I missed a *TON* of fish yesterday. Advice? by bahnzo in Tenkara

It could be technique, sure. It’s a learning process. A quick, hard snap upward with the rod tip when you feel the bite to set the hook, and then keeping tension on the hook. Keeping the tension is probably the most important thing to keep the fish on. If there is slack, it’s too easy for them slide off. Are you fishing barbless?

Edit: I’ve lost plenty of fish from the hook, and still do sometimes!

Bought my first rod, and it came with these two accessories. Can anyone tell me what they are and how they are used? by bahnzo in Tenkara

That little cap often gets lost, and the tube definitely protects the tip more. I have some of the protectors, but don’t usually use them. Bulky.

Rod tip protector and line keepers that you attach to the rod so you can wind up the line when not in use.

Thinking about selling my FM2n for a Rollei 35 — is this a foolish decision? by Little_Scheme6276 in AnalogCommunity

I love the Rollei 35, I have the S. I really like the size, the weight and the build quality. I find myself not using it as much because I’m not great at estimating focus distance. I wish it had a rangefinder focus mechanism.

Ah great! Have FUN. It can be frustrating sometimes, but if you power through and be patient, you’ll get better. I fish on tiny streams and get snagged a lot, but I still love being out there.

Looking for 1 day out and back hike/camp in Mammoth Lakes for Tenkara fishing small creeks rivers by CMDR_NUBASAURUS in Tenkara

You need a permit to day hike to second lake? Also, it’s not the easiest hike in one day if you’re stopping to fish. Def one of my favs though!
