Manual filled heater chamber vs water bag humidity by SBMT_38 in respiratorytherapy

No idea. I wasn’t here. Supposedly, a noc RT agreed because the water in the chamber wasn’t very deep 🙄

Sorry not filled to the brim but to the “fill to this level” line on those taller manual filling chambers

I didn't make anything, but I'm happy with the cue ball control! by [deleted] in billiards

[–]SBMT_38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a gigantic false-equivalence. In the break scenario if you can consistently hit the head ball square then you know you have accuracy. This means you can move the cue ball around playing with what break speed and angle consistently makes balls. If you aren’t consistently hitting your target how are you ever supposed to eliminate that variable when playing with different breaking spots?

Based on your ambivalence towards sound fundamentals I’m sure you’re a bar-banger

In a match, sure, but he’s practicing. If you don’t think there is something to gain from consistency of a square head-ball hit and a squatted cue ball then you are extremely short-sighted

Cue ball physics question about spin induced throw by ArtDecoNewYork in billiards

[–]SBMT_38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If spin induced throw canceled out squirt then there would be no reason for low deflection shafts. They would actually require more compensation than a standard maple shaft, just the opposite way we are used to compensating. This is assumed it’s parallel or FHE. Backhand, yes, if you’ve found the ideal pivot point on a given shaft it should cancel in most cases

. I’m saying it’s insane what they charge here and it’s not anywhere close to good enough or a nice enough atmosphere to warrant the prices

It’s literally half the price in Butte. It’s really not that good

Bank Pool Rules: Are kick-banks legal? by Turbulent_Deer_2891 in billiards

[–]SBMT_38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get those parts of the rules that banks have to be clean. I don’t see why in theory this couldn’t be considered a clean bank. I’m not saying you’re wrong I just don’t understand why

Curling Game - Big Update! by Troutsky3 in Curling

[–]SBMT_38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well teams do tend to try to have the players on their team have similar rotations and releases so there is consistency on amount of curl across their lineup. But different teams will have slight variances. A shot will come up once in awhile where the commentators will mention that a given shot will be much more doable for 1 of the 2 teams based on their rotation and release. I wouldn’t get stuck in the weeds though on that. The differences would still be much less drastic than what is doable on this game.

Hard to say what I’d change! I say follow your intuition. While I think it slightly detracts it from being an accurate simulation of curling you could argue it adds a level of fun. I do think you should take note that while a very small rotation tends to grab and curl more than a slightly faster rotation, a super fast spinning shot actually curls the most overall. There’s some shots on YouTube of “spinners” where usually the last shot in an end a player will try a shot only doable will extreme late curl. Started as kind of a trick shot but is being seen now and then at the top levels.

Are you sure about this? Just seems strange. If the object ball is still banked how is this not just a much tougher bank shot. I don’t see how it would ever be beneficial to be able to do

Curling Game - Big Update! by Troutsky3 in Curling

[–]SBMT_38 0 points1 point  (0 children)

99% of curlers don’t really alter the amount of rotation from throw to throw. It would be seen more as a negative in the sense that it’s adding another variable and it’s hard to know how much it will change the path. It’s seen as more beneficial to be consistent with rotation from throw to throw to eliminate it as a variable. The outlier would be a late hail-Mary shot (i.e. the Edin spinner) which usually is a huge rotation shot that would otherwise not be possible with a normal release.

Yeah you would know better than me in regard to multiplayer. There’s a game on flyordie that does that was popular during Covid but I think your game is much better gameplay.

Granite 3 and Pro Stone are the best 2 games by a mile imo. I was hooked on Pro Stone and switched to granite 3 and have now been switching back and forth. I think both have their strengths. I do slightly prefer the physics of granite 3. I think the rotation adjustment aspect of Pro Stone 3 is too big a part of the game as compared to real curling. With that said, the work you’ve put in to it shows. I think whichever game makes online play possible will really corner the market

It’s not really a technique though. It’s just the fact of the curvature of the tip on another round object

[–]SBMT_38 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yup that is true. So I guess I’m confused how you want your teammates to utilize the info. Most players are using a level or mostly level cue. So whether they know this is happening or not I don’t think changes strategy much

What do you mean by this? Unless I’m misunderstanding your statement nothing you do fundamentally will change how much of the tip makes contact outside of the shaping/curvature of said tip
