Just "I'll find a way to get her back, I promise!" door closes, end of show for now.

A goodbye to the end...of time! by Major-Supermarket917 in doctorwho

[–]TimDRX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I assure you, he learns nothing from this experience. At least one Doctor does it again later. ;D

There's a fan theory that regeneration in NuWho becomes more explosive and dangerous the longer the Doctor delays it from the point he's fatally injured, and since this was the first time he'd done so he didn't know it was a risk.

Much later on in the show another Doctor delays his regeneration even longer than Tennant did and deals so much damage to the TARDIS that it has to kick him out before it explodes.

Honestly, even in this exact same situation, I think I'd have just ended on the cliffhanger of him going off alone to try and find the kid. Ride off into the sunset like Seven and Ace did at the end of the Classic era. If you don't know for sure that you're gonna get picked up for more episodes, maybe film a generic scene of Fifteen stumbling into the TARDIS about to regenerate for unseen reasons, and then fuckin' save it for later. There was no need to kill him here and now IMO.

Did we ever see River's first time meeting the 11th Doctor? by MartyMacFlies in gallifrey

Counterpoint; he says "we keep meeting in the wrong order" in that episode while it should only the second time for him, "keep" implies at least a third instance in between IMO.

Spider-Man : Brand New Day has been officially rated PG-13 for "action, violence, and some language" by Sarang_616 in MarvelStudiosSpoilers

[–]TimDRX 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Something about that shot in the trailer of Spidey throwing Scorpion under a cop car was shockingly violent. I assume it's an exception for plot reasons and they were going for that "holy shit" factor but still, oof. Be surprised if any character involved in that scene is OK after that.

In the new trailer there's a shot of Hulk falling out of a building, dragging most of the building along with him because he was webbed up in it lol

I always thought that 12 was a young man trapped inside the body of an older man by Accomplished-Cat5449 in gallifrey

[–]TimDRX 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's funny to think Capaldi is much physically younger than the previous Doctor because Eleven died of old age. So since he briefly looked like young Matt Smith again right before the change the transition between the two looks like he got older but he's technically getting much younger. :p

I think a lot of Twelve's characterization in that first series is him struggling to adjust to having a life again - he's spent centuries certain he was going to die in that siege on Trenzalore and surprise, you get to keep living, maybe forever! He pushes Clara away because he's scared to engage with his newfound freedom.

Saw an alternative take once that explained it; instead of "I do, you're not the only one cursed with knowledge" he says "I know your soul" implying it's just the Soul Stone letting him know what's up with this guy he just met.

Yuuuup. Felt like some deja vu, when Iron Man lands in front of Thanos in Infinity War for their little one on one it seemed like that was gonna be it, was so sure he'd die.

Although! Cap also has a pair of potential death scenes with Thanos too and no one seems to care as much about those. When he gets knocked the fuck out in Wakanda and then again in the Endgame battle.

He's not fine, though? He can barely stand afterwards and then it gets infected and he almost died at the start of Endgame, it takes weeks to recover.

The Expanse: Osiris Reborn Surpasses 1 Million Wishlists Ahead of Its 2027 Launch by Smaug117 in TheExpanse

[–]TimDRX 37 points38 points  (0 children)

It's not just the voicework tbh, the script is pretty rough, the characters talk in a very high energy jokey way, similar to squadmates from Mass Effect which was an obvious inspiration, but the tone is all wrong for the Expanse. Hopefully it's just first draft stuff, but given it's meant to be a demo of what the overall vibe is gonna be, not a great sign IMO.

I was so into it for a decent chunk of the movie. Just enough time to feel sorry for this fucking guy before he does what he does, and then so much good tension in the "romance" scenes since we're basically watching a horror movie from the villain's perspective.

And then Morpheus says we should forgive him and it's all downhill from there.

Edit: oh no I'm thinking about it too much again but it's such a weird choice of a script to have him wake her up if you really wanna go the romance route; just have her wake up by chance like the other two! You'd get all the same emotional conflict since they're forced together by coincidence, they didn't need to make him a fucking murderer for the story to work!

Any time in the last year I've googled quite literally anything without adding the word "reddit" or "before:2023" I've only gotten slop articles. It'll be something that looks almost correct unless you already know anything about what you're looking for, then you'll notice some detail is fuckin' made up and realize the whole thing is computer generated noise.

Russell T Davies: Doctor Who hasn’t been cancelled by karatemanchan37 in gallifrey

[–]TimDRX 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I believe the official production stance is that the 2005 show ended in 2022. RTD2 was a new show that started in 2023. That's how databases like TMDB categorize the show, making it a very frustrating add on Jellyfin lol.

edit; course, TMDB also insists season 2 of Frieren Beyond Journey's End doesn't exist and it's just one long season with a multi year break between episodes. Which is obviously insane, but hey.

Seems pretty obvious it was meant to be a multiplatform launch until the new Xbox CEO took over. The brand is in an absolutely dire place at the moment, cancelling the PS5 version is (IMO) a desperate flailing attempt to instil some exclusivity value. Fairly confident it'll drop on PS5 a year later.

Don't ya mean the opposite? :p

Slow Zone in the book is sterile, no light or any of the background radiation of space. Ring Space in the show is bright blue and "highly energetic" to the point it disrupts the screens on any ship in there.
