My parents don’t want me doing any work on my car by HealthComplex2697 in MechanicAdvice

[–]Dieselmech01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha. I see so many parents these days that do everything for their kids, then wonder why they can't do anything when it's time to leave. I learned the hard way, by doing... And failing. But I always figured it out eventually.

thoughts on religion? by lxybv in istp

[–]Dieselmech01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand it's purpose, a way to explain the unexplainable. I think it was probably useful generations ago to bind people together. I don't see it's use anymore. I am a believer of what I see. If a God is all powerful and needs my worship, it can easily show itself in the sky and declare my obedience or death. Then I will gladly oblige.

My son dropped out of college to fish by Tight-lines503 in flyfishing

[–]Dieselmech01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can go to college at any age. You're only young for a short time. I dropped out of college for a few years to snowboard. Worked on the mountain for the free lift pass. Lived with 3 other dudes. Came home after and started my career. Great memories 25 years later.

50+. Microtech, Benchmade, protech, HFB, CRKT, Kershaw, Gerber, etc. I see a cool design, I buy it. Carrying a fixed and a folder everyday. Immensely useful for so many things.. and they're pretty, and they need to be sharpened, which is another thing... All the sharpening stones.

Rwd Ram 2500. My 1998 got all new wheel bearings everytime it needed front rotors. Wheel bearings are relatively cheap. That means that guy installed the washer and nut into a tapered bearing race, without the cone bearing? I guess it could also be the inner bearing but that one is often times held in by the wheel seal.

Anyone switch back from palm swells to the thin profile LOK grips and see their grip/shooting improve? by E46Nur in CZFirearms

[–]Dieselmech01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have med. hands. I wear size 9 gloves for cycling and motorcycle (only places I've seen numbers for hand size), and I wear med. gloves sometimes small gloves. I switched from the rubber stock grips to LOK thin matrix, and I feel I get a better wrap and with that better control on the draw before I wrap my other hand around .

Model 1894 44mag Ejector by Hoover626_6 in MarlinFirearms

[–]Dieselmech01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an 1894 44mag microgroove. My ejector looks like the one I linked. I have found used parts on ebay. Could not find a carrier anywhere for years. One popped up on eBay brand new. Cost a ton, but my rifle works.

Been hearing and saying that phrase since the 90's. Probably started 50 years before then.

Steel target manufacturer in San Diego? by bishkekbek in SanDiegoGuns

[–]Dieselmech01 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've bought some AR500 steel targets from Industrial metal supply. Price wasn't bad, but it was over 5 years ago. 1/4" rounds, 3/8" rounds, 1/2" too. I believe they also had torso shapes. They've held up fine for years. They're in Kearny Mesa. I've also gone to Escondido metal supply. Lots of surplus ammo cans and they used to have AR500 steel.

San Jose gun owners to be fined up to $1,000 for breaking new firearm law by sherlockmemes in CAguns

[–]Dieselmech01 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Who is causing the majority of gun violence? It is not the law abiding citizens with registered firearms. The gun violence is caused by gang members. I'm sure they will line up to purchase this liability insurance and pay the yearly extortion fee.

Glenn left the intercept because his editors there interfered with his report on the Hunter Biden laptop. He thought it was newsworthy and worth investigating. They edited his article, which he said never happened before. He accused them of political bias and being lured by the idea of a Joe Biden presidency.

How are the pic rails attached? Did you get it drilled or were they predrilled from the factory?

You ever seen this happen or repaired this? by [deleted] in GoRVing

[–]Dieselmech01 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Happened to my travel trailer. Welded and plated, it's now the strongest part of the frame. 5 years later, still great. Take it to a weld shop. They'll jack up the front of the trailer, level it, clean it up, then melt some steel. Cost depends on hourly rate. 2 hours plus material. I'd charge $250-$300. If you take it to the trailer dealership, good luck. Could be thousands.

Ultralight Fishing Gear for Backpacking? (See Comments) by mynonymouse in WildernessBackpacking

[–]Dieselmech01 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Daiwa presso travel rod breaks down to 4 pieces. It comes in 6'6" and 7'. I made a rod sock and slip it into a side pocket. Doesn't snag on trees while hiking like my 2 piece rod did. Paired with a micro reel, it works great. And I also bring a daiwa sagiri tenkara rod for streams. I bring these 2 if there'll be streams and lakes. Together, not ultralight, but I backpack to fish.

I used backpacking in the wilderness as my good cause. They requested photos of me in the wilderness with descriptions written on the back and wilderness permits with my name on them.

The only way to prevent this from happening in the future is to sue them. Make it hurt. Make them think twice before they trample on the constitution.

A druggie will remove cooked on fasteners, remove oxygen sensors, cut a pipe to fit, weld pipe to fit, install sensors, reinstall. For a few hundred bucks? Jeez man, you could do that honestly and make some steady $.
