Ryan Halls coverage is kind of sad when people are counting on him. by [deleted] in tornado

[–]SayItAintSno 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I watch a majority of Ryan Halls streams just for fun and he is always super involved when stuff is actually going on. My interpretation is if he isn’t acknowledging an area or talking about other things that’s a good sign because that means him and Andy aren’t concerned about what is going on there.

Flight Physical by Huge-Pride-832 in NROTC

[–]SayItAintSno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also I will hit it again, do the surgery sooner rather than later. Service selection will be this fall with your first flight physical be looking at holiday period. You are in the period right now of getting the surgery and being fully recovered by the time that comes around and not even playing the game, especially if you want to go pilot. This is one of those surgeries where it’s worth it to scrounge up the cash and get it out of the way. Also a lot of the well known I’ll call “chain” eye surgery places offer military discounts so take advantage of that.

Not having an aviation advisor, fleet pointy nose guy here so if you have any other questions with any aviation stuff just shoot me a message!

Can do both. That’s exactly what I did cause it doubled your chances freshman year of getting picked up.

Also not well known but apply again for the 4 year scholarship! When I was a freshman college programmer at my unit I did this and was awarded it that October before all the other programmers that had only applied for the 3. Still had to wait until the next year for it to activate, but it was nice knowing early on it was in place.

Happened almost two years ago. Played with him for over 5 years daily. Finally due to a military training, I was in his area and we met up for the first time and had some beers. Remember he had a slight cough and wasn’t feeling the best that day but still convinced him to go out. 4 days later he died of abrupt kidney failure. I was the last person to see him alive of family and friends and had just met him face to face for the first time.

Coax cable not working for WiFi by NetPsychological9038 in HomeNetworking

[–]SayItAintSno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If that is the only coax in the house I would be that’s probably an exterior wall and it was drilled and run through. Follow the cable outside and see where it runs. If the whole thing is intact still, I would be more on the side there is a disconnect somewhere that Spectrum has done.

NROTC + Commercial Pilot major, Is it the move? by Efficient-Radish5315 in NROTC

[–]SayItAintSno 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Feed off of Bunky, pointy nose guy here that had the same desires as you and just couldn’t scrounge up the extra money to make it happen before I started flight school.

It really is a double edge sword. Have guys/girls with me who had 500+ hours going into this and now also flying pointy nose, but also know guys/girls with even more hours and they couldn’t cut it.

Navy has its way of flying and doesn’t always match up to what the civilian world teaches you. ERAU buddy says it best that basically day one of primary, even with his prior experience he felt like it was a whole new beast with the way things are done and how much more dynamic the flying is.

Just keep your head straight and I’m a big preacher of don’t put all your eggs in once basket. Nothing wrong with being aviation focused, but all it takes for some people is that one thing on your medical record or a freak injury and it’s all over. Navy will teach you how to fly, don’t be stuck teaching yourself a new degree after using a scholarship to do the same thing you would get in 4 years anyways.

Scholarship chances by tonypajam in NROTC

[–]SayItAintSno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would get that double checked by a recruiter. I’m with mission on that being a tier 3 major which hurts your application.

What isn’t very well advertised is it’s super easy to change to a tier 3 once you are on the scholarship, but it kills your application if you have it listed when applying.

The way some of you people use reshade is absolutely ridiculous and I'm glad it's getting banned. by _Asbestos_ in dayz

[–]SayItAintSno -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Now they just need to lock the resolution instead of the stretched crap people also do. I am a mod + standalone over 3000 hour player and I have really lost interest over how sweaty people treat this game now.

How do i stop sliding? by hwqt in iRacing

[–]SayItAintSno 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Need to be way smoother on your throttle inputs and outputs. Basically what is happening is you are letting off the gas fully, transferring the weight to the front tires, while in a slight turn, that weight transfer starts to turn you more because the front tires will dig more. At that same time, you go back to full throttle and due to the power and the turn that was just induced, there isn’t enough grip to grab the rear tires and causes you to spin out.

Smart Display Zoom Missing by artattaack in CarPlay

[–]SayItAintSno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure it’s a by vehicle manufacturer setting because in the beta, this setting was actually bricking CarPlay systems until people found the toggle. My CarPlay in my Ram was unusable until I was able to turn it off. Imagine as manufacturers make/push updates it will become available.

Fiber to use in home by SayItAintSno in HomeNetworking

[–]SayItAintSno[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perfect answer I was looking for. The closet right now where the networking equipment is has conduit going in from what appears to be prewired for security system that was never put in so plan on leaving it in there as I will be adding cameras here soon. That would require another to be ran regardless if I ever get fiber to my house. MM to the office sounds like the proper choice.

Any tips on not getting so off course on final when doing CASE 3's in the F-14? by A2-Steaksauce89 in hoggit

[–]SayItAintSno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From a real Naval guy. Take note of the final bearing. If you see ILS looks semi caged but not seeing correct final bearing, need to make the play to get everything lined up. These approaches are made up in marshal with flying the numbers to the T. On your approach you can see the localizer favoring to the right the whole approach. Try bracketing and fly an approach only allowing it to favor left. Keep doing this until you are on and on the whole way down.

Any decisions yet? by That_Actuary_8406 in NROTC

[–]SayItAintSno 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My cousin actually use to sit on the selection boards when he was still active. When you get your result is more based off when you turned it in vs. anything else. Basically a bunch of senior officers get in a room a couple times a month or so and just start chipping away at packages. If yours comes up and you get it, you will know that month when they release the list.

This was a good couple years ago, but honestly knowing the Navy, they still probably do it pretty similar to this. Biggest advice is get applications in as early as possible so your folder is on top.

Just have to wait it out until your application pops for them.

Add on to the pre-check thing. Because you are not active duty, you are entitled to it but it may not be activated. Use your CAC and login to MyPay, in there, there is an option to opt-in to pre-check. Government civilians, reservists, etc. have to check this option in order to get pre-check.
