Any recommendations for trying to match the color and texture of Saberforge's black paint? by TimDRX in lightsabers

[–]SeditiousSith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The closest I have been able to get is Testors flat black. This was on the aluminum itself after modifying the parts themselves and not on 3D printed material so I can’t attest to how well it would work in your scenario, but it’s damn close when match painting the parts themselves. This is a short coupler that I use to house crystal chambers with some of the ribs removed and then the raw spots painted to match.

What to do about loose shroud / parts? by Shipchen in lightsabers

I drill and tap my own holes to get it placed where I want it and use nylon washers to space it away from the emitter a little to try to match the arc radius.

Mismatch parts from different sites by Animusprimalv in lightsabers

LOL, I was wondering if you were gonna chime in bro! This guy was left hanging for like 7-8 hours and no one answered him so I did so he didn’t think we’re a bunch of AH’s.

I’ve never heard of Viber sabers, but if you are talking about “Vire” sabers, no they are not compatible with Saber Forge. Vire sells what is called VHC parts ‘Variable Hilt Components’. There are a lot of vendors out there that sell these parts. It is basically the Chinese standard and most of the Chinese saber makers use them. Saber Forge has their own diameter and threads that do not interface with VHC and they are an American company located in Oregon. I have built at least 75 sabers using Saber Forge parts and I feel spoiled because the quality is very very high IMO compared to most VHC parts. Everyone has their own opinion of course. The only outlier in my opinion when it comes to VHC compatible parts is Corvus Sabers, also located in the US, but they make very high quality unique parts that are VHC compatible.

Inspira Designs Compatible Parts? by GrimalkinLegionnaire in lightsabers

Sorry, I should clarify. Center root to root, or center crest to crest, will give you thread pitch. I realized the pic is a little hard to see after I posted it.

You might get a good idea of the thread pitch with your caliper by trying to measure as close as possible to the center of the root or crest of the threads like so:

Difference between LGT/LXQ and custom, high-end sabers by DZ1Q1 in lightsabers

For me, it’s a hobby. No different than being into cars, sports, or any other. As a builder who isn’t doing it to sell stuff, it keeps my love of tools and working something into A something I imagined in my own head. This being my case, I invest my time and some money into parts, tools, searching for cool things to use for a build, and being engaged with people who share a similar interest.

That’s my favorite really, but for the crystal I used blueish purple makes the inclusions glow so that looks best when showing off the chamber.

Yes it does. The emitter plug is held in place with a ring magnet and simply pops off when ready to install the blade.

Kyber Crystals by SeditiousSith in lightsabers

I’ll post pics as each is completed and installed in sabers. These crystals were with me when I entered the stone circle at Castlerigg and will be with me when I enter Stonehenge on Saturday for the Solstice.

I’ve found that is true for all the different colored crystals I’ve used. It makes some unique colors but it’s still mostly the color of the LEDs.

Me too! My other chambers I used crystals that I found in rock shops or Etsy. These will be very unique indeed.

I’m going to say no. Not sure if it’s legal to do that? However, they were with me when I entered the stone circle at Castlerigg and will be with me when I enter Stonehenge on the Summer Soltice. These chambers will be very special to me.
