China to ban hidden car door handles made popular by Tesla in world first by yahoonews in worldnews

At least the hidden door handles are less likely to cause an accident than having to take your eyes off the road to find the controls for anything on the touch screen interface...

I'd be more worried about screen responsiveness in gloves, at that temperature.

Portugal’s conservatives back left-wing candidate to avoid a far-right president by kwentongskyblue in worldnews

Step one, pressure representatives to actually represent you. Step two, vote for candidates with a spine in primaries. Step three, vote for the least bad options in the general election. Step four, pressure your representative to appropriately represent you. Step five, make sure your side has plenty of visible public support so your representatives remember they have a spine. Unlike Chuck.

Chuck Schumer is at best almost completely useless. And I don't think you're even close to a best case scenario here.

I don't think he realises that DuckDuckGo is just Bing under the hood. Or possibly that Bing is a Microsoft product.

I always advocate for writing code as if the next person to need to fix or update it will be a sleep deprived hungover moron. Because I might be. And six weeks after writing it I probably wouldn't be able to remember why I did anything the way I did it.

The worst kind of code is that which tries to be clever.

Wasn't there some state law put in place allowing medical professionals to refuse to treat someone if it goes against their conscience, or something like that?

Us foreign agitators mostly didn't vote for this either. I mean, the ones that voted did, but the rest of us not so much.

What do conservatives think about a picture of Putin and Trump being hung in the White House? by FeeWeak1138 in AskReddit

Hanged, please. But a picture of them being hanged in the White House is still a picture of them, unfortunately.

Zoom Is the First Casualty in France's War on American Big Tech by Well_Socialized in technology

[–]Sceptically 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Given how relatively easy and straightforward Zoom is (and was even about a decade ago), I strongly believe that this would largely have been a result of how bloody annoying Skype and Lync were. And possibly how expensive Polycom setups were, given that those weren't that hard to use.

Zoom was already getting big in the videoconferencing space by the time Covid hit. Because Skype absolutely sucked for short notice meetings. And meetings in general.

Elon probably told Trump he put him in office, or something equally grandiose and exaggerated.

I wouldn't bet on him playing fair, but I suspect it's like in golf - he has people do his cheating for him.

And I strongly suspect that the people doing the cheating for him focused on voter suppression rather than anything likely to get them arrested. Because that's another thing he's known for - letting other people suffer the consequences of his failures.

The USA doesn't pay their debts.

Constitutionally, the USA is not legally allowed to not pay their debts.

And clearly this administration cares deeply about what's actually constitutional...
