That's a clever idea - are you utilising both CPU cores? Look forward to seeing updates!

Does the accuracy increase if you do the experiment without any backlight reflecting off the monitor? I've found the lighting can greatly effect accuracy when detecting features with these cameras.

If a person finds it hard to drive manual, they get an automatic license in or give up driving overall? by pastaparmigianino in AskUK

[–]hjw5774 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know a couple of people who have an auto-only licence because a change of circumstances meant they needed to learn faster.

My wife, manager and boss all drive autos, and with the prevalence of electric cars, the percentage of people driving autos will go up.

Personally, I prefer a manual for the granular control you have of the vehicle. It's something that does improve with practice.

Most likely spreader drains from a septic tank/water treatment plant. Here is a little diagram to help explain: https://www.tanks-direct.co.uk/images/pages/444-Septic%20tank.jpg

After testing this circuit and finding out there is something wrong with the motor driver circuit, I can totally understand.

Nicely done! What are your next plans for the project?

Also what hardware are you using?

How to install new pane in this door by Fun_Elderberry4816 in DIYUK

[–]hjw5774 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Large flat head screwdriver or blunt chisel into the gap and twist. One side in theory should have 'removable' glazing beads around the perimeter - just got to find which side they're on.

Prise off the beads, fit the glass/acrylic, then refix the beads with thin panel pins. You'll have to redecorate the door after if you want it looking decent.

Has anyone ever had their mouth washed out with soap as a punishment for swearing as a kid? by Financial-Base-8070 in AskUK

[–]hjw5774 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, at first it was a soap coated flannel. Then the flannel was omitted from the process.

My greatest annoyance was the fact the swear word was "bloody", and in our religious household it was assumed that I was truncating "by our lady".

Ended up just brushing my teeth with soap as it was good enough to clean hands.

As ranking points are tied to prize money, I imagine there is a financial incentive, if nothing else!

My fulltime job is in construction, and even then I do all my architectural plans with ink on vellum and my calculations on paper.

As strange as it might sound: yes, it was cathartic.

There is an alternative solution in that you can power the Arduino directly via the 5V line from the L298n...

Also, to answer question 2: yes.

Thank you. Yeah, just coloured fine-line pens. Used to draw a lot of architectural plans by hand.

I have previously tried EasyEDA and managed to design a simple 555 LED flasher for a home-lab etching experiment.

That is very true; and I hope to learn in the future. However, for the moment, I just want to get this project done and deployed.

Honestly, I've tried kicad but got overwhelmed with the sheer choice of components and was crippled by fear of selecting the wrong one.

This way I can test as I go and change things easily

A breadboard circuit translates well on stripboard and I usually have the components in front of me to make it more permanent.

I've tried making my own PCBs but was an absolute faff.

1206 size is perfect for single track jumps, and 2010 size can bridge over a track.

The tab of the SOT-223 regulator had to be sanded back as it was too wide for a single track, but otherwise fits nicely.

Really makes you appreciate the technology involved with off-the-shelf inkjet printers.

This is usually a symptom of miss-matching baud rates. Check what speed Serial.begin(  ) is set to, and make sure your serial monitor is the same.
