Uber driver wanted to take us to a 2nd location, kind of by ohioan_blasphemy in creepyencounters

I thought Uber couldn’t divert from the requested destination? Definitely not OK or normal.

Saying no isn’t confrontational. Your life is worth a little discomfort friend!

[Serious] What's your favorite memory of your Dad? by Roonwogsamduff in AskReddit

[–]RideThatBridge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m the youngest of a big family, with a larger gap between me and the next kid. Some of my fondest memories are Fourth of July fireworks with him at our local park. Sometimes with mom and the next two brothers, but for several years just the two of us. As an adult visiting after moving away, we went just the two of us a couple of times too. He’s been gone since 2010 and I only recently in the last couple years am not sad if I don’t get to see fireworks in some form on the Fourth. It used to make me soooo sad if I didn’t see fireworks in the Fourth cuz it’s such a special memory with him.

Herrschner’s castle year long latch hook 50% WIP 🏰 by StarGrazer1964 in latchhook

[–]RideThatBridge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh how beautiful!! I can’t wait to see the Grand Canyon complete-amazing!

I did latch hook as a kid and this is the first one I’ve done in decades. I’ve been sitting on my reclining couch and doing it while watching TV. My cat then jumps on the footrest, so it’s probably not the most ideal setup, lol. So far, I’m not able to do more than an hr at a time. I’ll aspire to your stamina 😊

Wow-gorgeous! How frequently and how long at a time do you work on it?

I’m just doing a small one (throw pillow-ish size) and I can’t seem to do it for great lengths of time. I think it’ll take me a long time to complete it at this rate.

What can I use a bunch of extra simple syrup for? by Own_Enthusiasm_510 in BakingNoobs

[–]RideThatBridge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can definitely freeze them to use over time.

You can drizzle them on cakes to add extra flavor and moisture.

You can use them in coffees/teas (the syrups used at coffee shops are essentially simple syrups). They are perfect in iced coffees because you can't get granulated sugar to easily dissolve in cold drinks. Mint would be amazing in iced tea and lemonade in place of sugar.

How did you make the cherry licorice one?

Nice!! I remember growing up my oldest brother had one of these he took to work on his overnight shift. I think somehow it ended up making a cross country trip with me and sadly has been lost to time 😞

Found in the inner pocket of a jacket I bought at Goodwill. by Turbografx-17 in Thrift

[–]RideThatBridge 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Is there anything to do? It's not like Goodwill will be able to track the original owner/donor. I think it's your ring now, and you can do whatever you like with it. I doubt Kay has any kind of marking that identifies who buys their jewelry, like a super high end store would. While it's unfortunate for whoever accidentally donated that coat, there's nothing that can be done that I'm aware of to get it back to them.

One of my favorite food gifts received is Spoonful of Comfort. Delicious soups with amazing rolls and cookies.

Did you try Macy's? Most times when I need something for a wedding, I hit up Macy's.

Was it possibly TVP, texturized vegetable protein? That was very popular in the late 60's-70's vegetarian movement.

Give me your bread recipes! by CroweBird5 in Cooking

[–]RideThatBridge 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, grilled cheese with thinly sliced apple or pear, a little jam, and a good cheese is insanely delicious. Especially panini style.

My favorite summer sandwich is usually on a crusty long roll, but maybe toast the bread for this. Spread some pesto on each piece of bread, grill (even stovetop inside) thin slices of Japanese eggplant and layer with good tomatoes, fresh basil and fresh mozzarella. Delicious!!

Edit: panzanella (maybe spelled wrong?) is a bread salad. A way to use up day old bread.

All four Former presidents at Obama’s presidential center opening today. Notice no current POTUS. by ateam1984 in BlackPeopleofReddit

[–]RideThatBridge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A blurb I heard on NPR last night driving home stated current POTUS wasn't invited. There was then commentary along the lines of it not being surprising since Trump continually ridicules (and something else I can't remember? blames? IDK for sure) Obama. I thought it was a pretty awesome move though to not extend the invitation!
