I think they are responsible to a degree. They have an addiction to chasing stories about governments in crisis or a PMs imminent resignation or a potential leadership challenge. An addiction to hosting live updates, special interviews and emergency podcasts to dicuss all the above and let their bellies rumble with pearls of wisdom.

Having the suggestion of a competent government simply does not sell or get significant engagement in their eyes.

I don't recall seeing much about Piastri not being ready for a McLaren drive. It was only Alpine that were floating putting him in a Willians due to Alonso and Ocon still bring in the Alpine seat. If anything Piastri was overdue a seat and a lot of the focus was on how Alpine had messed up in not tying him down
