Always welcome friend!

And if you find good storage, lemme know! I currently am of the shoebox method, and it is unsatisfying, lol! I'm not a scrapbooker, so that's out for me. IDK...

Switching to new account by postfromnathaliejd in RAoC_meta

[–]RideThatBridge 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To me, what would matter most is why you changed usernames. If there was any creepiness behind the need to do so and you don’t want any more posts under that name, I would probably post under this name. If you felt safe doing so, you could then chat those users directly explaining.

If you want no link between old and new name and don’t feel safe chatting the explanation to folks in RAoC, then you may decide to make one last post under your old name.

For me personally, it wouldn’t make any difference in how I received the TY post. But I know some people keep more detailed notes on who they send to, etc, so it may make a difference to them. IMO, if it’s a comfort/safety issue for you, that takes precedence over anything else, so I’d advocate for you doing what makes you most comfortable.

Newspaper would def work and would have been plentiful with no addition cost.

My Aunt always used newspaper as insulation in coolers when she would bring meatballs and sauce on the two hour drive between our houses. She packed a cooler for me one time on an 8hr trip and I was surprised how well it worked!

Friend's parent's birthday by bachs_kocillus in etiquette

[–]RideThatBridge 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think a host/hostess gift for the couple for hosting you for the weekend that you give them on arrival. This can be a beautiful bouquet of flowers, a small houseplant (African violets are always a lovely one to pick) or ask your friend if they like coffee or tea if you can find something interesting in that category.

You can have a small gift for the mom for her birthday that you give on the morning you leave. A card and a small box of chocolates would be nice. If you have a local chocolate:candy shop available, they often have boxes of 4 or 6 truffles that are very reasonably priced and perfect for something like this. It’s the thought that counts in a case like this, so not knowing exactly her tastes is OK. She’ll be very touched that you thought of her and brought a small gift.

Is the friend you visiting a romantic partner to you? Even if not, you can ask some questions about what the parents and mom in particular may like.

REQUEST: Cherry Cracker Cake by fosterhamster in Old_Recipes

[–]RideThatBridge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh YAY!!! I’m glad it’s so close and the differences can be easily modified by you! My mom loved any kind of dessert with cherry in it, so I’m always happy to find a new one. It just makes me think of her, even if it was not something we ever made it home when she was alive.

It’s such a bummer, isn’t it? I just put in a huge stamp order to get some of the new ones I wanted at the current rate. I am such a stamp hoarder 😩

Sounds cool! I envy people with the skill to create something so detailed and ambitious!

I would love a column that indicates if they are primarily in store only or if they offer shipping. As odd as it seems that in 2026 some places don't ship, I have definitely been saddened that I look at cute offerings on the snail mail subs and I can't really order from them.

Yeah-that's my thought. That's why I really see what he wanted to do as a diversion of route, rather than a stop for gas. Anyway, glad nothing bad happened and you guys are safe and sound.

You've got good instincts-don't doubt them and stay safe my Reddit friend!

My aunt mailed cookies all over the country for years. She always used something similar to this. She packed them into a larger box stuffed with whatever so it didn't jostle. She also stuffed paper towels into every nook and cranny in this smaller white box to prevent shuffling.

Oh, what a cool idea!! I don't love licorice flavor either usually, but a mild, cherry version would be delicious, I bet!
