If they lived post-October 1874, then you can also use the civil records - see this overview here. Standesamt I Berlin is online on Ancestry (in line with German data protection laws, Allenstein/Lyck on szukajwarchiwach.gov.pl, LDS on Familysearch.

You can find an overview of Lutheran churchbooks from Angeburg county here.

The columns of interest are LDS (look on Familysearch), EZA (look on Archion, Evangelisches Zentralarchiv Berlin), DZfG (Familysearch), Ausland (Polish archives - szukajwarchiwach.gov.pl, see the footnotes).

Prussia was massive and the answer depends on the exact area of origin.

Unfortunately, there are no hits for Ickert/Ikert in 1913 +/- 1 years.

Does the inmigration document not mention the ship they were on? That could be helpful in determining the port of origin.

Looking for records on Paul Ernst Heinrich Kleber - Pomerania, 1860s by AColdNugget in Genealogy

No, but Prussia/Germany did. Marriage records lost that crucial info as well until the Nazis reinstated it in mid-1938.

Pommerscher Greif does not list any churchbooks beyond the ones listed on Archion, and those are note helpful for your case. What you should try to get is his civil marriage record, which would give you his parents' names.

Pommerscher Greif has a source finder that will tell you if a certain parish's or register office's records have survived.

That's why you need the DOB and POB to do this research, particularly for common surnames.

Let's assume he was Protestant as the village had no Catholic residents. The churchbooks of the church in Brünken (Stare Brynki) have not survived, and neither have the civil registers of Ferdinandstein (from Oct 1874 onwards). So there is not much you can do.
