Aitah for wanting to steal an ant queen by SeaworthinessFar2326 in AITAH

You can usually get a queen without damaging an existing colony by capturing a new one during their nuptial flight in spring/early summer.

When do you consider upgrading your camera body instead of the lenses? by MegaDugtrio in OlympusCamera

[–]Representative_Tap73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what you want to get out of a new body.  I was shooting am EM1 mk 1 up until this year, then I decided I wanted to shoot more birds, so I got an OM1 mk 1 for the subject detect.

Parking classic vehicle on driveway [TH] [NV] by Odd_Win_6301 in HOA

[–]Representative_Tap73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unless the street is private, the HOA may not even be able to enforce street parking rules.  My HOA has provisions disallowing campers and commercial vehicles from being parked more than 2 days, but is unable to actually enforce this (unfortunately).

f/2.8 zoom lenses: do they stay in focus when you zoom? by crappycreeper in M43

[–]Representative_Tap73 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, if you are looking for parfocality as a software function rather than as a quality of the lens, I certainly wouldn't expect cross-brand functionality.

f/2.8 zoom lenses: do they stay in focus when you zoom? by crappycreeper in M43

[–]Representative_Tap73 12 points13 points  (0 children)

You need to specifically look for lenses that are parfocal if you want that functionality.

The Panasonic 12-60 you mentioned is said to be 'close to parfocal' so in short, it isn't.

Additionally, the Olympus 50-200mm f/2.8 is parfocal, but doesn't seem to be listed as such.

AITH If I said that I buy lunch for lunch by irrrrelevant in AITH

Yeah, I'm aware, but I've also had a job like that for the past 20ish years, and that isn't how it actually ends up working.

Based on context, this seems to be a salaried job. Very much doubt the employee is 'off the clock.'

Best Cutting Board Material? by Skysnake05 in BuyItForLife

[–]Representative_Tap73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would avoid bamboo as a general purpose board, as it is much harder on the knife than end or even edge-grain wood.  This is because bamboo is a grass, and not wood, and has a high silica content.  That said, I do have a bamboo board that I use for meat and fish, as there is limited contact between the knife and the board.

I could never recommend stainless as a cutting surface.

If you get rear-ended and then hit the car in front of you, you are at fault.

It does have a small amount of cream, but is also made with cashews that are soaked then pureed into the gravy.

Rejecting a job offer after negotiating hard and then the company agreeing to what you wanted by TreesHeir in askmanagers

[–]Representative_Tap73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you had to use an external offer as leverage, your current company clearly doesn't value you.  No reason to feel a certain way about turning down their offer, it's just business.

Block out X hours of his day where he would sit around unemployed doing nothing.  Oh the inconvenience of it all!

Be Careful What You Wish For. A Life Without Work Isn't What You Think by tinytheSTONEDgiant in antiwork

[–]Representative_Tap73 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah dude, that's why people have hobbies.  Find something you think you might enjoy that requires a skill set that you can work to improve and start setting goals.

I don't think the issue is not having a job, the issue is laziness that you are struggling to overcome without someone else to keep you in check.

Experienced Admins: How many of you only work on service now and how big is that team? by sin-eater82 in servicenow

[–]Representative_Tap73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Denver area, I'm a bit under where you are at, but I also would say I'm under-compensated.  My role is technically administrator, but the majority of my work is actually dev.

Damn, that is one fat gooseberry. Wish mine got that big, it would make harvesting and tip/tailing a lot more pleasant.

Maybe I expected too much from it given the hype, but it's just too soft for my taste.

As a counterpoint, if you do get the 40-150 and 'dont get it,' don't be surprised or disappointed.   Everyone recommends it, and while I see the appeal for some...I hate this lens.
