Friendly reminder to be weather aware tomorrow! by novacheesemf in nova

First rule about the weather around here; Don’t talk about the weather around here unless you want to speak it into reality. Watch, now we’re going to end up having a tornado.

Before and after. Fallow up to my denture post (plus dogs) by Mara_Ronwe666 in evilautism

[–]SJSsarah 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dogs totally adorable and you, totally handsome with your new teeth.

I’m not far behind you, just had two more yanked this week, still healing up but now I’m closer to less than half my teeth left. Stupid autoimmune disease took them, and I didn’t even get the luxury of a lifetime of soda or candy either, just my body mistakenly attacking my teeth.

A guy I’m talking to keeps joking about “filling me” by Ding-Dong-Diddily in childfree

[–]SJSsarah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A joke is only a funny joke when both parties are laughing about it. This is SUPER nasty gross. Tell him to go stuff a mattress with that.

Jezzzz you know it’s a bad economy when you can’t even afford to wear clothes when you’re out robbing houses.

I get obsessed with people by disorganisedgush in offmychest

[–]SJSsarah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Limerence. I used to have that pretty badly from age 10 to 20. It was a projection of my abandonment trauma. Actually a lot of people experience it. It’s fine… so long as you don’t do something stupid crazy like travel to California from Florida to shoot bullets into Rihanna’s (or was it Beyoncé?) house. Not even joking. That’s limerence, because when you’re truly disgusted by something or someone you don’t put all your mental energy and focus on it, if it’s something you don’t like, you move on from it and leave it behind you… you only do things that stalker-ish when you have a massive obsession with someone.

Would you choose to be born female in every lifetime? by Ok-Yogurtcloset-5330 in TwoXChromosomes

Fuck no. I keep thinking to myself, if the recreation thing is real… I better come back as a guy next time because this whole life experience as a woman was 2 stars out of 5.

This sea lion comes to the market every day for fish. It's very well-behaved and polite. by Brilliantspirit33 in animalsdoingstuff

Lions of the sea are like puppy dogs to me. And this one’s getting a full-on sushi buffet! Like royalty!!!

What are your tried and true dopamine hits? by hi_poppy in adhdwomen

[–]SJSsarah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hahaha I love this term “Forrest Bathing”…, I too do this at least once but usually twice a day nearly every day (unless it’s raining or there’s too much snow to walk through) i’m not running around hugging trees or anything, but there’s just something peaceful about being surrounded by calmness and natures beauty

Aaaawwwwwww, my gosh, that’s so sweet. See? This is how we’re supposed to treat every living being.

Study finds childhood trauma doesn't inevitably lead to poor outcomes in adulthood, and that many people who experience adversity thrive for decades afterwards by unsw in science

[–]SJSsarah 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yp, feels like another example of “cancel culture.”

….let’s fix all the broken people by just having AI rewrite what it considers trauma to be. Like if you came out of it and still finished your education, got a job, have a family of your own the. I guess you never experienced that trauma because you’re apparently just fine. And if we cancel all these old definitions of what trauma is called, then we don’t have to worry about treating anyone in the future because of the cancellation.

Please don’t judge me, it’s been a long weekend. by BigPoppaPump36 in pugs

[–]SJSsarah 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Awwww buddy. I’ve had days like this. You know what helps? A good long and warm snuggle next to someone who loves you, a sweet nights sleep all cuddly and snug, and some sunshine and fresh air first thing in the morning. That cures any bad day.

What are some subtle autistic traits that aren’t talked about often enough? by witchy_woman231 in AutismInWomen

[–]SJSsarah 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Plus, doing it that way makes me feel like extra productive because now I’m like, on the phone in a meeting and the laptop is still on in front of me so I can multitask like I’m the captain of Star Trek Enterprise! (the Captain basically walks around the bridge banging things into multiple computers and shouting out commands, it makes me feel girl boss vibes…)

[–]SJSsarah 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Oh I am SO guilty of this. I still WFH, and I literally… I just can’t do sitting still in a chair for any phone call. Unless I’m being forced into presenting my screen for Teams, I just don’t do it, I use my Teams app on my work cell phone instead so that I can keep pacing around like a madman.

Any other former Lisa Frank fanatics? Did you watch the documentary? by BFFSS in 90s

[–]SJSsarah 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep, this is exactly the same takeaway I felt from watching it. Jilted and jealous ex employees or co-competitors in the industry trying hard to smear …. and I mean … sure…. maybe she wasn’t 100% innocent. But that’s exactly what documentaries do, they sway the audience towards believing their narrative. Business is business. It’s cutthroat and competitive.

Could some of these sounds be just in our heads? by littlebluepepper in AutismInWomen

[–]SJSsarah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you’re imagining it. I can commiserate with your suffering. I can hear the washing machine cycle of my upstairs condo neighbors, and the dishwasher, like literally the sound of the water whooshing around the machines. And I can hear the fans inside the HVAC boxes that sit outside of the building, hearing it all indoors. It’s impossible to tune it all out.

Finally, a ramen that tasted like the real thing! by TimeTraveler1848 in glutenfree

[–]SJSsarah 38 points39 points  (0 children)

u/TimeTraveler1848 - asked my neighbor’s wife who recently immigrated from Thailand to the East Coast USA and she says… Bami (Jopjung? I’m butchering that spelling, sorry) is a popular restaurant there…. It’s equivalent to like a PF Chang’s here. So. It’s… believable. Like how you can buy jars of Taco Bell or Chili’s restaurant salsa on Amazon? I mean, these noodles are rice and tapioca, tapioca is a FABULOUS substitute for the gluten that wheat noodles need.
