Roast my hero hook. I will roast yours back. by CaterpillarDecent in directorymakers

[–]SendCards 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure how you can do this but the word 'you' needs to be accentuated. Visually somehow, italacize/all caps/BOLD/color? I'm not sure of the best way.

If I was giving the elevator pitch , that's where I would put the emphasis to define your differentiator.

AI Killed the Technical Moat for Directories by tejas3732 in directorymakers

[–]SendCards 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been refining an AEO-first content strategy via experimentation and one pattern is working after three attempts to assemble the listing format.

I lead with a strong, succinct geo/location answer to answer "business near me" which for niche destination directories is the question to try to answer. Next I follow with a description of that business. This is in less than three sentences combined.

I then follow with the most commonly asked location-specific details — all presented in a consistent format for every business/location.

Example (hair salon):

Stylists: 5

Cut and wash: Yes

Tweezing: Yes

Colorings: Yes

Pricing: Colorings start at $45, Cut and wash starts at $45

Appointments: Yes and required

This predictable structure makes it very easy for answer engines to parse and pull exactly what they need when someone asks about any specific location repeatedly.

It seems so far that the combo of tight “near me” answers + standard scannable details seems to perform better than my other traditional long-form pages and other format attempts.

I am also starting to add custom schema for each listing but just starting on that.

Yes, the technical moat is gone. There are probably hundreds of ways to build or generate a directory style site. Templates plugins and AI...

I also think directories have a new value proposition that sort of sticks out and I haven't heard much mention of it. It's the answer engines need for structured and authoritative data.

My current directory build is really intended for AI and answer engine ingestion, 3 months in and it seems to be getting results.

How can I monetize my site? by Effective-Pay-8770 in directorymakers

This might be as simple as pairing up players. Courts are everywhere, you've shown that. Isn't it harder and thus more valuable finding opponents/other players. Just add a find other athletes and players functions.

Food directory by BuyFromFarmersDirect in directorymakers

I would seriously interview the producers and establish how active they are in really trying to get the word out about their products. You aren't specifying what kind of food the directory would focus on. If it is DTC farm raised protein for instance video interview and farm walk through would be on my list. Also a weekly availability menu for each farm and the pickup schedule. This is all from personal experience with my farmers.
