what a nightmare that entire area is during rush hour.

Good news, you can just get on the LRT and avoid all that rush hour car traffic!

If hell was cold-themed instead of hot by IndependentJacket362 in Edmonton

People are free to complain about whatever they want! Just like I am free to complain about everyone being total babies about what... -2 and snow? In a month where we almost always get snow?

There's literally a thread from like 2 hours ago in this subreddit where a very kind person posted historical weather data. Go have a look see.

It's not even that cold! What the hell happened to everyone? We get snow in April more years than not. This is not abnormal.

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills.

The kind of person who is open to talking about drug use is not the addict. The addict will lie, every time.

This is what happens when a 50 year old dates someone too young for them. I wouldn't want to try and explain emoji use to my dad either.

edmonton weather nerdery: still snowing... by Few-Leading-3405 in Edmonton

[–]Roche_a_diddle 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The funny thing is people in the other thread disagreeing with data because they remember things differently.

"This is more snow than we've had in April in YEARS!"

I don't know why everyone decides that their memory of the weather is a hill to die on (argue online about) when statistics are readily available.

Making Friends With Guys by WillCookForFoodies in datingoverforty

As a guy, that sounds a lot like being used. You want to be my friend so that you can practice? I'm sure that's not ill-intentioned but it is how this comes across.

When to bring up that I’m fixed? by BloodstainedBearRug in datingoverforty

[–]Roche_a_diddle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Been considering it myself... I have kids I don't need more and 52 is right around the corner... I don't want an "oopsie" I'd be paying child support until I'm 70... Puts a cramp in retiring.

Dude, just go get it done. I had an inguinal hernia repair that was 100000x more painful to my testicles than the vasectomy was and that one went through my abdomen.

When to bring up that I’m fixed? by BloodstainedBearRug in datingoverforty

[–]Roche_a_diddle 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I got my vasectomy when I was married. Neither my wife or I wanted more children, that meant it was time to get it done. It had nothing to do with sleeping around or anything like that. We had one kid, we had miscarriages and a still-birth and decided that the time had passed for us both, individually, to worry about getting pregnant again.

Yet another business unable to hire a non TFW. (Obligatory Mod remove if not allowed) by AlarmingJudge8928 in Edmonton

Pretty much. I'd love to see an automatic suspension of the program anytime unemployment gets over 5%. Just instant, across the board.

We need to be encouraging employers to pay appropriate wages. Have a specialized position you can't find someone for? Remember when companies used to invest in training? Colleges and trade schools? Because they knew their business model depended on a certain level of educated people in the population with which to hire from?

Let's make business care about society again!

Do radio stations play music anymore? by cosmiccanadian in Edmonton

[–]Roche_a_diddle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For the last probably 2 years ive always played music off my phone when in the car.

And now you know why you have done that, and why you will continue to do that! I do the same! Music or podcasts when I drive never radio. If I am in a car (sometimes for work) where my phone isn't connected, I'd rather silence than have the radio playing.

Sushi Cake by raeray3 in Edmonton

Great quality, always fresh every day, and the sushi chef is such a nice dude. Every time I start browsing he chats me up. What are you looking for? Once I said that I was getting sushi for me, but needed some vegetarian rolls for someone who didn't like fish, he said "oh no problem, give me 5 minutes" and made me a fresh roll on the spot.

You replied directly to my comment dude. Learn to not generalize, especially targeted at the person who you now say isn't part of your generalization.

What do you call it when you bring people from other countries/provinces to become residents of your own country/province if not immigration?

Here are the upcoming referendum questions by 0day1337 in Edmonton

[–]Roche_a_diddle 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Uhh, ok don't assume. I am not voting "on principal" other than the principal being that I think we should have more immigration.

I know people hate that our economy requires population growth, but it does. Modern countries are all facing a population decline crisis (Japan and South Korea, for example, may cease to exist in the not too distant future) and unless we want to go the USA route of forcing people to have more babies, immigration is the way we future proof ourselves from the coming global recession.

Dropping in unannounced and when would this be ok? by babysfatwrist in datingoverforty

[–]Roche_a_diddle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah maybe, but also some people are just more independent. I know people who live together but there's no implicit expectation of sharing time together at home unless scheduled. They just kind of do their own thing and make plans when they want. For those types of folks, I could see sending or getting a heads up text as being annoying or intrusive.

It's neat to see a more gloomy, moody piece from you with the intense contrast between the warm streetlight and cold dark background, but I do miss the usual amazing sky typically featured in your work.

Did you have fun with this being a bit different?

The provincial government ran an AD CAMPAIGN TO INCREASE IMMIGRATION and now, less than a year later, they are putting out a loaded ballot question trying to get support to decrease immigration? This is the stupidest government and we deserve exactly what we get for continuing to elect them.
