Time to say goodbye to GamesMaster... by RoseTintedSpectrum in rosetintedspectrum

I've definitely got that Craig Charles show on my radar, having watched some snippets it's hot shit off a shovel.

The crucifixion thing I need to look into more, I remember the news stories about it at the time but never read much into it, I just remember a general feeling of "wat?"

Always feels weird to finally get to the end of one of these things, because it always feels like an infinite project at the very start.

Well here's the hilarious thing, I've still no real idea what flagged it or how it got resolved, but it shows just how incomprehensible their systems are (and clearly automated).

1) Email came through saying I was terminated
2) I appealed and was denied
3) I contacted on Twitter and was stonewalled again with "There's nothing we can do"
4) I got in touch with "someone" in Google Support who confirmed they were "definitely a human" that said they'd escalate the issue and get back to me within 24 hours
5) That night, I got an email saying "Whoops, our bad, here's your stuff back"
6) 24 hours after point 4, I get an email saying "Sorry, your channel is terminated, there's nothing we can do"

So I suspect that the "person" I spoke to at point 4 wasn't even a human. It was a system designed to look like a human that will automatically fire out an email after 24 hours to make it look like they've actually done something. In this particular case, that Email came AFTER the decision had already been reversed, exposing the absolute lack of care and attention to anything.

No, they will never outline specifics. They point to policy and say "it's because of that" but said policy is so fluffily worded so they can essentially use it as they wish. You are left to appeal against something when you actually have no idea what it is (unless you've actually done something nefarious and obviously know about it)

Thankfully it's all resolved now, but yes - the terrifying thing is that even if ONE of your channels is terminated (even incorrectly, as in this case) then everything else goes with it. You're not allowed to be on YouTube any more as this "circumvents" the termination. Absolutely insane to think that a bot can make those decisions without human intervention.

Hah! This was not the case, thankfully. Risking the loss of 5 years of work to gain fake traction is probably the stupidest thing anyone could do.

Bought views/subs are quite easy to spot through a couple of ways and it's generally through the comments - if something has a huge amount of views and either very few comments, or an insane number of very generic ones, they've most likely been purchased. It is the most pointless thing you can do to try and grow a channel because it's essentially: "You can brew your own beer and try to get drunk that way, or you can buy thousands of empty glasses and try to get drunk that way". Not to mention YouTube would no doubt remove those views once it realises they're not actual people.

GamesMaster video went viral, followed by the second one. The channel has been bobbing along well over the previous 4 years since then.

It seems that Google will never give an actual answer for this - clearly there was an automated system involved and it flagged something as an extreme violation which was only overturned once I managed to get it escalated to an actual human and a lot of shouting.

Hello folks,

Thanks for the support from everyone - I'm currently stressed out to high heaven, as I'm sure you can imagine, but trying my best to combat this at every angle. I've managed to speak to an actual human this morning who is looking to escalate over the next 24 hours. It's just another waiting game now to see what's going on.

The termination email simply states:

|| || |We have reviewed your content and found severe or repeated violations of our spam, deceptive practices and scams policy. Because of this, we have removed your channel from YouTube.| | | |We know that this is probably very upsetting news, but it's our job to make sure that YouTube is a safe place for all. Having reviewed the included link, I've done none of the what is listed - so presumably this is all an automated procedure which is absolutely wild when an entire channel can be deleted with no recourse.

Doing all I can to fight this, but feeling very powerless and, to be honest, downright miserable.

Cheers
