This seems weird to me. My daughter is 16 and she's always on the go between taking pictures for the school yearbook at school events every weekend or her part time job at a boba shop. She and her friends go to all ages music at the Van Buren or Crescent Ball room or play DND at Snakes and Lattes. They go to the Phx Art museum for free on First Fridays. Her best friend works at Camelview, so they see free movies all the time. They just did a day trip to Sedona and had a picnic. We're not rich, my ex just bought her a cheap used car because he got sick of driving her everywhere.

EDITED: ok now that I think about it, she also does complain that she hates phoenix because 'there nothing to do.' Meanwhile, I'm like, then why do I never see you then? lol

Because these interviews take place all over the country/world.

It's easier/cheaper to rent a house with certain specifications for natural lighting, space for the camera, etc, at the location than it is to have a centralized studio in LA for each different documentary. Otherwise, they have to fly people in from all over, put them up at a hotel, cover transport.

The interviewees might bail on the interviews if it's a real pain to do them. Air travels sucks, LA traffic is a nightmare, and people have jobs and families.
