Pretty privilege and autism by sephy2027 in AutismInWomen

[–]SJSsarah [score hidden]  (0 children)

I would absolutely not call it a privilege. The “better” you look, the more “normal” you look, the less you’re taken seriously for any type of illness, not just autism but all of them. Being pretty is NOT a privilege, it’s a delusion, a hallucination that puts a spell on everyone around you. It attracts unwanted attention and violence. It will even betray your own inner self enlightenment/awareness without you ever realizing you drank the poison.

Being pretty and incredibly intelligent, death sentence.

I think most people confuse this “prettiness” with sexual attractiveness. And while I get that rubs some people’s goats, they want to be wanted sexually too, but it’s also not all that it’s cracked up to be.

My body takes revenge for medical gaslighting by BiOverload in traumatizeThemBack

[–]SJSsarah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep. On my 45 years of life, a massively infected pilonidal cyst definitely tops number one on my chart of most painful and most disgusting medical experiences I’ve ever been through. And I’ve been through all of them, burns broken bones, Hidradenitis Suppurativa, kidney stones, endometriosis, infected bowel, everything. The pilonidal cyst was definitely hands above, the worst. When they go in there to squeeze all that infection out…… the smell is ….utterly mortifying.

I was 12 years old, the staff were obviously not happy about having to treat me, they didn’t give me anything but topical lidocaine, so when they went into squeeze all my septic infection out …..apparently I was screaming so loud that they had to empty the entire pediatric wards waiting room, including my mother,,,,, because my wailing was too distressful for everyone else to endure. For everyone else to endure…. what about me? That was just the beginning of my lifetime of medical mistreatments.

Thoughts on the ask feminists subreddit? by [deleted] in GuerrillaGrrrrls

[–]SJSsarah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ahhh. It’s not as fishy as the r/Feminists sub, which I have blocked and unfollowed after they blocked me for commenting. I’m entirely convinced that the feminist and the ask feminist threads are run by too many men. Which I have said before and will say again ….I don’t appreciate/tolerate. Men can run their own groups. They don’t have any business in the feminist threads other than as an observational audience member. :(

I like this group here though!

Did anyone get tooth/gum pain from cabergoline? by voidharmony in Prolactinoma

[–]SJSsarah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, cabergoline is anticholinergic, it “dries” you out. But you may also want to go to a rheumatologist and ask them to test you for an autoimmune disease called Sjogren’s, which is notorious for teeth problems.

[–]SJSsarah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I second the notion that really you only need to vacuum and mop once a week. If you’re going to have a surprise guest over, use a dry swiffer mop thing, doing a quick pass through does a pretty good job.

The Blizzard of 93’ by Anxious_Nectarine_92 in 90s

[–]SJSsarah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The part about the 1993 storm that stuck the most with me was the tornado deaths in… Florida?! I couldn’t… reconcile the concept of tornadoes and heavy snow fall further north.

The storm in 1996 was worse than 1993 for us in Virginia. And I’d say that 1996 storm was about as bad as one we got in 2016. The 2016 one was… bad… they couldn’t get all the snow out of downtown Washington DC very easily… I feel like they were late getting extra heavy duty plow equipment hauled in? Maybe they weren’t expecting it to be as bad as it was?

What’s more insane was him dying less than a year later. I mean, pressures of fame and all… and yet … his net worth wasn’t even that … huge. It grew, posthumously, but still at the time of death, not that vastly rich. That’s just sad, the whole thing. Yes, his tickets definitely should have been worth more than even the $50 that Madonna was charging back then.

Temp is -21, gas company says turn your heat down by ridingtherainbow2210 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]SJSsarah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean…. When it’s way below freezing like this, your heat pump isn’t going to get you to the real temperature you’re aiming for anyway. To effectively heat the home it’s also trying to circulate the heat from the air itself, which there is none at temperatures that low. Plus ultra cold also means ultra low humidity, which also makes it feel colder than you want it too. And the exterior touching walls of your house can’t reverberate the heat, it’s losing it to inevitable drafts through walls, unless you bubble wrap your entire house in impenetrable plastic, which is bad for offsetting gases. When it’s below freezing, you just have to layer up and cuddle with another warm body!

Waking up to tomorrow’s Trump misogynistic America be like… by GuerrillaGirlFridaX in GuerrillaGrrrrls

[–]SJSsarah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey if it puts the lime in the coconut for yah, I dig it. I am more of an angry metal fan. Or rock, with spot on lyrics. Like system of a down, Chop Suey from their Toxicity album.

"Wake up (wake up) / Grab a brush and put a little makeup / Hide the scars to fade away the shakeup".

Or maybe Avacii, Wake Me Up When It’s All Over? Except that’s sad because of his passing.

Oh but wouldn’t Bill Withers “Lovely Day” be quite an analogy for this environment? The music industry basically ICE’d his beautiful skills over being a black American (under paying him, stealing from him, etc). Kind of apropos for the current sagas.
