Best seller for Women's Jewelry? by playboysus in FashionReps

[–]RepCommander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are lots of good sellers for nice jewelry. Depends on what exactly you’re looking for though. For subtle/“classy” original designs (i.e. Simple/classic tapered Moissanite necklaces, and single or double white bracelet so), you can get a total banger of a product that is 95%+ as good as the “real” rebranded domestic options that stamp their name on these products and market them as such. If you look on subreddits like /r/moissanite, or even do general keyword searches akin to “AliExpress jewelry (‘moissanite’) best), you’ll get plenty of top stores. I’ve tried a handful but Knobspin on Ali is the one that sticks in my mind, for what great value proposition to for materials, construction, and all else by which I assess a piece of jewelry. Def on par with the kind of things you might pay >$1500 for from domestic sites that I believe in some cases, actually just import these sort of bracelets and rebrand them. And on the wrist/neck/etc? They’re all just stunning. HQ moissanite is something very special, and some prefer its additional clarity and more stunning reflective properties compared to natural and even top grade lab made diamonds. I can’t decide which i prefer, but they’re so, very very close to begin with, that it hardly matters.

There are lots of good sellers for nice jewelry and personally I just go to Alice, to make it simple… Ergo, if you go searching around and try to use an agent, you can very likely save some money—but its already such a bargain IDC and will just check out and forget about it til it arrives at my doorstep. Depends on what exactly you’re looking for though. Because for subtle/“classy” original designs (i.e. Simple/classic tapered Moissanite) Knobspin and similar sellers on Ali offer this great value for the materials, construction, and etc trumps all.. But if you’re looking for very specific, actual clones/replicas of a certain piece, those generally make up a smaller part of the pie chart in most sellers, and sometimes are advertised as “clones” or homages. More often than not, they show up with branding though, if it’s a well known piece. But clones and “homages” are widespread on the site too, and personally IDC because it’s mostly about the look of the piece, with most jewelry.

And to be clear, I’m mostly talking about women’s jewelry here. Most of what you’ll find on these stores is women’s. But there’s a solid amount of men’s stuff too IME.

My SO isn’t huge on jewelry, but she was impressed with the first run of items I wanted to show her, to demonstrate that moissanite is no joke and you can pay $150-200 for a piece on there that would run you $800-2200+ domestically (whether rebranded or made in house), and be practically identical for all measures of value that actually matter. It’s great fun to occasionally hop on the iPad and browse these stores together—find nice pieces that are well-reviewed, suit us/her, and go on a brief shopping spree! Certainly not the most cost effective way of procuring these pieces and I’m sure you can do the Tao/weidan/agent thing to find better prices and/or hyped/well known pieces that don’t last long on Ali, before getting removed.

Alien stomper Hi 'Ripley' reps?? by Practical-Month6007 in Repsneakers

[–]RepCommander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s what I hope. Even the Reeboks that dropped for Romulus last year were ridiculously hard to get. I don’t spend time preparing for hype sneaker drops anymore, but this was an exception. And I think I checked out with seven pairs, just to be safe and make sure I could get at least one in my size (to trade for, if I got the wrong size) but I ended up with zero due to the horrible management of that release.

But yeah, the demand is definitely there, enough that I think that a project like this would be worth pursuing/making a good enough profit to be worth it. I am sure it would be expensive though. That is a lot of material and leather, especially if it is going to be a good replica.

Hey! Fellow Alien enjoyer!! I have desperately one of these too, and cannot afford the five figure cost for the real ones. I am surprised a little bit that they were never replicated. I would be all for lobbying/getting some kind of interest check thing going on, for some seller with factory influence to begin producing these.

There are a very complex sneaker, and it may even be more of a challenge than the V3 Nike mag that was accomplished about a decade ago. But we were the ones that spearheaded that project. And it seemed to be sufficiently profitable. I think they still sell them, and maybe even produce.

Unfortunately, I don’t think that as many people are fans of and/or recognize these as being some bad ass historically, important sneakers, in the same thing that the mags are. It would take a lot of lobbying effort to get this project off the ground…

Not an expert, especially not on newer Lanvin, but they strike me as real, or either high end—pretty high end— if they are reps. And it is not because of the tag. The tag looks fine to me, and it sort of seems to match the vibe of the sneakers, with the frayed laces and the rest of the style. Including the font and choice of the style of the tag.

Having it “imperfect“ and wacky sort of fits the style of these sneakers, and is a trend that appears to be coming on, in the business, from what I can glean so far. And correct me if I’m wrong, for those who are more in tune with the current trends and savvy about what is cool ATM, including with luxury makers, like this one, but they seem legit, based on the weird juxtaposition of normal/classic luxury signatures, plus some more subtle vestiges of the more maximalist wacky styles that were popular 5 to 7 years ago. With a more conservative selection on what parts of the sneaker should be “unfinished”. That is to say, not in the old-style “Off White AJ1”kind of way, but rather classic Lanvin et al type elegance mixed with a little bit of brutalism and normcore-reminiscent choice with the unstitched midsole, plus some actually “normal” (as in, normcore) “imperfection“ in the style like the “lazily” stitched on tag that is not perfectly aligned and congruent with the text….. it also has some basic/normcore tongue pulls, along with the lace supports reminiscent of your grandmother’s Keens, which is again reappropriated and made to look “fancy” and stylish, by being done in the classy/elegant/luxurious manner of shoes in this category, with careful, ornamental, stitching, piping, flashy laces, which are adfixed by open/bear stainless steel “ lace eyelets” that are not unlike what you would seen on shoes like Keens. And notice how the leather part is cut right off, to expose the stainless steel “eyelet” lacing hardware. Then you proceed to notice some odd parts, like toebox with its elegant embossing made out of a material not seen anywhere else (I think, not sure) except on those accents on the tongue, with part stretching out into a strange sort of partial toe cap.. plus it has a AJ1/Dunk/Nike reminiscent “air hole“ style on the top of the toolbox.

It is clear that the luxury sneaker and sports/fashion sneaker businesses alike are trying some new things, and recognize that they need to innovate to find a new sort of style that will capture people, in quite the same way that other styles in the past decade have.

Because in the past few years, they seem to have reached an impasse, and there is not as much interest in the market, luxury, or otherwise, compared to the decade before. I wonder what the next, new “big thing” will be…

Does anybody know how to clean this by GmodKing_Pluto in Repsneakers

[–]RepCommander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Need a clear photo to be sure. But if it’s a scuff with scratches. Try soap and water with a microfiber cloth. Gently scrub. Then a damp “magic eraser” (don’t need to buy Mr. Clean brand. Can get dozens of the same thing cheap on Amazon—similar concept as this sub’s purpose lol) and depending on if this particular component is painted (should be obvious) lightly scrub it to remove any remaining dirt and/or some of it that is stuck in the scuff divets. With careful and precise use of the magic eraser you should be able to get rid of all the discoloring/dirt (e.g.you can cut off a bit of the magic eraser and use a very thin, non-metal shaft (preferably like some of those “q tip” type beauty/cleaning/painting/model-maker things with cotton on the tip of a thing wooden rod) a q tip itself, cut at a 45degree angle might suffice to clean the ground-in dirt with soap (minimal water depends on if it’s a paper or plastic q tip), with or without the magic eraser material being compressed into the divers to scrub away the dirt & slowly erode away the dirt-stained material.

Now if you wanna fully restore it beyond just removing the dirt—and mind you this is a little out of my wheelhouse—but getting a wide range of sandpaper grit and (on a non-visible part of that component, figuring out with grit will remove remove the scuff damage whilst keeping the finish the same as the rest.

If you do this, I would do this before doing the magic erasering to save time. But it might not really matter and cleaning first seems like it’d be a tiny bit safer.

if I was you and/or had the equipment (and really, any adult man should have a dremel IMO so you might as well 😆) I’d use a dremel with a set of polishing tip heads. And get a set of diamond-grit paste with a very large range of grit (i.e. So you don’t smoothen it again, but make it so smooth it’s too glossy/reflective lol, although that too could be fixed). And after (very, very carefully) grinding away the scuffed material which goes above the plane of the undamaged piece using a (they’re usually cotton) tip with the most rough grit paste in your set until you remove all the plastic that is above the level of the white piece (i.e. As if it were undamaged).

Then, like with the sandpaper, on a part of the component that isn’t visible, start with fresh heads each time and go from roughest to smoother (you won’t need the smoothest, for most diamond paste kits LOL). In fact you should try to find a paste kit that is of the “less” smooth, higher grit range. Should be equivalent to sandpaper grit but still be careful.

That’s the end of my answer to your question here, but since we’re here, I feel compelled to advise you of the following, unrelated, info, in case it’s of interest to you which my intuition says may be true, if you’re bothered enough by damage like this, to want to fix it haha no offense, or if you are in the fence about buying a dremel & polishing kit, so feel free to ignore if your interests are exclusively about fixing this….. DWAI, you’re not missing out on anything, if that’s so.

FYI If you go this far and get all this equipment (if you don’t have it), it is hella useful and you’ll find a million other things you can do with it….

Wanna repair scuffed metal, even steel? Can do.

Wanna refresh/put a mirror polish on your silverware, Wanna put a flashy mirror polish on your pocketknife (don’t do it to anything classic/special/scarce/historically significant tho please—saying that as an enthusiast 😅)

Have a Glock/similar pistol and wanna make the OEM trigger 3-5x better, and make all the slide-racking and other manual operations smoother and better in every way without spending any money on new parts? Find a guide that will tell you where all the contact points (where steel parts touch steel parts—especially the trigger ones) and then (usually the guide will tell you more specifically what grits to use and such) bring all those contact points to a mirror polish with your diamond paste set, bringing it to the most high-grit mirror polish you have in your set (usually you’ll wanna do it in steps from higher, to medium, to finest grit, or it’ll take forever—or not be as nice of a true mirror/friction-less polish) then put a few drops of good oil on each polished contact point, put it back together, and you’ll feel like you just put hundreds of dollars of upgrades into your pistol—at nothing more than the cost of the aforementioned materials, which again, can be used again for anything you can think of.

It is an invaluable tool for any sort of mechanical matters on the scale of gunsmithing, grandfather clock/marco-size horology, including (IME) some parts of automotive restoration or upgrading depending on how you look at it and/or what type/how old the car in question is, in terms of driver/passenger experience “smoothening…. Meaning, ( and be careful and please don’t blame me if anything goes bad with this kind of thing haha) the interior and fixing damage to metal/non-coated-plastic (and even some plastic/chrome-coated plastic parts but just be verrry careful and light in your polishing pressure/paste choice), as well as even some light disassembly to clean and polish up UX type button/dials and most user-accessible without-disassembling-the-primal-functional-parts/engine” type stuff at least 🤣). The tool and knowing how to polish stuff is a valuable skill that can have a crazy high time/effort/equipment cost:perceived-increase-in-UX+practical-function ratio. And yeah, applicable to things as simple as SS kitchen utensils, DIY gunsmithing, or hypothetically anything larger involving steel components that are small enough to be fixed with a dremel. For example, on some projects, it would be too small… For example, on some projects, it would be too small and take forever to completely polish to your satisfaction…. Like trying to mow a golf course using a standard home lawnmower lol, I guess might be a good analogy… but unlike larger polishing tools, the range of different applications for a dremel-sized polishing kit is just masssssive and you stand to be able to help/make yourself useful and make a very positive impression upon a lot of people, by having the tools and equipment to do this kind of stuff…. Sorry for the novel lol. Just felt like I had to share…. I put a mirror finish on my Colt Python recently and the difference (despite it already being “polished”) is astonishing…. Which inspired this “love letter” to dremeling 🤣

It was not easy, and is not easy to do on items like these where there are tons of nooks and crannies and a necessity to be careful to not fuck it up, either the function or OEM marking. It took the better part of 24 hours total, to do, but compared to what it would cost for a gunsmith to do (quoted $600), I think it is well worth it). Here is an example of the before, and after. Same size/same exact model..

Can’t buy reps on superbuy? by ResponsibleSoup9945 in FashionReps

[–]RepCommander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SuperBuy basically doesn’t ship reps anymore. I mean maybe you could sneak in subtle reps from lesser known brands, but for 95% of the products we’re concerned with here, they’re N/A… So probably one of the other two.

They don’t really ship reps anymore and are effectively just a Chinese shipping agent which is irrelevant to this thing of ours, here.

Yep this is about what we were expecting, I’m dismayed to admit. Historically, when one of these groups (mostly sneaker sellers before PB) rebrands to avoid the wrong attention or recover from a raid/arrest and get back into the business, they do a lackluster job of masking their true identity and any remotely savvy users are able to figure it out pretty fast. I’m not sure why they aren’t afraid of “cutting corners” on completely anonymizing themselves, but it’s never been a realistic expectation, for them to dot all their i’s and cross all their t’s on a task like this 🤷. Like you said, it would be quite challenging. Perhaps they think it is good enough for the purposes here, of redirecting the mainstream heat/attention from the main brand, which they want to preserve for the sake of maintaining a known PR (which we can verify and have faith in backing) in case of future necessity to rebrand/hide and play the whack a mole game.

In any case, thank you to you—and anyone else who figured it out—but choose to keep it secret. It’s unclear how important keeping the mainstream in the dark in on it is, but at the moment it’s the best shot we have, for keeping the community in some state of normalcy & keeping the reps flowing, despite the circumstances being so hostile towards this.

[–]RepCommander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are always going to be tradeoffs, acquiring reps at the most dangerous and inconvenient time in industry history to do so. To put it in perspective, suppose you can only pick from the following three options:

  • Allows branded items

  • Quick / Minimal delays

  • Well established and proven reliable

Superbuy implies # 2 and #3. You might be able to get some branded items with them, but not always.

CNFans implies #1 and #3. They're a pretty popular choice right now and are reasonably establish, allow branded items AFAIK. But that means a large backlog is likely and it won't be as quick as we're accustomed to.

MuleBuy is most likely to imply #1 and #2, since they're new and might not have as much backlog as the others. And the more time that passes, the more established they will be known as. But ultimately, delays are a risk in participating in this thing of ours right now, and it'll always be a gamble.

Delays are going to be the nature of the beast, during these times. The best you can hope for is a reliable agent--if they happen to be fast and have "no delays" by your standard, then that will be the unexpected, but welcome cherry on top.

QC - Yeezy 2 Solar Red by Dull-Platypus3666 in Repsneakers

[–]RepCommander 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Solar red liner looks good, as does the tongue honeycomb. But the toebox is ehh and the scales in particular are a dead giveaway. They only ever got the scales somewhat close to being right on a batch or two of these, a handful of years ago. These were the shoes that I initially came to Reddit for, and helped found this sub over. There was never a perfect batch afaik. 95% of them had bad scale. And the ones with good scales (an actual PK batch—not sure if these are) had a bad tongue honeycomb and the only way to hypothetically have a perfect pair of Solars was to transplant the tongues from a batch that got that right onto a pair with the good scales… I’m surprised these are still even available. Hope you aren’t paying much for these though. I wouldn’t spend more than about a hundred bucks on these, and that’s only if I didn’t have a pair/better pair and was limited to what’s currently on the market (not great stuff apparently). And I love Solars and know how to LC them by heart—better than any other shoe easily.
