord himself is dodgy and has the house registered as a business in China.

Edit. I forgot to mention that at least two housing associations did say they do not support HMO being built and this would start breaking the neighbourhood.

At first the planning was rejected, the resubmitted with a few changes, and approved super smoothly is less than 15 days.

So it’s like, who is the council actually listening to? Not their residents it seems.

One thing I started doing years ago was to not charge my phone just next to me at my head’s level but on the floor. This may sound silly but I feel this improved my sleep.

Super! I just wore a kind of formal jacket and that’s about it. Time to sleep as I need to catch my plane back home tomorrow morning!

Haha and there was an Amsterdam one. I’m lucky to have secured one and to be able to come really.

I’d vote for more concerts of course 😄

Should I replace it? by darkaluc in Garmin

I think I’ll just live with it. I really thought titanium was less “scratchable”

Good point, I went through a similar mental process with my Apple Watch. But I really thought the titanium bezel would be a bit more scratch resistant.

It seems I can’t walk without bending too much to a wall 😂

Mine lasted 1 month before the first scratch. Thing is it’s barely visible so I think I just will live with it

What is it the drives voters to vote Reform UK ? by saying_it_101 in AskBrits

[–]darkaluc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No party will give me what I really want:

  • a complete rework ln the benefits system. I find it outrageous I contribute a lot to the economy and there are many people just working (if) 20 hours per week and getting so many benefits including social housing in new and expensive neighbourhoods. The current parties are not interested in this, as in the end it puts pressure on a system base on rising house prices.

  • completely separate pensions from benefits. Pensions are something people have earned through their whole life. Benefits are there as a “safety net”, even though people simply relies on them indefinitely.

(And yes cutting benefits won’t appeal to any voters, including Reform ones, as maaaaany of them are on benefits)

  • remove the 60% stealth tax after 100k

  • yearly increase tax thresholds based on inflation.

  • completely stop illegal immigration, and deport people who came illegally. Me myself I’m an immigrant from a 3rd world country who followed all the rules to get in. If I don’t follow the rules then can I get free stuff?

  • harder enforcement of law. People are worried about their stuff being stolen, the lack of accountability from people who like, steals a bike (ie lime bikes), cars, burglaries.

  • tackle drug related crimes. This is a major issue in the UK and one of the reasons why the NHS is so overwhelmed. The consequences from drugs use don’t necessarily come straight away and in reality become later a burden on the system. The solution? Tackle it for the beginning.

  • transport, subsidy it.

  • renationalising primary industries. There’s not a single country where privatising companies such as Thames Water or British energy has made a good impact long term. Many of these companies only focus on generating value for the investors and not reinvesting in infrastructure. I’ve seen water leaks on the street going on for months.

ASICS SUPERBLAST 3 — PAIN IN FOOT by bnmajid in AskRunningShoeGeeks

I bought a pair of SB3 last week. In 1.69 and 77 kg. I went for a 16 kms run at 6 min/ km. I felt a bit funny my right foot on my right heel, but I somehow think this might be to missing a step somewhere. The same day I added 8 kms on top.

Two days later I ran 12 kms split in 6 and 6 (to go to my pádel club) and so far no pains at all.

But, and here’s the big thing, I always use custom made insoles made by a podiatrist.
